Life / What can citizens do to make Poland a better place to live? [125]

Or at least there aren't if you turn round in your seat and actually look that way as well as using your mirrors (instead of reversing Polish style by just using the mirrors).

The Poles in the US always fail that part of their driver's license exam. No matter how much you tell them to look around when passing their exam, they ignore you, then they wonder why they failed.

Life / Reasons for moving to Poland [291]

It's not really a risk because you can always come back. It will be great for your children to learn another language, live in another culture. Poland isn't as bad now, things are much better than 20 years ago.

USA, Canada / Sending packages from US to PL, cheapest alternative? [36]

but USPS cant insure or track international shipments.

Not true. I work for the USPS. You too can insure a package to Poland, but not a small package, it has to weigh more than 4 pounds, which has an insured tracking number or you can send it registered mail, which costs more while the contents are more valuable.

Nobody can guarantee the package will get there because of certain unforseen "accidents" but USPS will give you your money back if the package does not arrive. Hold on to your receipts.

Love / Married polish women:Are they hot? [79]

That's true, but then they look at what you're wearing. They eye you up, first your hair all the way down to your shoes.

Polonia / Ever been to Sweden? [185]

Very interesting sprawozdanie Kowalski. When I flew over there last year I thought the plane's gonna land on water because the airport in Copenhaggen is right on the shore. Then took a train going under the channel to Malmo, Sweden. That was cool.

Been there only once so far, but would like to visit again.

Polonia / Ever been to Sweden? [185]

I haven't been in Sweden long enough to get to know everything about the country. Didn't dwell deep enough into their sexual enlightments or their stand on abortion, etc. But I noticed like you said they don't tolerate unsocial behaviour.

Polonia / Ever been to Sweden? [185]

I found Swedish people really cool. I noticed that in Sweden they are more open to new ideas than in Poland, the catholic religion doesn't rule there and they are more open minded with a relaxed sense of feeling. They do not stare at you if you are dressed differently while in Poland some women will stare you down and criticize your clothes, your hair.

Food / POLISH RECIPES! [287]

Maybe it was a chicken soup with "kołduny" in it? "kołduny" are flour or potato filled with meat or mushroom filling inside

I was disappointed (besviket) though that their English wasn't better than it actually was. Gosh, even educated Poles often speak better English

I don't agree with that. I found many more Swedes speak English than they do in Poland. In Poland more people under 40 speak more English, but in Sweden even older people know it.

Genealogy / Grandmother, surname Lipski (Katowice) [4]

The town is spelled Katowice. You can check with the records in that town, although a lot of them were destroyed during the war.

USA, Canada / Canadian wanting Polish Citizenship? [30]

You need to bring your son's birth certificate to the registration office in Poland where your husband is registered. What city is he from?

If you can't do it in person you can give someone in Poland the power of authority to do it.
