Life / Is parity the answer for Polish women? [262]

If that's what you "see" then check your vision, prompto.

that is your argument ? I was hoping you could do better, but never mind.

Life / Is parity the answer for Polish women? [262]

It's an elitist, sexist argument, a flawed argument.

it is not. I will tell you why. I have read this thread and I have been observing what is happening re parity in Poland and most men don't want it. I am just making an observation. Why would men want to decide what it good for women and for that matter why would anybody decide what is good for another person, eh?

- Well, is it possible there were white men and women who knew slavery was wrong even when it was still legal? How come? How could they relate? After all, they were white?? Now change the color of one's skin to one's gender and tell me how this is any different?

OK, relating and being in someone else's shoes are two different things. There are limits to relating to things imo.

- They're exactly the same. Theft. You award a person with a position (money, benefits, etc.) based on what's between his/her legs and not his/her knowledge and experience.

in your opinion, not mine. We are talking about parity in the Polish government- a direct representation of the society.

- If parity is achieved simply because there were just as many talented and experienced men as women then yes, it's a great thing.

that would be my understanding. I will not have it any other way.

- Today however, parity is a government tool of reverse discrimination, or revenge discrimination. In the US it's achieved via the so called "affirmative action", a term created by the politically correct crowd. In Sweden until very recently the affirmative action was called "positive diskriminering", or "positive discrimination", positive for some (women and minorities) and negative for others (primarily white males).

perhaps based on what has been happening it the US. Poland has a different make up of the society and I don't see the correlation.

Isn't is a result of what happened in the past re admitting more men then women? Is has not been overturned. It is just the natural reaction to the number of admitted white males. It will balance itself eventually.

However, government sponsored discrimination is just as wrong.

How would you implement the changes if they would not be imposed by the government then? How would you secure equality to people, women? I am curious.

PS. I am turning in. Long day:)

Life / Is parity the answer for Polish women? [262]

I know you aren't, I've followed you long enough to know that (no, I'm not a"stalker" :))

so why do you even use those words? I see the reason for parity in the Polish government, you don't. You talking it way to personally Sky.

Yet your sarcastic comment about me not being able to understand because I'm a man is a typical femi-nazi argument.

It wasn't sarcastic. I merely pointed out that most men are not able to relate to parity issue because they are not women. Simple. That said I am sure you are an expert on many things.

I don't have to steal to know that theft is wrong.

parity and stealing are two different things, there is no comparison, how could there be. I don't see parity as a negative, but a positive thing.

Discrimination, whether on a personal level or on a government sponsored level is ALWAYS wrong.

Parity in my view has nothing to do with discrimination, why would you even think that?

Here. This is the place where women belong anyways:) (sarcasm)

Life / Is parity the answer for Polish women? [262]

I see, as a man I'm totally clueless and have no right to express my opinions. Additionally I don't live in Poland and therefore I know even less. Frauen über Alles, femi-nazism has gotten to your head.

you have the right to express your opinion, which you did, so I am not sure why you are putting words in my mouth? However the truth is that you have not visited Poland in a long time- things have changed a LOT.

I am not a femi- nazi, what is wrong with you lol

The parity is a serious business here in Poland and I am a lil surprised that you treat it lightly. Freuen uber Alles has nothing to do with parity, but you must have attended some meetings I am not aware of lol therefore the vocabulary lol

If you fancy some strong women it is none of my business;)

I couldn't give an educated opinion

right.

Truer words couldn't have been spoken. Logical, to the point and accurate.

yep, you are really concerned since you are a Polish woman and you live in Poland.

So "most" Polish women are airheads based on your personal experiences??

very limited experience, but she def has an opinion.

Back to the topic. Yes, Polish women need that parity and it will happen in the future. Polish women are as capable to be in the government as Polish men.

Real Estate / CZYNSZ - payment issue - help [43]

it is a realistic advice, the guy had a gentlemen agreement. Did you miss it?

to the OP. Pay the czynsz and get out. Otherwise they will drag you through courts. It is NOT worse the trouble, unless you have some way of talking to these guys instead of posting on forums. Deal with them in a polite way - since you have had good relationship with them in the past.

gentlemen agreement nor the ladies agreement don't exist in Poland. My take is: the owners are experiencing some financial problems.

Sell the apartment since I can only see the situation worsening in regards to the building.

Or, perhaps they have a buyer and want you out of the building - nasty way of doing it.

It's not a third world country.

Aphrodisiac, at first I took your comment as a compliment, then your further posts confirmed that you have a problem with my ' divine' body, as well as with my confessions, and that you were sarcastic :(,

first of all this is an Omnibus thread where people have to/ should be sarcastic since it was started by Sszarlotka who I admire for his writing, observation, sarcastic skills. My bad. I am sarcastic to say the least. That is why I attempt to write here from time to time. He was writing about many people of this forum and nobody got offended, just the opposite, because everybody knew that this is the place to do that.

Sarcasm is not popular in some cultures, so some people may get offended, but it is a communication style as any other. For me sarcasm is like a reduced high quality sauce, which is cooked by the best chefs around the world, because it improves the flavour of food we have to eat every day.

Aphrodisiac, are you the Renaissance woman? :)

I don't know. I have many interests, but I would never put myself in that category. I can change the oil in the car - does that make me that woman?

I came to this forum a long time ago and I found many different cultures posting here. I often misunderstood their posts because of the different communication style.

Flagless is in his own category to say the least. He is a brilliant writer with a twisted sense of humour, but I love reading his posts because they add some sauce to PF.

As for your divine body. It is just a body and we all have them. To make an altar of ones body is not in my culture at all. We have different values.

Now, here is an example of sarcasm taken to the net level:)

USA, Canada / Moved back from Canada to Poland:). Here are the reasons why. [868]

but they are taking away the desire for independence by not allowing a child to feed themselves.

There is a sense of pride in oneself in knowing that you have a strong character and you are able to stand up for yourself.

agree with that 100%. Parents will not always be around for their kids to defend them and kids need to have a healthy self esteem but the time they go to school.

I teach kids and the other day I saw one of my fav students missing classes. She would cry when she came in and just a week before she loved being in the class. I noticed it and talked to her mother. She recognized that her daughter is not taught enough and allowed her to handle the situation herself. One of the boys was bullying her in my class and one day during the lesson she lightly pushed him away. The bullying stopped, she is happy coming to class. I informed the mother about what happened. The girl handled the situation herself without her mother's and mine interference. We both monitored her, but left her some room to resolve the conflict. I had a short but to the point convo with the boy too. He got the message, yet we both tried not to be overprotective. After a year she is much happier and more confident girl, who likes to help others.

Kudos to the mother, who is a teacher too. So there are all kinds of parents in Poland IMO.

looks like it has been quiet here for a bit and I hate when people take their crap and argue on my thread.

Since I have nothing to say, or perhaps too much to say, I will say nothing because I cannot be bothered and I would rather go shopping anyways, since I have nothing to eat.

In the meantime I will be posting random stuff on my thread since I can go off topic and fek all I can.

So, to many members of PF:

If you didn't hear it with your own ears or see it with your own eyes, don't invent it with your small mind and share it with your big mouth.

USA, Canada / Moved back from Canada to Poland:). Here are the reasons why. [868]

Its a cultural issue IMO. Strong family values etc..

of course it is, although I understand Pip's point of view since too since I am familiar with how Canadians raise their children and it is cultural thing as well.

Its a good thing, i mean better that than the middle ground or opposite - right.

It depends on the case. I guess it is good to be close and attached when they are small and dependent, not when they are 9 years old and are in public place having a fit and parents don't react.

However, I don't children, so I am not willing to get involved in a discussion about raising them. Middle ground is the best IMO, so it cutting the cord at one point.

I recently was a witness to parents saying Goodbye to their child going to uni and this child will have a hell of a time since she is still attached way too much to her parents, therefore instead of having a great time in her life she is too stressed out with all the novelties. I was raised in a similar way and I don't see anything good about it.

We are making observations here, don't we?

USA, Canada / Moved back from Canada to Poland:). Here are the reasons why. [868]

Boys are sucky babies in this country. Their parents put tights on them and spoon feed them till they are 12. This is not a generalization- this is true. I have two hockey playing strong girls that could kick the panties off any of these sucky boys.

Since you mentioned it. I agree. Boys in Poland get away with things, so do girls- children here are spoiled for sure and way too attached to their parents.

Not good

So is PF. An endless source of strange posts, often detached from reality.

Unless you are Natasa - she always supplies us with one more pic of her divine body, one more post, a true confession on a Renessainse woman. Later she regrets the fact that the number of women posting on PF have decreased. Really?

Missing in action

espana, Dephi and Harry. Got shot by the Texas mod. After all her lessons in target shooting paid well. I imagined espana tavelling to Warsaw for the independence day - but the pay was poor and he wanted to take siesta - so no political activities for him this week.

Crow couldn't make it to Warsaw this year, which explained the sad face of the Polish PM.

Flagless has been missing in action too. He must have stopped reading Bukowski and has no reason to torture himself on PF anymore. Not sure which is worse.

Visiting the country after 25 years of absence.

Those stories always make me wonder why people wait for so long instead of not going at all. Rybnik was good in building the anticipation and seemed to gather some solid audience by the time he actually made it to Poland. If I didn't know he was a GP, I would think he could have had a pretty good shot at writing Hollywood scripts.

Szarly.
He seems more relaxed and happy after he released himself from the obligation of writing on PF. I miss his sense of humor (American spelling to tick him off), but he doesn't realize that Life of Pi's almost last line in that book has some bearings on his state of mind.

What was dull became sharp and the other way around it.

Polmed.
Need I say anything else. No amount of my sharp tongue would have sufficed.

PF Krakow meeting.
Not sure what happened there, but I know that my absence have left some so sad that even the feisty Irish singing could not console them.

Reborned

Greggy has finally found his reasoning for spitting on the German tourists some years ago. Patience is always rewarded.

Life / Poles don't know how to celebrate the Polish Independence Day? [57]

I am looking forward to some time off to catch up with stuff, or just relax. Why celebrate that day if we are bombarded with the politic on regular basis. I just want to relax. So do many Poles. Some people go away to have a longer weekend.

Pip and aphro - I think my earlier "new shoes" analogy was spot on? ;)

well, yes. I like new and shiny, but I am also practical and I am no Manolo lady by any means. Ecco shoes and Keens are something I would be interested in, so applying this analogy to airplanes what airlines would you recommend? I think KLM fits the bill. Practical, fun, durable, comfortable and safe:)

Work / So I received an offer from a Poland language school - what's your take on this? [59]

They're trying to contract the work to me so the way I see it, they have most likely promised something which they are having problems delivering on.

aha. Got yah. From my experience that seems to happen very often in order to keep the client. We will serve you as long as you are our client, but we will figure out how to do it later;). That is where you come into picture.

I finally am legally allowed to operate my own school, which I am doing, so I am not terribly keen on answering to anyone other than the client.

congratulations and good luck.

And while you might not steal the client, there's no harm in using it to promote yourself if they want extra classes. I always lived by the philosophy that the more contacts you make, the more work you can find.

that I agree with, but that pertains to all business.

Seems to be an almost universal trait - never have I met more self-important people than methodology directors.

ha. It is a milking job for them most of the time.

I really should get round to posting a thread about schools (and people) to avoid in Poland.

good idea.

in general I try to avoid LOT for the reasons mentioned by pip. Those planes are just not well taken care of.

The last time I flew with them I was kept at the airport inside the plane for 2 hours both ways without the explanation. I admire Wrona and the like, but the company cannot stand alone on good pilots, the fleet needs new planes. Or refurbish the old ones.
