News / Poland's Economy Is Booming! The EU's Success Story? [711]

So now we know... you dislike of the British then probably comes from your hatred of the Protestants!!!

Sorry that is bonkers, since when were British all 'Protestants'?
Where have I professed 'dislike' for the British?
How do you know what religion I am?
It's because of people like you making assumptions that I do not get involved in discussions about Ireland.

What makes you think this is interesting? Time for you to move on I think.

I noticed that you ommited Ireland from the list of countries! Is there a reason??

because my little list was just a few...if I had done the whole list I would have RSI by now.
I left Ireland off cos i don't ever get involved in discussions about it for family reasons.

. the British were instrumental in stamping out the slave trade..

certain British philanthropists you mean. Bristol and Liverpool were built on the slave trade, as were the fortunes of the Tate family (tate gallery)
Get real Gydnia Guy.
And yes. Iraq, when it was known as Mesopotamia, FYI.

News / Poland's Economy Is Booming! The EU's Success Story? [711]

Do you know how the average India views the British Empire? As a bunch of thieving, raping, murdering bastards. They won't forgive or forget, note how little they buy from the UK. They hate the British.

quite a silly sweeping statement.....if Indians hated the British so much they wouldn't want to live here would they? Or play cricket?
Also the English language is a unifying force for them now.
Not that I am saying British colonists were angels or anything like that....but I have met plenty of Indians and Sri Lankans who really didn't seem to hate me for my nationality. Move on.

As for OP, are there ANY success stories in the EU right now? Germany?

News / Poland's Economy Is Booming! The EU's Success Story? [711]

If stealing from conquered lands made you rich then Italy would be one of the richest countries and the planet! So naive!!!

Whatever do you mean? Italy had hardly any colonies, just Libya for a short while I think.

Take a good hard look and apart from Zimbabwe and failing South Africa every 'conquered' country feeds it's own people, has a good infrastructure and stable governments

umm..are you sure? ..Somalia? (British Somaliland) Nigeria? Sierra Leone? Sudan? Eritrea? Pakistan? Iraq?
Anyway back to the OP, if Poland's economy was 'booming' why would so many people be seeking work elsewhere?

Food / Where to buy British mature Cheddar Cheese and salted butter in Poland? [289]

Too bad they didn't nominate a Pulitzer Prize for fiction, you woulda won, hands down. If you just type in "Gross Br--" the Google auto-complete directs you immediately to "Gross British Food". I mean really, a gastronomical talking-down from the eaters of black pudding, tripe, and lamb's hearts. You guys have great BEEF, sure, but by the time you're done BOILING it, it's as bland as any of your sewage. Dressing down Polish cuisine as provincial and archaic from a Brit! Help me, Jebus!

you are just dealing in tired and offensive stereotypes. How could boiled beef taste like sewage? Don't be silly. Anyway British food has moved on from post wartime. What do you eat in Alabama? Roast squirrel?

Lets get back to the subject of the thread please.

UK, Ireland / Sooo many Polski Sklep in the UK, LOL [64]

Apparently the BBC, and The Telegraph is "Crap information"

I don't doubt the veracity of your sources, the 'crap' I referred to you was you wasting your time
digging out these statistics. Have you any statistics on British 'neets' (16-18 year olds, not in education work or training) for example?

Love / Do Irish / British guys like Polish girls? [138]

That said, I myself am a narrow-minded, mentally unwell, emotionally constipated, alcohol-addicted, semi-illiterate, really foul-smelling philistine

hudsonhicks
Does it really matter?
so you have had a good look around then?
Sometimes we drive to the nearest Polski Sklep because of the good bread and ham and sausage etc., and notice there are chairs and a coffee table in the corner,

so its like a meeting place I suppose.
What is wrong with that?
Sad Brits spend hours driving up and down the costas weeping for heinz baked beans and marmite.
What's the difference?

Life / Health system in Poland one of the worst in Europe: report [78]

then you will probably be safer in an East coast hospital as the staff are more likely to be either British or Indian/Pakistani's (GP's with 10 years minimum training) and not get rich quick Polish/Latvian or Czech staff who have had poorer education and less international standard training .

well I don't know...you might have a point....

Life / Health system in Poland one of the worst in Europe: report [78]

The UK has some of the world best teaching hospitals having worked in a couple i know the standard and thus the reason why I query Polish medical care.

I stand corrected, I was just being London-centric, but you must admit that these big city places are way above small town hospitals.
One time my stepmother actually took the train to London rather than turn up at A and E in her east coast town.

Life / Health system in Poland one of the worst in Europe: report [78]

My personal experiance of the NHS is very good, however, my local hospital is the Kensington and Chelsea.

that's right...the big London hospitals are really good, the provincial places much less so.

Real Estate / Poland's apartment prices continue to fall [1844]

So you think if we buy this flat, renovate it totally then rent it for 2000 pln per month is too much. So should I just charge half that because you think the market is not fair?

if making money out of homes and other people's insecurity and poverty is your thing, fine.
Bragging about it, and suggesting that this makes you superior to others, is something else.

News / Forbes: Boot Argentina from the G20 and include Poland [44]

people come to this forum because for some reason they are interested in Poland, they live there or have Polish partners or whatever.
If you feel so very negative, don't bother coming here, go to Spanish forums maybe, unless they already kicked you out?

USA, Canada / Living in Poland - prospects for Alabama guy ... need some advice! [146]

she won't go to any Meet-Ups of other stay at home moms

yeh but honestly those meeting are horrendous, full of psycho new moms who are so competitive they are comparing AGPAR scores and baby penis size, I swear. Plus they are REALLY cliquey.

I would not blame any mom who refused to go.
It is 99 per cent certain you would not meet any potential real friend at one of those groups.

Love / What am i to do knowing i can't get to see my Polish daughter [10]

She is saying that i will be interfering with her school exams/work and because of my obvious lack of Polish i should not even bother coming during my leave to see her

bullshit what 'work and exams' do 6 year olds have?
Stand your ground, even rent or buy a flat around the corner from her, as suggested by Natasia.

Real Estate / leaving apartment in Poland to bank [5]

Your apartment can be seized and sold if you can't repay it, but it don't end your debt if auction price didn't match your debt. If you just leave it, and stop paying you most probably will end up with enourmous debt due to interests in couple of years from now...

right that is true, same in UK, my bro had a flat repoed in the 80s, I think he just walked away, well he got a huge bill years later.

Better you think of other options.

Life / Teenage Pregnancy in Poland [108]

I think I'd rather be mother to a 16 year old at 34 than sobbing my heart out into a glass of chardonnay, as the unlucky ones do ...

too right natasia, teen mothers are not necessarily the terrible thing that people perceive them as..if you are going to be a good mum, it does not matter if you are 16 or 45.

At least as a young mother, you have the energy for sleepless nights and being skint...and what is wrong with learning responsibility young anyway?
