Life / Polish are some of the best educated in the world [35]

I have to agree, many Polish people are highly-educated. The majority of my family members have multiple college degrees, including myself.

I think the OP is trying to make a point about the Polish edu system (which is severly lacking BTW) and you are a result of the US system so its not really saying anything

UK, Ireland / Why Polish people decided to move to the UK, and their experiences. [46]

I'm glad I didn't have any coffee in my hands, southern. It really doesn't go far beyond money.

Really Seanus?? I know ppl who moved to UK 5 yrs ago and now could prob earn just as much money in Pol, if not more, but they said they will never return to Poland. They prefer the British mentality.

Food / Is Polish food still more natural than in the West? [142]

Where Poland is severly lacking are good steaks. When a butcher here receives a nice piece of beef he mauls it until its a shadow of its former self. I shall be going home for a visit soon and first stop steak house.

UK, Ireland / Britain's youngest mum gave birth at 12 [70]

The arguement here is not about ppl genuinely on benefits but those who dont lift a finger to work but can seem to afford to live well. Your brother's case is tragic but how is it they are only living on 50 quid a week. Dole for 2 ppl would amount to 100 and child benefits etc.

There really are jobs out there if ppl are prepared to work below themselves ffor a bit. My brother just walked into a factory job last week packing pot noodles but will do anything not to be on the dole. Im not syaing this is the cas ewith ur bro, but some ppl put one app in, get it declined and claim there are no jobs.

Most people who are on benefits can't even feed their children anymore!

If you have ever been to UK, you will see that this is completely false. Those on benefits in the UK can seem to afford full sky packages, a car and a holiday every year.

How am I suppsed to give you sources? I can tell you my friends name if that helps?

He teaches these people everyday, they dont want to learn, they are just bored old ladies who are pampered by their rich hubbies. I accompanied my friend to the house of one of the male students in the group who is 'umeployed' for a grill. When we arrived we were shocked to see a large hous with over 1000m2 of land and new lexus in the drive.

AJ can't u see this is taking the p***

It's not just UK who has the benefit scroungers. My friend has just started teaching a group of people through the EU EFS project 'Szybki powrot do pracy' and these people are supposed to be unemployed. Most of the class consists of women who have rich husbands and dont need to work so on paper they are unemployed, and the rest of the class are stock market traders who have no job to speak of but still turn up to school in berand new lexus'. As benefits grow better in Poland, we are gonig to see the same thing happening here

Law / Investors/Entrepreneurs.. Steer Clear of Poland. [77]

If they are students, sorry its just merely casual job for them nothing seriouse and it's pretty naive to assume they will work hard for such money

If they knew how much thety would earn before they got the job then they should work hard for they accepted the position. 6ZL an hr or 60, if they are employed to do a job then they should do it.

In my company, I pay my wprkers 10zl an hour and if they are not prepared to wk for that then goodbte, there are plenty of others who will. I have fired countless workers and they know now to take me seriously

UK, Ireland / The slow, whiny death of British Christianity [86]

If Xianity is dying in the UK its because people who dont believe in God, just dont go, unlike in Poland, where people go out of some duty but really have better things to do. Take those out of the church in Poland who really dont want to be there, and you will find very low congregations.

UK, Ireland / Ive been in the UK for 6 days to relocate and im going back to Poland. [281]

Poland is all white, because its poor and not, because of some Polish internal strength

Thank god someone said it finally. If Poland becomes significant in the world there is nothing the government will do to stop the fllods of ppl

Blimpy, you got it so wrong. People in the UK cannot often afford to work for minimum wage as they have council tax, mortgages/rent, shopping bills etc to deal with. Poles and other foriegners on the other hand tend to live in larger groups of people and do not want to settle in the country and therefore can afford to work for minimum wage. A brit on benefits has council tax sorted and rent paid for.

Many aspects of life are stale and stagnant, Am. When I go back, it's the same old spiel. People saying the same things as they were 10-15 years ago, the same tv faces churning out the same formula of rubbish and such similar attitudes.

Tell me how this is different to Poland Seanus. I am fed up of the **** tv here dancing, dancing and more dancing coupled with some lousy soap operas. What everone fails to mention here are the contribitutions that the UK STILL make to the world in terms of music, science etc.

As for the same old speil, I hear the same stuff day in day out here and actually to go home is a refreshing change.

I just dont understand WB's criticism of British roads either. OK some roads have potholes but that gepends where you come from in UK. I assume WB comes from a **** hole as he seems to have old shopping centres and the like. My polish parents in law went to UK for the first time 4 yrs ago to go to my wedding and were amazed by the roads.

UK, Ireland / Ive been in the UK for 6 days to relocate and im going back to Poland. [281]

I dont see anyone bashing the UK in this thread. The OP was just stating his opinion about the land where he came from.

The UK gave me little and to say that I wouldn't be where I am today without it is not true. I worked hard and worked even harder to be where I am.

You are a mental health nurse right? Mental health service in Poland is atrocious. My widfes uncles is Bi-polar and basically the health service wanted to lock hiom away and forget about him so his wife decided to look after him at home. I am assuming your career as a MHN is rather a calling, sth you are passionate about? How could you have ever entered this in Poland?

Also, to all the English teachers, how many Poles do you know that can earn as much as you per hour? when I was teaching, i took home more than most Polish people I know. Why is this? Beacause I was brought up speaking English and I have the UK to thank for this

We can all look around and see what is happening in the UK but for me it is where my best friends are, where my heart is. I miss my friends and family every day and I could live in a war zone as long as I am with them. Those of you who prefer life in Poland are those who probably have nothing in the UK so fair play if you can make a life here but pls less of the UK bashing, it is the Uk which has given you EVERYTHING, most of all the English language without which all of us Brits on here would not be able to make it in Poland.

We can moan and moan but it is up to us to put things right.

I went home 3 weeks ago to find one of my friends had been promoted to the head of RE department at a local secondary school becaus of producing record GCSE results. How did he do this? By speaking the childrens language. He used to be in the UFF and has loads of military tattoos so he was always an icon of respect for them. He also had a knack of putting the cocky lil b******s in their place by scaring the **** out of them. His methods worked.

This is what we need to do. A few more vigilante groups in society would sort things out I think..

Life / Polish blu tak [11]

Its available in most stationary shops and is used quite a bit in language schools. When I first came here I saw it, bought it and took it along to the school i worked for. They thought itwas the best thing since sliced bread and now use it for all the kids wall displays.

News / Poland a top pot producer? Legalization? [30]

There are not serious, they are just patriotic ;) I think u are the only one person who didn't get it

Oh i get it, these guys had a conviction that they were the greatest. I sometimes **** about and say that wales has the greatest rugby team in the world, its just banter cos I know we havent. These guys seriously believe they can beat the americans

News / Poland a top pot producer? Legalization? [30]

So u suggest its false or its not important?

Btw. nice to meet a welshguy on polish forum at last! I was always wondering why there are so many Scots, Irish, English here... but not even a bit of Welsh! Where the all Welsh ppl have been? ;)

I am suggesting that its false of course. Most people in the world understand that the Americans are the greatest basketball players in the world, but htere are some in this country who still insist that sopot prokom can beat any american team.

As for the aquarium thing, on my very first visit to poland everyone was telling me that i just had to see gdynia aquarium as it is one of the best in Europe if not thwe world. Bear in mind that i come form a country of sea life centres etc. So I went and it was one of the worst aquariums ive ever seen

News / Poland a top pot producer? Legalization? [30]

Why is it that any time a superlative appears in relation to Poland it is a cause for celebration? Without regard to what that superlative is actually referring to. Is it really important that poland is the biggest producer of pot? In fact, it tells me sth about the people.

Some of the absurd claims Ive heard since I've been here:
Gdynia has THE BEST aquarium in Europe - Wrong, its crap
Sopopt prokom trefl are THE BEST basketball team in the world - Wrong

And the ones which are true such as the molo in Sopot being THE LONGEST in Europe, are nothing to really brag about.

News / Decoded talks inside Poland's president's plane are released in Internet [337]

TBH, Kaczynski wasnt important enough to world politics to be assasinated so no conspiracy here. Who gives a **** what was said at the end of the transcript, people died on that plane and it is likely to have been caused by the pilots or a pilot/kaczynski combination.

It is a hard pill to swallow, especially because of the fact that kaczynski was buried in wawel and if it is found that he actually caused this then its a big middle finger to all the heroes buried there

9/11 was clearly a conspiracy

News / Decoded talks inside Poland's president's plane are released in Internet [337]

It doesnt matter if this is a factual report or not, the facts can be seen in everyday life in poland. Poles are always late, I service many weddings with my company and they cant turn up on time even for that. Secondly Poles do have the strange notion that they are invincible and nothing can touch them. They also have passing the buck down to a tee. If we consider all this then it is pretty feasible that all these factors combined to put an end to all the lives on board that plane.

Life / English channels on Poland's Cyfra+ [13]

there are a few bbc channels like knowledge and entertainment that I'm pretty sure allow it too.

Sorry, not on Cyfra +. I have cyfra and there are none of the BBC channels except for BBC world which is 24 hr news. The univesal channel, scifi channel, fox life, animal planet, national gfeoagraphic are the channels in which u can turn off that annoying lektor. A very limited selection unfotunately.

News / Polish Policeman shoots down a foreigner in Warsaw [300]

Because the Polish guy wasn't trying to disarm an officer

We dont know any facts and we were also presented conflicting facts with the canadian story, some articals said thr man was agressive and some say he wasnt.

If it was an accident then there should be no repurcussions for the officer but if the officer shot after he retrieved the gun from the assailant then he should be charged as polise are supposed to issue two warning shots before they fire a weapon unless a firearms unit (my wifes bro is a cop).

News / Polish Policeman shoots down a foreigner in Warsaw [300]

So what do you expect the Police to do, but defend themselves. There is far too much aggression towards the Police in Poland. It is about time they started to stamp their authority.

I seem to remember the stink that was created by Poles not so long ago when a Polish guy who was acting agressive in a Canadian airport got tazered by the police. Why were the officers condemned thaen but in this case were perfectly within thier rites? Antoher case of POles finding someone else to blame it seems

Off-Topic / I need Polish nationals. Who wants to be a millionaire? [54]

Hey I would sweep horse **** (and have done so) if it meant I could live a happy life ;)

I would too and have worked many ****** jobs in my life but teaching simply didnt make me happy, neither does it make most of my friends in the industry happy, they do it cos they havent the motivation to get out of the rut.

Language teaching has had its day, I got out in time

WB would never entertain the idea of a pyramid scheme I'm sure. Most of the ppl on this page who criticise him are prob teachers and will remain that all their lives, and resent this fact. When I realised I was in a sinking ship I got out of teaching and opened my own biz.

Pls keep ur opinions to yourselves

Life / Body hair-depilatories - do Polish women and men use them? [43]

All the Polish ladies I've ever seen are partial to a beardless clam. We were in Rowy during the long weekend and even though it was cold there were a lot of naked ppl on the beach - men and women and tbh there werent many hairs to share between them

News / Is it possible that Polish president was assasinated? If so then, by whom? [921]

Fools!! For someone to be assasinated they need to be important
, Ducky was far from it. In fact he was rather considered a joke by most other countries. I am enraged that he os bring buried at Wawel, that should be reserved for peopel who have actually made Poland wht it is today. Why is Obamam coming to the funeral? I suspect he was invited by the Polish government to make ducky look a lil more significant
