Life / Who is poor in Poland? [720]

In PIS times the CIA tortured people here. But that stopped.

Waffle Boy, you wanted to say in SLD times but it came out PiS just out of habit.

Life / Who is poor in Poland? [720]

Tetiana: 1/ But how it can be if the avarage salsry in Poland is 1225 dolars?????

Bullshit statistic for people who know nothing about statistics. What is important is the mean not the average. The latest "average" I've seen is 3,200 PLN. That is gross pay. What you get to take home is 2,000 PLN per month. Now that is about 700 dollars. Levi's jeans cost 100 dollars. A gallon of gas is about 7 dollars. Minimum wage, and that is about every store employee, is 1,300 PLN or 450 dollars. At minimum wage, you can buy yourself a pair of jeans for week's work. Unless you think jeans are a luxury item.

News / "Shale Gas Revolution" will make Poland a Leading Country in Europe! [202]

this will bring Poland into superpower status

You must not be familiar with Poland at all. It can make a few well connected, ex-communist "businessmen" into the oligarch status, but you're right, some poor worker will make a decent wage for a while.

This is a blessing from God I believe.

Unless God loves corruption, theft, and ex-communists and their well placed heirs, this is not a blessing.

A little reading for you:

Life / Which cities in Poland have the most expats, and why? [34]

medical school idiots

Those 'idiots' will become doctors and hopefully will go back to their countries with a pleasant experience of living and studying in Poland. Perhaps some will even stay. They will be able to go back because they will have a useful degree and a useful profession.

No reason for personal attacks.

Travel / The British YOBs are back in Polish towns [68]

That does not answer why the Brits who come are such swines. Is this the post-empire, new face of Britain? Should the British Council get involved?

This is how Krakow allows itself to be promoted, what do you expect

Ok, so I clicked on it. Kind of an idiot check. Guess what? You didn't make it. How does "Kraków" not allow Brits to visit? Should there be Zakaz Angoli signs posted? But the promotion does not come from Krakow but

Q: Who are we?
A: We are Vamos Travel Ltd. ATOL 5927, originally founded by Brett Smith. We are the market leaders for holidays in central & Eastern Europe and Iceland.

This UK travel agency organizes these "lad parties" all over the world. Some of you "businessmen" here should organize parties for the girls too. Krakow might allow to promote that.

What's up with you boys anyway? Did they take away your books and your imagination? Going around the world mooning people is not exactly what I call traveling.

What does your post have to do with this topic? Nothing, as usual. Perhaps a moderator could sweep your ass, and your "interesting post" in the dust bin.

You've been spending too much time with Polonius3. We, Sir, are alive and kicking, if perhaps something of a comparative rarity.

Don't get me wrong. I like British people and I enjoyed my time in the military on a RAF base very much. I just don't remember us being such morons as we seem to get here. The image sticks.

Perhaps it is the same as numerous threads here how we Poles are decimating the British park swan population. Just providing some balance.

As to the fans. A real menace everywhere. They should be controled somewhat but they do have a place in society. If there is an armed conflict, do we really need well behaved accountants?

If its not the Jewish teenagers ******** on the hotel floors during their March of the Living, it is the drunken Brits staggering around Kraków, making a nuisance of themselves. How the image has changed. With the myth of the British gentelman long gone, this is pretty much the new image of a British tourist in Poland:

English in Krakow, Poland

The police promise to pay them a little more attention this year: Any thoughts on this menace? Any solutions?

Work / 3500 Euro Gross in Poland for a family of 2 Adults and a kid, any good? [28]

I'm not in IT but have friends who are in Warsaw. Here is the range I know but other might give you other examples. At Warsaw University - 3000 PLN; writing code for private banks - about what you are offered. I would say the offer is good. A two bedroom flat will range from 2500-4000(garage, security) like Warszawski wrote. Say that you pay 3500 for housing, which is about a third of your net pay, and I would say you will do fine.

A captain in the police - 4500PLN.
An engineer with LOT- 3500 PLN.
A PKO bank manager- 4000 PLN.
Minimum wage- 1300 PLN.

Edit:

Here, I already found you a decent flat near the Wilanow Palace. This will skip the culture shock:

News / "Poland: a country getting to grips with being normal at last" [23]

From the article:

Less than 30 years ago, I stood on what was then called Victory Square (now Pilsudski Square) and watched angry protesters from the Solidarity movement defying the communist riot police. "Why are they chanting 'Gestapo'?" exclaimed an elderly bystander. "It should be 'SS'!"

Just like the communists, the Germans also had dreamed of Victory.

Plac Piłsudskiego (Pilsudski Square) in 1944 shortly before the underground soldiers burned their V:

News / Anti semtism at Polish Congress [57]

I don't support Mr Kwaśniewki or Mr Kaczyński or Mr Komorowski.
I support my country. And I support the President of Poland.

Right. You don't support Bronek "Gaff" Komorowski but you do support the president. I got it.

Discredit Kwasniewski? Only your complete ignorance of our history, and reliance on leftist press sources, can excuse your lack of knowledge obout "Alek." Does the name Ałganow mean anything to you?

According to his file, Aleksander Zdzislaw Kwasniewski, codenamed "Alek," was first registered by the SB on June 23, 1982. This was a preliminary registration under the "secured" (zaba) category. That meant that the target was approached and investigated to determine whether he could be recruited. On June 29, 1983, Kwasniewski's registration was changed to secret collaborator/agent (TW, tajny wspólpracownik). His secret police registration number was 72204. His secret police card catalogue sequential registration number was 4645. Kwasniewski's case officer was Captain Wytrwal. The agent was originally registered by Section XIV (Wydzial XIV) of the II Department (counterintelligence) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MSW) in Warsaw.

News / Anti semtism at Polish Congress [57]

When Mikey gets done with digging up anti-Semite "news" he can start a thread "Jews calling for murder of non-Jews." Let me help him a bit:

Rabbis Shapira and Elitzur determine that children may also be harmed because they are "hindrances." The rabbis write as follows: "Hindrances-babies are found many times in this situation. They block the way to rescue by their presence and do so completely by force. Nevertheless, they may be killed because their presence aids murder. There is justification for killing babies if it is clear that they will grow up to harm us, and in such a situation they may be harmed deliberately, and not only during combat with adults."

The vast majority of Poles are sub-human to you, nicely demonstrated here:

Most of us only come into contact with well educated Poles in good positions in life. We tend not to associate ourselves with "Poland B" type citizens - who can only blame others for their problems. Hence - it's no surprise that we don't hear "WE WANT JUSTICE" screams, because those people are quite frankly beneath us.

Who wants to even talk to a clown like you who considers Poles not in "good positions in life" as ones "beneath you" and not worth listening to. You are a sad case, and I could keep on quoting you:

Yet again - you prove the stereotype to be true - Polacks ARE dumb.

BTW, you have a spelling mistake in the thread title, you "well educated" backpacker.
