USA, Canada / Can Polish people go to university in the USA (easily) ? [22]

Everybody hates and yet they want to take things from us and live amonst us.

They want to move here because we got the biggest houses with biggest back yards. We also got the biggest wal marts too. We got brand new mansions in America.

Everybody knows the US has got the best stuff and the best houses.

Why are Poles in other countries called "Plastic Poles"? Is it because we use too many credit cards? Resemble plexi glass? Get too much plastic surgery? Use plastic bowls instead of glass? Own stock in Dupont?

Okay I get it. Thanks for the replies. But we really aren't considered to be "fake" Poles in our countries because they see our name and they think we are Polish based on that because Polish names stand out. We get told all the time we are Polish so I don't see us as being fake. Some of us, like me, have lots of family in Poland too. Does that make us fake? Most of half my family is in Poland. Certainly more are there than in this country. So how is that fake? Something just don't jive with this.

Pride and the ego. It's how the species survives. We prop up the ego with pride and this makes it easier to meet our basic needs like food and shelter. If we are proud of who we are, it's easier to convince others to do things for us. Without pride you get nothing. They let you live like a beggar.

Respect is earned, not bought, lol? Then why is it always the rich kids in school that get to be the teacher's pets? Rich kids can get away with more behavior-wise too. It's the ones with their own businesses and lots of equity that get away with everything in society. Well, up to a point. It's the poor who are most likely to end up in jails and prisons. Check the stats!

All my Polish relatives who are in the US except my father and a few others live in New Jersey. My dad was born in Montclair. If you are Polish New Jersey is the place to be!

Yes it's becoming more common. More fast food and more driving instead of walking. Like USA and WE.

It's not the driving instead of walking as much as it's the fast food. We are better off with apples and spinach leafs instead of french fries and ice cream cones.

LAGirl you prolly have no idea where the jews come from. I say Poles and Jews are matched in smarts. They are pretty much equals. I'm Polish and I am way smarter than the average American. Poles are smart. That's the bottom line. So are Jews. We got it in our genes :D

That's happened to me based on my last name too. It's not jewish it's polish but lots of people think everyone with a polish last name is jewish. It's been my experience in the US.

Many Palestinians in refugee camps still hold the keys and deeds to their property in Mandate Palestine.

They might get everything back under the two state solution deal. The idea is hopefully we can get these folks together in Israel all living together under one flag and not fighting. I think it can be achieved. Fundamentally and culturally, Palestinians are only a few hundred years behind everyone else but if we can get them to catch up, they can all live together. The reason they fail is because they are so backwards. They don't realize they would be happier if they were modernized.

Seanus, that isn't true. People all over the world do nice things for others every single day. Saying we are all reduced to "ticks on a piece of paper" status is overdoing it a bit.

Still it's cool someone does something nice for another.

Polish immigrants "everyone knows" are good for cheap, manual work. They typically do not occupy high places on the social prestige scale.

Poles have done excellent in the US, especially the Northeastern part. Where does this stereotype come from? We aren't cheap labor over here.

I've only been thru NM without stopping long. Sounds like it has some nice places. It has a hot air balloon festival but I forget when it is.

If you are going to visit New Mexico, you must stop by at White Sands National Monument. The only bad thing is they test nuclear missiles there.

White Sands is made up of large gypsum dunes that are hard like plaster of paris so you can climb them and walk on them. It's the largest pure gypsum dune field in the world.

There's a walking trail and a trail you can drive thru.
There's a White Sands Institute that offers courses in photography.
Animal species that have become white due to natural selection (lizards, spiders, mice, scorpions, toads) can be found throughout the dunes. It's definitely a must-see.
