Life / I got beaten and kicks in my face just cuz i dont look polish [205]

You certainly don't need to be in paradise to have fun... quite the opposite.

I agree (for the first time with Ashley) :)

I'm glad you survived your mugging incident and can put it behind you... Do you still hold grudges?

It's been a long time now, so I did put it behind me, but for quite a long time, I was pretty scared to walk the streets alone.

I don't hold grudges anymore and I never thought that black ppl were violent or thieves or anything like that.

10% or so nice people there. Probably students. :)

hahaha, I hope there is more than 10% of nice ppl left in Rotterdam, and no, they were not students. I was a student at the time, and worked in a factory in Barendrecht to make some money during summer holidays. The nice ppl worked in the factory with me :)

Then you must know very few cities. Rottendam is by far the worst city in the Netherlands.

I was sure someone would say that, but I really had a good time in Rotterdam. I met a lot of great people, I went out and had loads of fun, one of my best friends live there...

I didn't say Rotterdam was one of the most beautiful cities, but one of my favourite ones, mam sentyment do Rotterdamu (don't know how to say it in eng).

I would never (anymore) step in when that is taking place.. Because it makes everyone a victim.

You didn't think that I was talking about defending PL men with my own body, did you Ashley? Cause I was just talking about defending them in a discussion, on a forum etc.

The difference being that the OP was attacked due to being different, and you were robbed.

Really? As I had said, I was attacked by 3 black girls and I am Polish. I could as well say they attacked me because I'm blond with blue eyes, hence different then them.

Also, I wasn't robbed, I was attacked. The aim of these girls was to beat me up for fun, I'm 100% sure about that, they stole my bag just "by the way".

Hey, if it'll make you feel any better, it happens to Dutch people too.

you don't need to make me feel any better A J. If you read my other posts, you will find that I enjoyed the rest of my stay in Rotterdam.

since Rotterdam *is* a big city

thanks for telling me, I didn't notice when lived there...

The aim of my post was to show that what happened to Maxine can happen anywhere, that's it.

Nika, it is possible to be assaulted/mugged in any country, but it is NOT acceptable and should not be considered everyday life or the norm.

Of course it should not be considered the norm, but it happens. When it happened to me I didn't go posting all over internet suggesting that Rotterdam is one crazy place to live in. I actually very much enjoyed my stay in Rotterdam, it's one of my favourite cities.

Not matter what your color/nationality/religion/sexuality everyone should feel safe to walk the streets freely

Totally agree on that. I would also like to walk the streets of Kraków freely, without seeing crazy, drunk, half-naked Brits, puking and pissing all over the place. Also, I would like to go out freely, without being harassed by them w stylu: "wanna play" "I want a Polish girl" or whatever it is that they bredzą.

It's all wishful thinking warszawski

Heheh... wow. For a moment there I thought this was a serious discussion. You got me :)

You got me MrEp, but others didn't :)

P.S. Although, in my opinion, there is a grain of truth in what I've said.

They're just getting some boxing practice in...

In what Ashley?

I'd really like to check the statistics. Have you actually seen some data on this subject, or are we both merely speculating here?

No i haven't, I'm speculating. Maybe you could check, and we'll see

But if you correlate the assult statistics by proportion of Poles/foreigners in PL, I'm sure foreigners would be overrepresentated in getting beaten up.

That's because guys that smile (foreigners) are interpreted as trying to provoke some sort of aggressive response - bringing about morbid body rage in the somewhat less highly developed Polish male.

Then, maybe it's because our men are more tough and actually know how to fight? Hence Polisih men get in fight rather than get beaten up, while the delicate foreigners rather get their fragile butts kicked?

I'd argue however that it's much easier to get beaten up when you're a foreigner. Wouldn't you agree?

No, I wouldn't agree. I'm pretty sure that if you checked statistics, you'd find that it's mostly Polish guys who get beat up in Poland.

I'd agree with George8600. You'll find racism everywhere.

And why do you think this has something to do with racism? Do you think it doesn't happen to Polish boys, to get beat up for no reason at all? Well, let me tell you, it does happen to Polish guys as well.

Unfortunatelly, there are people who like to kick somebody's butt for entertainment.
Why are you western people are so quick to call everything racism?

When I lived in Rotterdam, I got beat up by 3 black girls. Just like that, no reason at all, I was just walking home from work. Also, my bag with all my belongings got stolen.

I went to the police station, I gave my statement and guess what...nothing ever happened, they didn't catch the girls, neither did they call me back to give any feedback.

Also, I did not go to post on some blackpeople.com forum to tell what happened to me, and I never thought anything bad about black people, just because some 3 stupid black girls beat me up.

I'm sorry about what has happened to you, but it happens everywhere in the world.

Torq please don't go. All in all, we should feel sorry for the OP. Can you imagine how life/sex/job frustrated one must be to actually spend their time on writing a 1,000,000 words essay about Poland, mostly untrue w dodatku?

I've been in almost every European country and Poland has nothing
to be ashamed of.

Totally agree. There's plenty of BEAUTIFUL, UNIQUE places in PL, that amaze both foreign and domestic tourists. I've hosted many of my foreign friends in Poland, and they were all very pleasantly surprised with the country and the people, and all want to come to Poland again.

AussieSheila: The cities and towns look like the poorest suburb you can find in a city in the west. You gotta be kidding me :) I'm not even talking about Kraków, for example, but loads of smaller cities like Słupsk...

that's because the OP has never seen the poor suburbs in America, or some American cities with overall McDonald's like architecture.

agreed. there is a lot of truth in the OP's post

You agree with...? moderator, please develop your argument.

Love / Why do Polish women prefer foreigners for boyfriends and husbands? [418]

:p get back in your cave

his cave is somewhere in the very middle of Greek nowhere-land's end-za górami za lasami za siedmioma rzekami. Somehow he's heard about Polish/Russian/Ukranian women, and has been fantasising about them ever since...poor thing...let's be gentle with him...

great! is that a promise?

I meant my Iranian friend hun :)

just how do you handle them?

depends on the situation really.

But wonder why you choose to get offended by my comments enough to reply and ignore the others comments which are just horrible!!

Sorry about that hun. I thought you were just another guy who went out with one Polish girl, and thinks that we just love them foreigners more than anything in the world. Usually this kind of wishful thinking makes me laugh, but today mam wojowniczy nastrój.

In the last 4 years I have really seen a massive difference in culture and his demands never cease to amaze me, all of his male friends and family members seem to hold the same superior attitude

Never easy with mixed couples. You guys have to find the golden middle, he has to understand that you will not act like a Polish woman would, but he won't act like a British man would either, and you have to respect it.

Maybe you are both expecting something else from your spouse, but if you want to make your marriage work, you have to meet each other half way.

and today in particular I am really really sick and tired of it...hence this whole rant....

Really sorry to hear that!

What I'm really trying to say is that I admire Polish women and their ability, and clearly judging by your response, desire to put up with it - all power to you.

naaaah, we just know how to handle them - I'll have to teach my friend ;) -and when we don't know what to do, we go see their mama :)

Anyway, all the best, hope it works out for the two of you.

Love / Why do Polish women prefer foreigners for boyfriends and husbands? [418]

I'll explain...posts above are talking about slutty gold-digging polish girls who sleep with the ugliest dudes for material gain

And you take all these posts seriously? I mean you actually base your opinion about Polish women on what is being posted on here?

and you are having a go at ME for suggesting an easier life for you girls

I'm not having a go at you. What I'm trying to say is that those who think that Polish women prefer foreign men are wrong. They are flattering themselves, that's it...

do polish girls like abuse?....confused

I can't help you on that one. Obviously abuse happens, like everywhere in the world, but all my friends are happily married to their Polish men, and they are not being abused. Even my Iranian friend fell in love with a Polish man, and she's soon moving to PL to be with him, so sorry, our men are not as bad as you would like to think.

Life / Who's Leaving Poland? [138]

i, for one, am leaving next year in the winter/early spring.
what about the rest of the expat clan on this forum? my main question is this: how many of you can honestly say that you will stay in Poland forever? how many of you can honestly say that you will stay in Poland 10+ years? how many plan to leave this year/next year? i guess now we'll find out for ourselves, Mr. Torq.

oh well, for all those who are leaving our beautiful country...

History / Why are Jews pestering Poland for "proper" WW2 monetary restitution/reparations? [750]

It's generally accepted that NL is about 20 years ahead of most European countries and at least 60 years of PL,

Bzi, Mare is right. I was even talking about it with my colleagues. For example, in Poland we still think that a man+woman relationship/marriage is normal, while in Netherlands it's already considered a perversion.
