However, it doesn't work like that in practice - most European currencies (except the Pound and the Swiss Franc) tend to rise and fall along with the Euro. So while Polish lettuce might be cheaper now, it's due to lower labour costs, not because of being outside the Euro.


Why does Germany need a counterweight?

The problem of euro was that it allowed easy bowworing with low interest rates which were supposed to be for the German industry.Our politicians put their hand in the honey box and turned it to ****.

By borrowing easily they have put incompetent persons in mass in every position so productivity has declined to a minimum.Withdrawal of low interest loans and hesitance of Germans to lend revealed the magnitude of the problem.The real problem is the low productivity(allowed by the euro).

The Greeks can work their way out of this mess.

Not without going back to the Drachma.
