Are there interests that Poland share with Russia?

i am curious to found out are there any interests that Poland share with Russia? i mean, we all have interests in international stability, stability in the region, we all have fear from terrorism, etc, etc. So, i am curious about other, geo-strategic interests that Poland eventualy share with Russia.

No matter, opposed or not opposed. Simple, that Polish interests meets Russian interests, that are hand in hand with Russian interests. Those interests could be hand in hand with interests of third side also or could be opposed to interests of all the world if you want.

We spaak of vital geo-strategic interests, regional or wider. Eventualy, of course

As always it is difficult to understand current politics and politicians, but as far as I understand it, Poland wants Russo-German relations to be curtailed and made a subject to EU control and regulations. Thanks to EU support Russia is going to get more power, and as such enter into alliance with the Union, which in turn will be an important step for Europe and Russia in gaining more clout in international politics.

Geo-strategic interests? I think we have economic ones, we buy their gas which they sell us, for example. But if we had any geo-strategic interests with Russia, they would immediately say to us: "Kuritsa nie ptitsa, Polsza nie zagranitsa", and as we don't want to form part of the Russian empire again, we would say "No, thank you".

On micro-regional level - all stuff about Krolewiec/Kaliningrad/Königsberg, like:
- free access to Pilawska Strait between Vistula Lagoon and Baltic Sea for Polish vessels
(it would be positive for Kaliningrad too from tourist bussiness point of view)
- faster and easier border passing - new road on Russians side (there is already new one on Polish side)
- broader cooperation regarding bussiness, transport and mediacal issues between Kaliningrad region and northern regions of Poland

unfortunately so far Kaliningrad is a hostage of big politics and Russian centralization of power, dragging down polish city of Elblag.

On macro level Russia and Poland are in first ten to each other in terms of trade.

Who knows maybe time show that Kaliningrad as independant or as part of Poland represent interest of both- of Poland and of Russia.

Without intention to provoke Germans of this forum, i would even go that far to underline that even possible Lusatia as independant or as part of Poland could be in interests, again, of Poland and of Russia. Maybe even in the interest of Germany but, its now too early to say that.

This type of thinking certainly wouldn't help Kaliningrad Russians dealing with central Moscow gov. Also I don't think they want that. All they need is broader self-goverment maybe even close to autonomy. Right now almost every little detail has to be processed in Moscow which is big obstacle for any real local cooperation.

Kaliningrad is a cool place.Germans wanted to buy it from Yeltzin but I prefer it like it is full of Russians.

Last I've heard was some weeks back during the scandal of the drunk driving of a protestant
church cleric woman, BILD tabloid said Schröder sat beside her in the car but he denied everything...of course...;)

Of all our chancellors only Schmidt, Kohl, Schröder and Merkel are still alive...

They all attend talkshows sometimes still. Kohl just had a big birthday bash and Schmidt
still smokes totally ignoring all smoking bans (my hero!) ;)
And honestly I can imagine that Schröder was the reason for the protestant cleric woman getting drunk and yes he sat in her car! ;)

Helmut Schmidt flagrantly ignored laws for decades, that is defied smoking ban. He also said that George W. Bush's war in Iraq was a war of choice, not a war of necessity.

If the Germans wanted to buy one, two or more islands of Greece recently, why shouldn't they want to buy the Kaliningradskaja Oblast from Russia?

Because everyone know it's just hole. Then only reason for Germany to buy it would be to get Prussia back to Germany. Nobody likes much the thinking of Germany + Prussia region

What is with regional question such is Ukraine or what is with one internal Poland`s question such is Silesia?

Shall we say that both- Poland and Russia has interest that Ukraine exist as sovereign and independent state, within her current borders and military neutral on global military alliances?

What is with other important regional questions such is Byelorussia, for example. What are Polish-Russian interests regarding Byelorussia? Maybe, Poland`s and Russia`s interests overlap in positive sense here, too?
