Editing time too short (5 minutes currently)

I don't know if this has been discussed here before but.....
I know that the editing time is 15 minutes. Well, when I went over, I decided to correct my post by creating another post, YET the forum does NOT allow me. It does not make sense.

Looking forward to your explanation.

What do you mean creating another post?? is that a totally different post from the one you have created?? or are you trying to edit the original??

I thought that you had 30 mins to 'edit' your post however you liked, even if it was 15 mins then if you are the last person to post, you cannot post again until somebody else has.

Correct.

Well, when I went over,

All I could really suggest there is to use the preview button to proof-read before you post.

I doubt the edit time will change but maybe if you speak nicely to Admin he'll change it. ;)

I did to be honest. I will have to improve my editing skills.

I doubt the edit time will change but maybe if you speak nicely to Admin he'll change it. ;)

It would be nice if it was longer, especially when writing Omnibus entries. I usually write it as a separate document, then once it is ready, I copy and paste, but this time around I did not. However, if I am the only one having this problem I don't see a reason why the editing time should be changed.

even if it was 15 mins then if you are the last person to post, you cannot post again until somebody else has.

I know:). Thanks Torny and PD.

well, I was wondering if ADM would consider EXTENDING the editing time to 30 minutes.

This is not the first time that I was to edit my post and I am denied the access. Please, consider the change ADM, it would make the posting much easier.

I would really like an unlimited Delete for my own posts. Or at least long enough for a nap...

15 mins is enough to make a correction. 15 mins make you think more about what you are writing.

maybe for you, but I have different opinion, therefore my inquiry:)

Well, it was 30 mins before so it can be again I guess. I've gotten used to 15 mins now.

15 mins is enough to make a correction.

Agree. For me it could be even less. It made me answer somebody few times just to get accused of imagining things after the cunning git completely changed the thread to the complete opposite of what I had pointed out. It's probably wise to just wait these 15 minutes before criticizing anyone in here in case your well aimed arguments would make them change their mind and try to make you look like a muppet who doesn't know what the thread is about.

YET the forum does NOT allow me. It does not make sense

How daft do you have to be to need more than 15 minutes to edit a post??

5 minutes should suffice, I guess some people are slower than others

Agree. For me it could be even less.

there you go

maybe for you, but I have different opinion, therefore my inquiry:)

You might want to try that preview button next time, its there for a reason,,innnit?

I did NOT ask if it is enough for other posters, I asked if the editing time could be extended.

Roberczik - take a hike , will yah.........you are rude, call me names and I don't appreciate it.
Note to myself:
(another idiot joined PF - what else is new. I am so, so lucky I don't have to deal with such idiots in real life. I wonder what would ADM say if we finally got the IDIOT ALERT on PF;)- it would be so, so very handy)

Merged: PF posting time between posts declining - how much time do we have to edit?

Does it have to be cuz of excessive mods?

PF posting time between posts declining (thats my observation)

correct observation

Does it have to be cuz of excessive mods?

not so sure about that. I believe, many people simply have better things to do than dealing with nonsense.

Does it have to be cuz of excessive mods?

I don't think so. Mods should have been that "excessive" at a much earlier time. But they were not and all this forum has slowly become a tiny shadow (or in fact a real mockery) of what it once was.

I did warn regularly that such thing would happen sooner or later, but in vain. Now when it is far too late for that, Admin and the mods have taken into action. I doubt if it can ever produce any fruitful results (or it will take years to arrive at it). Having had no clear policy for what the PF forum should be like, and accordingly excluding certain members from posting, they have brought this forum to its present shameless state. The best action now would probably be to close it down for good.

I believe, many people simply have better things to do than dealing with nonsense.

I think you have touched the very essence of this forum here as for now. There is no better word to describe its contents at the moment than "nonsense".

A short edit time is a nuisance for people on slow internet connections or posting on mobile devices.

I don't understand the topic title. I assume you mean, the time between posts is becoming greater, i.e. people are posting less frequently, or are you saying that people are posting a lot more [though that doesn't seem to coincide sense with replies you have received]?

I agree entirely. I'd very much like to see a longer edit time.

What he means is that time between posts has become greater since mods are throwing too many posts to the dustbin.

mods are throwing too many posts to the dustbin.

I really don't think that they are throwing too many posts in the bin.

Me either and I also don't think they suspend too many awkward posters from time to time.

Same here. Too many people on here with an axe to grind or just posting things that have nothing to do with PL.

Thing is for most online forums membership is down.

Forums were so successful for many years coz info wasn't so readily available on the growing internet. Now, we're website for everything and looking for info is far easier, so y'know people don't really need forums, they just have to google it.

In terms of this forum, i agree with this:

Having had no clear policy for what the PF forum should be like

, I don't think this forum really every had a clear aim and as thus has become a hodgepodge of meaningless/aimless threads.
People come for help and are lambasted for daring to ask, most threads are turned into arguments and people are not civil.

Plus y'know, it's a forum of, mostly, immigrants in Poland, a tiny, tiny minority and in inconsequential country where not much happens in the grand scheme of things. Or plastic Poles who seemingly know very little about their 'homeland'.

You would have to presume that most people go to other specialist websites/forums and speak about their interests there, not much of an audience here and the audience that is here isn't exactly civil.

so y'know people don't really need forums, they just have to google it.

And when they google it the get links to the forums lol

Maybe if it concerns Poland and you have a question in English about something in Poland, but normally, no, you'd usually get a link to a website with the info rather than a forum.

Also a huge problem with this forum is there was no sense ever of 'community' here. Keyboard warriors were allowed to thrive and it was too late before actions was taken. They put off new posters and the vast majority never returned.

And the short edit time is nonsense as well, can't go back and change a spelling error is ludicrous. I'd said it many times here, but the forum is long overdue an update to website software that wasn't made in the 1990s. As much as ATP is a terrible site of trolls and idiotic pigmen, at least it has the functions of a website that's of the 21st century.

You fail to consider that the raison d'etre over at ATP is very different to the raison d'etre here.

Of course, that's very true, I'm just saying their website is a lot nicer looking....modern looking at least and a lot more functional than this relic of the 1990s.

This place most certainly isn't a relic of the '90s!

And the short edit time is nonsense as well,

It makes perfect sense. If you write some stupid thing and someone point it out then you can't go back and edit it saying that you have never said that like many awkward posters would like to do.
