Kopernik - Polish or German?

What do you think about that Nicolaus Copernicus was German not Polish? English wikipedia did not show exactly the nationality. I think he was Polish.

Every German has Polish roots. Almost! Even Hitler wasn't German if we consider Austria as not German.

why has Poland changed the national anthem for?

The national anthem always was and be "Mazurek Dąbrowskiego" - this was the most hot candidate for the anthem, there were 2 more candidates:

Bogurodzica (The Mother of God) is the oldest Polish religious hymn. Written in the 10th-13th century. Polish knights sang it as an anthem before the Battle of Grunwald and during the battle with the Turkish army at Varna in 1444. (wikipedia)

and:

Rota ("Oath") is a 20th-century Polish poem and anthem (wikipedia)

I Think that ROTA has a great words:

Nie będzie Niemiec pluł nam w twarz
The German will not spit in our face

Ni dzieci nam germanił
Nor Germanize our children

Ukrainian is a brother of Belorussian and Polish is much more similar to Slovak I think, or maybe even to Croatian

Stefan Batory was a Hungarian and one of the best Polish King so why not Davies?

He is of rare breed: he is leftist but he doesn't sugarcoat actions by USSR. I respect him.
Another good historian is Anne Applebaum (who is also married to a Pole):

Oh my good! She is married to Radek Sikorski one of the most popular politic in Poland - the most honorable man in Poland military and who will probably could win presidential election!

I don't know but I know it is the best for the foreigners and Polish-roots peoples, it has Polish diaspora News - wieści polonijne- it has English subtitles on every TV serial film what is very useful, I don't know how to take the polonia, but ask TV satellite provider what you have to do to watch TVP POLONIA (TV POLONIA)

This is the stupidest thread I ever seen. Listen, Germans accused Us - Poles that we are robbers, but They robbed France, Spain in World Cup Handball 2007 in 1/2 and 1/4. Germany is the 5th richest country in the world, and Poland so poor due to German demolition and all what happened next so it is possible that sometimes Poles are in Germany and steal something, but I can add that Dutch peoples are saying that in the time of German occupation of The Netherlands Germans made a lot of robbers of bicycles (buahahaha).

Genealogy / Toczynski name? [18]

Toczyński gives 43 web pages in Google engine so It is common and everyday surname and I look on this pages and all of them refer to Polish families in Poland not US one, so it is common, not us much us Nowak or Kowalski but common

For years he was known as the unrivalled historian of Poland from BBC - 100% right! He is probably the best Polish ambassador in the World. I'm not sure whether he has a Polish citizenship already, but for sure after Pope JP II, Lech Wałęsa, he is on my 3rd position to be the most positive Pole in nowadays, of course Pope JP II is gone.

Norman Davies is well known for his love to Poland. He Wrote many books about Polish history. After so many years he speaks Polish excellent. What do you think of him? He is often criticism cuz of his Polish-PHOBIA.

How can you live in a foreign,completely strange country without trying to learn the language of a country you decided to settle down in?

My father have lived in US for about 18 years and didn't bother to learn english at all. Why he didn't need it at all. He was working for Poles (his very good friend) and only for them. All he need was Polish in work. At home he hadn't English friends only Polish. I was in UK for 8 months and didn't say a word to English-man, well it happens.
