Life / Why are Polish so obsessed with Russia [46]

Abert, if you dislike America and Americans that bad, why don't you go back to Poland, or let's say Vladivostok?
I sense obvious anger in your posts. Why should Poles choose Russians over Americans? Why should Poles choose one of them anyway?
I actually see some complex (inferiority or anything) in your posts.
And I agree with legend, Polish people in general are in good terms with Russians.

Language / How do Poles feel about foreigners learning their language? [105]

This guy speaks an excellent Polish.

I know him, he's been in Poland since the early 90's if I remember well, so he better be fluent in Polish now ;)

Try telling yourself "it's not so hard, I can do it" and results will be startling :)

Of course, I'm not saying it's impossible, nothing is impossible (more or less), but it will surely take me a while to 'master' many aspects of Polish ;)

Here is another commentary to "Polish is very hard, impossible to learn for non-Slavs" discussion:

That's a very interesting article. Even if I didn't say Polish was 'impossible' to learn for non-Slavs ;)

Language / How do Poles feel about foreigners learning their language? [105]

very easy for people whose native language is a slavic language.

Of course, Slavic languages are very closely related. But, as you said, for the rest of the world, Slavic languages, and especially Polish, are very difficult. In Polish, one word can have tens of different forms. I'm speaking as a Frenchman (who's also half Polish), I think it would be a bit easier for me to learn German than Polish, even if German is not a Latin language.

Polish is easy only if you speak another language that is very close to it. Otherwise it's not.

English for instance has a superficially "simple"- looking grammar (one reason why far too many people believe they can speak English well), yet a ferociously difficult spelling/pronunciation correlation:-)

Yes, but in the worst case, you speak English with a strong accent. That's not possible with Polish tho ;)

Language / Polish/Ukrainian words similarities [209]

In another Slavic language, "Chvala!" means "Thank you!". I believe it's Croatian

Yes, hvala, Croatian ;)

Travel / Poland Baltic Sea holiday [30]

Depends what you call 'good beach'.

Here, Jurata is ranked 25th of the best Polish beaches. Mrzeżyno is ranked 23rd.
And here, Jurata doesn't even show.
I know it probably means nothing, but you can't say Jurata is the nicest beach.

Travel / Poland Baltic Sea holiday [30]

do you know how long it takes from airport to the coast?

If you have a car, it's not too far. I'd say about 2 hours to Mrzeżyno. Maybe a bit less.

any suggestions for hotels will be appreciated.

If you have money, Venus is probably one of the best hotels in Mrzeżyno ;)
I used to go to this one, krysztalowaprzystan.pl, but the owner changed recently, I have no idea how it is now.

be warned that it will be crowded and you could spend the entire time stuck in your hotel with the rain.

I went there many times, and it's not so crowded and the weather is generally nice.
July is usually better than August.

Mrzeżyno

Ah, Mrzeżyno, old memories, good ones ;)
Dźwirzyno is nice too, but bigger. Well, longer.
These white beaches are nice and clean.
And yes, Szczecin airport is the closest.

Life / Is living cost in Poland lower than Germany ? [32]

Yes, much lower. I'd say that Germany (like France I guess) is way too expensive, in a way ;)
Poland is much more affordable. Of course, it depends on how much you make every month.
In Poland, you can have a decent life with around 4000PLN, net (around 1000 euros). Maybe a bit more in big cities.

News / John Godson, born in Nigeria, might become Poland Sejm's first black deputy! [313]

If you think this is good and you are so desperate to prove your anti-non-racist credentials, come and hav a look at London and see where it will end, this is exactly what we did, spent all our time trying to prove our anti-non-racist credentials, now we are a minority in our Capital and many of our major cities. Wow! what a achievement, and they still hate us and call us, Racist.

I'm French, so I see the point (even if I don't really agree).
But the situation is very different in Poland. This guy was not elected because of his skin colour. And Blacks are still a very small minority in Poland anyway.

News / Barbara Piasecka Johnson, Maid Who Married Multimillionaire, Dies at 76 [57]

All redheads are dangerous.

Just redhead girls or...? ;)

It's noticeable that young women marry poor old guys all the time. It's the latest fad.

Well, let's think things differently. You know these unusual couples because they are celebs.
There are other unusual couples, but they're 'normal' people and don't appear in magazines.

I only commented to another posters reference that this was a Cinderella story. Women seem to like them.

And men like football and cars. Except that I know many guys who don't like football and cars. Stereotypes, you probably know them enough to avoid them ;)

I see potential in you.

I'm very flattered.

Oh, it must have been true love. I'm sure she would have married him even if he was dirt poor :)

Maybe yes, maybe not. Of course, it's quite unlikely, but 'guessing' is not right.

Absolutely true, IF he was in his right mind.

Since we don't know, we can't tell. Right?

I only play smart.

Playing smart doesn't mean you're right anyway, quite a big difference here ;)

Ah, every woman's dream. Marry a wealthy man

Yes, all women are greedy and selfish. Real monsters ;)
And Zimmy is a real masculinist. Which is your right, of course.

They're quite excellent aren't they?

Humour and denial, that'll help ;)

You liberals never learn.

There you go again. Same arguments, over and over again. And I should learn? From you? No thanks.

I believe we were discussing Mrs Johnson but being a liberal, it's difficult for you to focus on the pertinent discourse.

You discuss Mrs Johnson as you discuss women in general. Don't play stupid.

It shows with your many false assumptions and straw-dog arguments, some listed in quotes above. At least I don't in knee-jerk fashion call someone a "hater", a "racist", etc.

Says the guy who makes loads of assumptions based on discutable sources.

It would seem that any opinion that does not agree with yours is deemed "anger"

Nope, just have a look at all your posts here. You are the angry one. Most of your posts are to denigrate women.
You must have had some serious issues with women.

I merely think that instead of taking hundreds of millions Ms Johnson could have been
more decent if she took $100 million and left the rest to the kids. That's my opinion.

I'm not so sure the Johnsons need your opinion. I think they thought the whole thing through and decided that's what they wanted.

Unless you know them personally (and not some other Polish woman), what do you know about them? How is it your problem?

You seem to assume so much incorrectly. It's a 'gift' you have.

Thanks for listing my gifts. But no, you don't know them personally. Or prove it. Did you talk to their kids maybe? Or heard gossips?

My honest opinion only loses "credibility" with the ignorant.

Yes, once again, calling others ignorants helps you convince yourself you're the right one. Sad.

You "love" the fact that Ms Johnson married into a fortune and that Mr. Johnson's kids were cheated out of many millions of dollars?

Zimmy, Zimmy... Spitting his anger again, even tho he knows the heck nothing about their lives. *rolling eyes*
Buddy, you lose your credibility with such reactions. Be careful.

News / 2012 - 2013 Will be the most severe Polish winter. [38]

Oh my! Yesterday: blue sky, 12°C, open coat... Today, 0°C, looooads of snow (I'd say about 15-20 cms), it's all white outside.
I'm hesitating between greeting Happy Easter and Merry Christmas, honestly...

Language / Slavic accent correction [110]

"ę" and "ą" are not like the nasal sounds of French

Well, it's quite close ;)
Especially with ą, between the French 'an' in 'quand' (when) and 'on' in 'mon' (my).

Language / Wesołego Alleluja or Wesołych Świąt? [30]

Technically, it means " Happy World" which doesn't translate too well into English.

It's not świat, it's świĄt, I think it comes more from 'saints' than 'world', but maybe I'm wrong. Someone should find the etymology (I tried, but not that easy when you don't master Polish).
