USA, Canada / Moved back from Canada to Poland:). Here are the reasons why. [868]

love your observations!
my favourite is Mr Stasiu and his nibblings which drove the driver insane. What kind of professional driver is he to get upset over such a trivial thing. And the tour guide's tears! Hahaha! I could picture the scene ( I too have been on a few guided bus tours. I happen to like them)

I'm actually thinking of bringing my family on one throughout Poland.

History / An American studying medicine in the PRL 1978-1985: my story [142]

In the Wałbrzych region quite a few actually - miners who lived and worked in Belgium and France and who returned to Poland, lured by PRL promises.

This too is fascinating.
I'm learning a lot (all because of one word)

History / An American studying medicine in the PRL 1978-1985: my story [142]

I somehow remember the word "menu" adorning "bill of fares" of many restaurants during PRL

I think you and I travelled in different gastronomical circle Boletus. I remember Karta Dań but not menu. Maybe once in a hotel but that was the exception.

News / Czech drug legalisation threatens Poland [111]

No it's not totally harmless BUT it's most definitely benign when compared to cigarettes, alcohol. All this pot-demonizing po prostu angers me.
It's all bull-sh++.
Legalize pot and tax it like you do booze and cigs.

News / Czech drug legalisation threatens Poland [111]

Polish drug experts on TV regularly emphasise that there is no such things as soft, harmless or recreational drugs

I've never ever, ever treated anyone in my 25 years of being a physician (a sizeable portion of that time in inner city clinics) for a pot-related emergency/illness!

I can't say the same for nicotine and alcohol.........You guys can do the math on the meth, crack and heroin.

Life / Polish vs British vs American - Clash of cultures [390]

In Warsaw you can`t get lost. Life is so much easier here.

Hahaha! The visual is priceless!
Let's remember though, that all the great subway systems began as Warsaw's: point A to point B.........It's just the start

UK, Ireland / Crap parenting in our UK youth today (in Poland it's a little better) [52]

but the slap across the face my mother gave me has left a lifetime scar. It takes away the trust and respect children have for their parents.

I too was slapped in the face by my father. It was humiliating. My father possibly saw the hurt in my eyes because he never, thankfully, hit me again anywhere.
