Polish hero pilot lands 767 without wheels. (Warsaw)

LOT plane Boeing 767 has just landed safely in Warsaw without wheels , just on its trunk.

No injuries.

Absolutely fantastic landing. I've just watched the video, and it was absolutely spot on - to take the plane down so smoothly and without incident in such a situation is praise-worthy.

Well done to that pilot! I assume he wasn't under severe pressure as Protasiuk RIP was. It makes a big difference.

Apparently he was quite old and very experienced, but no confirmation.


No pressure, just a total failure of the landing/nose gears to lower. No pressure at all...

He was under no pressure for sure, could stay in the air till next weekend thinking what to do...

Not severe pressure as certain landing techniques were available to him. Commendable landing!

amazing job. and this is why I won't fly Lot until they get their new fleet.

Hats off to him. Absolutely textbook landing, and for there to be no injuries is a sign of how stunningly great that landing was.

can't argue with that. i've been on worse landings when the aircraft had wheels.

I've applauded the quality of LOT pilots on here several times before, but that doesn't seem to matter to American idiots who like moaning about the food, or love complaining about customer service because they wouldn't change their non-refundable ticket.

I know which I would rather have - you can't eat a gourmet sandwich in hell :D


The report states that one person was taken to hospital, but that's still not much. Bet there's lots of bruised LOT-hating American egos though :)

I'm convinced that LOT pilots are actually very very well trained - the sheer skill of this landing (and watching it several times - look how little the plane bumped upon landing!) says it all. Obviously the food and service isn't to American standards - I mean, how dare they serve Polish food while being merely polite?

And as for the moaning about non-refundable tickets - obviously, American carriers would refund a non-refundable ticket.....or maybe not. But at least they can pretend that they would.

There's certainly a reason why LOT and not the military handles VIP flights these days.


One person is absolutely nothing given the circumstances, and they could easily have injured themselves on the slides (common, apparently).

The plane was 14.5 years old and flew intercontinental flights, so not old at all. And it's exceptionally rare for this sort of thing to happen.

i wouldn't like to be in the shoes of the chief mechanic (before flight) who checked the box.. 'good to go'.

Pilot is realy hero %100,congratulations. But this case made an idea come to my mind, air planes dont need tire. Just air ports landing field upholster with magnets and airplanes bottom upholster with magnets and with sensor airplanes landing very saftey and easy.

A nice bit of flying! I bet there were lots of skidmarks and not just those on the runway.

That`s right , the safety of airlines does not necessarily depend on the equipment , because they are mostly equipped with Boeings ,being about the same age all of them , but the professionalism of the crew . I will choose LOT as my primary air carrier for my next flights , for its superb pilots and other crew members .

I'm sure they'll be along soon to complain about something LOT-related :)

I'm afraid he was Polish-American. He forgot to drop the landing gears because he was too busy talking to his "busia" on the radio. LOL!!

Ryanair crash land a few hundred flights every day and it never makes the news headlines.

O yeah , when and where did they happen ? I have just heard about one emergency landing , but the plane had its normal landing , just few birds came inside the engines.

Couldn't agree more. My worst landing was with Ryan Air. It was so brutal that I thought it was crashing when wheels touched the ground. As the saying goes, "you get what you pay for"... On the other hand, my best landing was with American Airline, hardly felt we were touching the ground.

Hats off to this LOT pilot. I watched it almost live on TV this afternoon. That's incredible the plane didn't even slightly fell apart.

Seems it was a LOT stewardess who broke her leg. I guess you'll have to find something else to bash yanks about.
