History / When will you Poles give back German land and the cities which you robbed? [557]

because at the same time there existed maps with Poland clearly depicted.

c'mon RUR,

The Polish state temporarily ceased to exist when the territories of the once-powerful Kingdom of Poland were divided among Prussia, Austria, and Russia in three partitions of 1772, 1793, and 1795

globalsecurity.org/military/world/europe/pl-history-partitions.htm

This thread is starting to stray from the title, can all posters keep on topic please.

Feedback / Editing time too short (5 minutes currently) [60]

PF posting time between posts declining (thats my observation)

correct observation

Does it have to be cuz of excessive mods?

not so sure about that. I believe, many people simply have better things to do than dealing with nonsense.

USA, Canada / If America is so bad, why move here? [254]

About what, where Polish ppl prefer to move or my thoughts and feelings?

Look, let's be honest, you guys prefer going to the UK and such because it's not easy for you to obtain visa to the US. I personally believe, you should be able to visit us anytime you feel like it. It's just a stupid regulation that needs to be changed ASAP. I mean, all of your neighbors can come and go as they wish, why not you.

USA, Canada / If America is so bad, why move here? [254]

well, how about that, I lived9 years in Germany and 4 years in Poland (visited many other European countries too). Don't you think, I know more about both worlds than you? (honest answer, no bull)

USA, Canada / If America is so bad, why move here? [254]

I'm definitely more of an expert than you- an American male

excuse me? now that is very interesting. What are you trying to insinuate, Lenka?

btw. to make a statement like you did, you actually have to know both worlds (first hand) to be able to compare, otherwise, it's nothing else but an assumption.

I'm from Poland and EU always wins with USA when I think about place to live

I take it as an opinion of an expert, who lived in the US long enough to know, what she's talking about ;-)

News / Is this the first clear and open signal that Poland makes preparations for war with Russia? [163]

Yes, there is no excuse for being a nazi.

starving to death millions of people (about 7), is pretty much the same as gassing millions of Jews in my books. Let's call them all Nazis then. I'm not looking for excuses, just being honest.

As far as our military engagement in Ukraine however, I've already stated above, I'm against it but only because I hate to see our guys die for another country. Other than that, I condemn the Russians for what they're about to do and this is all I want to say in this thread as it looks like it's gonna be one of those threads where we'll be repeating the same ole crap forever, without coming to any real conclusion, anyways not one that will satisfy all sides.

You guys enjoy yourself ;-)

History / Communism, was it the best form of government Poland ever had? [68]

There is not a single communist regime that has not descended into murder and repression

every electorate is wise to the fact that it is an unworkable system that can only be sustained by terrorising the workers it pretends to represent.

no capitalist country has ever had to build a wall to keep people in.

i have honestly never met one who would like to go back to the old system lock stock and barrel.

two thumbs up!!!

History / Communism, was it the best form of government Poland ever had? [68]

And thousands of Poles died in order for there to be a communist Poland; look closely and you can still see the monuments to them.

Harry (and whoever feels like Harry), if you believe that communism is a system for you then Poland is not the right place to be. In my years in Poland, I haven't met many Poles who liked it back then. Those monuments you're talking about, are most likely for Polish soldiers who fought along the Soviet Army during the WW2, who mostly didn't care who they fought for, as long as it helped Poland. OK, there might be a few monuments of some major commie criminals too but I don't believe, you'll find many people in nowadays Poland, who care about them, or maybe someone, simply forgot to tear 'em down.

Damn, people... Jon357 and WB - it's funny reading your comments, considering that none of you lived even a day under that system.

yeah, it's kinda crazy to tell Poles that communism (actually socialism), was the best form of government, Poland ever had. Thousands of Poles died for a commie free Poland and now, they're telling you that they died for nothing and that whatever you guys ever believed and lived for, was a nonsense.

Life / Agnieszka holland compares life in Poland to 'sniffing farts': [97]

A. Holland is a perfect example of a Soviet "Pole". What she is saying is worth as much as a fart.

yeah, it's kinda sad that a Pole (she is) is talking so bad about her own country. Hating politics is one thing and degrading your country, is another.

USA, Canada / Why do Americans (and Canadians) hate Polish people? [226]

you think and write like a child and yet you believe you can criticize us.

Btw. no one, other than a few (maybe), hates Poles in America. Talk about something you actually know what you're talking about ....
.....I basically told you to shut up.

Polonia / German police aggresively manhandle Polish citizens? [16]

Just read in today's >>Nowy Dziennik<< that German police allegedly beat several Polish visitors while the latter were visiting Germany.
Any truth to the allegations reported?

I can't imagine it happened but if it did, then definitely not because they were Polish.

Life / Why are Polish people so obsessed with race? [160]

Polish seem to be obsessed with peoples race

I lived in Poland for a while and I can't confirm what you're saying. Sure, you'll always find someone who makes dumb comments but generally saying, I haven't met many Poles who talked about it but let's be honest, you didn't create this thread to discuss it, you created it to stir up some bs because you're bored ;-) I'm not saying, there's no racism in Poland but majority of those who hate other races, do it quietly, just like anywhere else.

USA, Canada / Only one county in the USA has more Polish-Americans than any other group! [38]

I assure you that most people gave their country of origin for the ship's manifest and when asked by the immigration officers at Ellis Island, not their ethnicity

you can't assure me TO but I respect your opinion ;-) Again TO, self-reported means, nobody told them what to say, they self-reported who they are, end of story. Really no need to argue, man. It is what it is. No matter how long we'll continue talking about it, nothing will change it anyway.

USA, Canada / Only one county in the USA has more Polish-Americans than any other group! [38]

You know as well as I do that ....

When people arrived here, they were asked about their nationality and they freely (self-reported) said who they are. There was absolutely no reason for them to say they're Germans if they felt Polish and the other way around, especially knowing how they feel/felt about each other.

USA, Canada / Only one county in the USA has more Polish-Americans than any other group! [38]

Correct. Looking at the article now, I believe that the folks at the Daily Mail mixed up ethnicity and citizenship somewhat.

Most Americans I know define themselves by the country their ancestors emigrated from by the way.

hello, I know you're a smart guy TO and understand what self-reported means.
