Life / Why do people think that I'm Polish ? [92]

i don't look polish at all ...... this morning someone told me are you polish???? ...... ...... are there any manners or common things polish people say that u can realize that that person is polish?????????

When people tell me that I look Polish I take it as a compliment (I'm 1/2 Polish, 1/2 Russian and all American). Perhaps it's your refined manners that give away your Polishness?

Life / Why do people think that I'm Polish ? [92]

I have two master's degrees (one of them from one of the top post graduate schools in the country) and a doctorate from the school ranked #6 in the U.S. I am tall, blonde, refined, slender and green-eyed. My skin is the clearest most beautiful porcelain. I have delicate features, and I have rosy lips, not to mention the hourglass figure and long, long legs!

Ok,ok, you talked me into it. I live in Chicago and I'll buy (you) dinner. You don't mind being seen with an aging but sprite lothario, right?

Life / What Polish people think about the Italian and Spanish men? [39]

(We) think that Spanish and Italian men (and women) are wonderful but our favorites are ambidextrous Brazilians who are 1/4 Aboriginies, 1/4 Macedonian, 1/4 Inuit and 1/4 Hmong. We 'feel' those are the best people.............

Life / Is the word "Polack"rascist? [185]

but I use being a Polack an excuse for when I do something stupid.

I suggest you drop that since it is such a negative connotation about Poles. Tell 'em your German when you do something dumb..........

Life / What is the reason for POLISH jokes ? [486]

When I was a kid (hundreds of years ago), I grew up listening to Bohemian jokes. When I met someone who was Czech I took a good look at him and wondered what was different.

Nothing was but children are impressionable and that's where the ethnic joke is sociologically dangerous.

I rarely hear "Polock jokes" today. About 20 years ago in Las Vegas, I was listening to a comedian who started telling them. I shouted from the audience "tell me the same joke about yourself". The audience was quiet and the comedian asked if I was Polish. I told him "yes, now let's see how funny you are". I was surprised when he apologized.

A few people in the audience applauded (don't know if they were Polish or not).

Genealogy / Red Hair - recessive gene from Poland? [108]

I may be mistaken but I recall reading somewhere that 4% of all Poles are red heads.

Well, Ronald McDonald is a red head and he's doing well...........

Genealogy / Red Hair - recessive gene from Poland? [108]

redheads sometimes need more drugs than other people.

That's just an excuse. Maybe I 'feel' that ex-blonds need more drugs; well, I did before shaving my head.

Life / What is the reason for POLISH jokes ? [486]

I don't think Blacks are free to spout anything offensive they want. Haven't you heard of defamation, libel or slander? It applies to everyone.

Black comedians in particular can and have spoken in the most insensitive way. Whether it's sex, or the "N" word, or characterizing people, there has been an allowance for them.

Only relatively recently have rappers come under (some) attack.

Work / Salary expectations in Poland [373]

I plan to visit Poland for the first time in 2010. Doubt if I'll live there but am curious to know how far $5000 a month (pension) will go. I speak Polish and have some cousins there.

Life / Polish stereotypes of other nationalities!? [472]

French surrendered after 3 weeks (they were attacked only by Germans)

Poland after 45 days (and we were attacked from the both sides: by Germans and by Russians)

Glaswegians doesn't know much history. It's true that some Polish forces were still fighting after one month in Poland. Additionally, Poles never became like the Vichy French and Poles had substantial armed forces fighting Germans in other theatres not to mention the RAF. Paris never had a anything like the "Warsaw Uprising".

Amazing what people don't know and yet develop their opinions on.

History / Poland's King Jan III Sobieski - the stopper of Turkish Janissaries! [64]

a few years back a saw tents and other stuff from the vienna skirmish at a special show at the Chicago Art Institute.. turks had some awesome gear..

I took my then Italian girlfriend to that show at the Art Institute. It must have been 10 years (1999?) ago. A documentary film was also featured that showed Polish hussar history and the Vienna battle.

The "Lion of Lehistan" kicked a lot of butt in his day. Prior to the battle of Vienna, Jan was in charge of 14 previous battles. Some of his adversaries refused to fight him.

Life / 80% of Polish people are boring or can't party, why? [179]

When I lived in Poland I came to the conclusion that it's really hard to find people to have fun with.

Maybe it's you.

I'm gonna make a short list of towns where I used to live in Poland
Krasnik, Lublin, Swidnik, Pulawy, Siedlce, Radzyn Podlaski, Mikolajki

Try Greenland.

Life / 80% of Polish people are boring or can't party, why? [179]

why I didn't have the same problems partying with people in western Europe for example?

Maybe you matured. Maybe your 'vibes' changed. Maybe you stopped wearing big clown shoes, who knows?

Our persona affects how others see and react to us.

Love / What to wear when trying to pick up girls in Poland? [58]

I'ts not so much what you wear but how you wear it. Nevertheless, as a previous poster has already suggested; women are interested in the thickness of a man's wallet first and foremost. That's more sad for the women than for the men for a variety of reasons.

History / The Celts in Poland. [71]

We are both distinct peoples with seperate cultures, traits, genetics, history, and traditions

Absolutely true but I was going farther back than that. It is probable that 10,000-20,000 years ago we were related. Of course you might 'feel' closer to your other nationalities that have immigrated to Ireland? Perhaps the Nigerians? Chinese?

This "we are one" propaganda may exist in happy land, but it does not work like that in the real world.

I also oppose "political correctness" (PC). You are a staunch nationalist. Good luck with that.

Love / WHY DO POLISH MEN LIE? [150]

When talking about lying please note that women are more deceptive than men. Think about it.

Who wears the makeup?
Who um, pads certain body parts?
Who colors their hair?
Who buys ridiculous amounts of shoes? clothes? etc.
Who asks, "do I look fat in (fill in the blank) this?" (and wants a dishonest answer)
Who says "I only look at a cookie and gain 10 pounds" (that's a lie you know)

Yes, yes, there are a relatively few men who fit the above description but the male gender numbers pale to those of women (don't lie to yourself now).

Love / WHY DO POLISH MEN LIE? [150]

everybody knows who's thinking with the head,

The head doesn't lie, it's honest.

women lie her partner, only if she's not completely happy,

Women not happy? Oh, then they lie 95% of the time.

And all about make-up, clothes, hair... Do you really like greasy, stinky and filthy girls???

Is that how women are without make-up, ....etc? ...in their natural state? You are too cruel to women.

EVERYBODY LIES,

That's a lie. (Mother Theresa didn't lie, or wear make-up or color her hair, hmmm, might be something there).

Love / WHY DO POLISH MEN LIE? [150]

:
Who wears the makeup?
Men, maybe even before women...warpaint... ;)

Wearing warpaint is not lying. It is telling enemies, "look out here I come". In fact, warpaint is an outfront warning. No deception there. As a woman you probably don't understand these kinds of things.

Who um, pads certain body parts?
Men! Sock down underpants is not a women thing, neither is it a new thing! ;)

Do you really want to compare how many women pad their bras to the relatively few men (I haven't met any) who do what you suggest? Puh-lease, not even close.

Who colors their hair?
Men. Grecian 2000 was far more well known that many womens hair colouring products. :)

Again, I've previously, in my initial post pointed out that a 'few' men use hair coloring products compared to women. Isn't it amazing how many women are blonds (or redheads) compared to men? Women spend 20 times more on such products than men, and just look at how many advertisements there are for women compared to men when it comes to hair coloring, clothes, shoes, etc, etc. It's not even close.

No Kapusta, women are obviously more deceiving and by a wide margin than men. All one has to do is look around. This begs another related question. Why do so many women dress in such a manner as to be 'sex objects'? What kind of put-on is that? Don't women have free will and use their common sense or will you blame men for that too?

Love / Is Indian/Polish relationship possible? [370]

Polish still have very high level of superiority complex as compared to west europeans.

Poles are pretty much like most everybody else; oh, perhaps in general they are better looking but that shouldn't count.

its surprising that if you are so superior and rich why you are looking for indian investments?

Well, your business men that come to Poland are so colorfully dressed. It's always great to see their beaming suits.

Also why do you watch bollywood ?

...because Poland is trying to start up 'Krakowood'.

So in a way we have nothing to do with poland.

There's not enough love in this room.

May I take the priviledge to ask you worthy polish people, what is it ,that poland has achieved till date?

Poland makes the world's best sex toys.

Name any field

Left field.

Indians have made a name in the field of computers, steels , automobiles.

Don't forget turbans.

Indians had the guts and brains to buy the biggest steel companies in europe, brands like Jaguar. Do poles have the guts to do something like this ?

No but Poles prefer their hearts over "guts", sometimes livers too.

So what is that poles are proud of ?just being whites

Hey, we worked hard over many generations to lighten up.

I think indians should keep a distance from polish people

If they're half Polish is the distance cut in half ?

By the way, I'm throwing a party this weekend, can you come?
