Life / Is it McPoland? [63]

They have added a lot of choices to the menu. There's also a new Smore's pie and a few smoothie varieties along with their McCafe choices like Frappacinos and such. Much more than those artery clogging hamburgers. They have taken some clues from Sonic and added whipped cream and other amenities to their shakes. Quality has gone up. The french fries are only good when they are fresh though. What I don't like is when they make a ton of fries and leave them sitting at the fry station for thirty minutes so they get dried out and stale. They taste awful but when they are fresh they are the best except for Freddy's. Freddy's Frozen Custard has the best fries imho.

Life / Is it McPoland? [63]

mcdonalds is revolting. and everything it stands for. it has single handedly changed the way meat is manufactured the world over.

That's the worst thing about it. I never buy the McBurger.

One thing I have noticed, they are slowly but surely phasing out the silly clown and making Mcdonald's more like Starbucks in atmosphere. It's not nearly as garish.

Mcdonald's deserves careful scrutiny. If it gets too big, it will control Poland's food production. Maybe keeping it small is a good idea. America is pretty controlled by Mcdonald's which is why we have those huge commercialized animal feeding operations.

Travel / Is Sleeping in Car in Poland (while passing) legal? [13]

And dont forget to dress in lots of layers and bring a pair of insulated gloves and a hat that covers the ears. I like ones with earflaps that tie under the chin. With a good hat, long sleeves, a t shirt and insulated gloves, I dont feel the cold. The hat and gloves are essential in frigid temps!

Oh and on your feet, might want to invest in a good pair of snowboots and some kind of insulated or self warming socks. Just be sure your head, hands and feet are protected. You can buy some hand warmers, too. They fit in your pocket and keep your hands warm.

Life / Schizophrenia treatment in Poland [19]

You would however find the services here to be rather different than you are used to.

Now I am curious. How are they different? Are there just less services or some other kind of treatments entirely?

Real Estate / Poland's apartment prices continue to fall [1844]

Not really, they only have less money to spend if the interest rate on their mortgages increase.

When housing prices fall, no more refinancing and it's harder to get the value of the mortgage out of selling the house. If it's an apartment, it means the owner will get less each month for rent. If he gets less, he spends less. This has a ripple effect in the economy.

sorry man you got me confused there, can you elaborate?

When prices are higher, people spend more money. When prices start falling, they no longer have the extra money to spend. This causes economic chaos. It's the flattening of the bubble that causes things like recessions and depressions.

Oh so its just confusing for them so they do the easiest thing possible. I can see why it would be a problem. Thanks isthatu, it is becoming more clear. However, this raises another concern...just how safe is it with all these confused lorry drivers on the highways?

As for rest stops, you are aware the UK is smaller than most of your States arnt you?

What does that have to do with it? If people are parking on the shoulder it's because there isn't another place for them to park.

If the guy was in fact British instead of Polish, this forum would be much more brutal towards him. Can you imagine the response if a stiff upper lipped Brit acted like that? It might have been funnier though since it is along the lines of British humor. This incident with the Polish driver fits the criteria as well.

The thing about it is the Polish man is acting the exact opposite of what is expected of men in the British culture.

But the thing is, Jon, it's not a problem like it, apparently, is in Britain due to the numerous places trucks can park legally along the route. This seems to be a broad problem on this channel. It needs addressing. Maybe this segment will draw attention to it?

I see trucks stopped very rarely on the side of the interstate and when they are, usually there aren't any cops nearby giving tickets. I have seen cops on occasion, tbh, but have no idea if they are giving tickets or assisting the driver in some other capacity when they are stopped on the shoulder.

From the looks of it, this is a bigger problem across the pond and it needs solving.

It's easy to get into the habit of comparing when these situations are taped, Des. Show me a video of a similar situation happening in Poland and only then can I comment on what is happening there.

If the driver was on the highway going 95, weaving in and out of traffic, failing to use turn signals and nearly hitting cars as he changed lanes and a cop came along and gave him a huge ticket, I would be the first to shout "Halleluja" and cheer. It wouldn't matter what nationality or race the driver was, either. I would just be glad to see a cop giving a reckless driver a ticket for a change instead of them always getting away with it. The problem is, when the cop shows up in his patrol car, everyone starts driving correctly. The only way they can stop them is in unmarked vehicles and crappy drivers cry "entrapment" so cops cannot use them to pull people over.

I don't think he was being deliberately picked on because of who he is and that's not what bothers me. It's the fact that it's such a minor thing when so many major problems occur daily. Like speeding and people changing lanes incorrectly. My front end fenders almost get hit on the interstate from people changing lanes incorrectly yet no police anywhere in sight. It's like these people do not know the turn signal exists. It would be nice if cops would spend more time patrolling people who are actually moving and handing out tickets to people who are speeding and driving recklessly. No one parked on a shoulder has ever caused me as much grief as people who are driving around me. So, when I see police responding promptly to someone who is simply parked it brings out the frustration at all the others who are not parked and cause far more harms, like roll overs and driving off an overpass. It has happened. None of them caused by someone parked on a shoulder. All caused by inattentive driving, speeding, weaving in and out of traffic.

And, the ones causing the problems are not truck drivers. In fact, they are the best drivers out there. It's the people driving pick up trucks, SUVs and cars thinking they can do whatever they want out there causing a lot of accidents, numerous injuries and some fatalities. These are people who aren't earning a living driving. They also are not receiving their fair share of tickets imho.

And if there are that many people parked on the sides, with all due respect, Vincent, it sounds like there is a need for some kind of rest stop. The service stations are not meeting the needs of these truckers.

He might have calmed down p3undone, when he realized he wouldnt be required to leave his truck for long. Probably worried about losing his job.
