Life / Foreigners commenting on Poland - a minefield? [30]

Its totally true, a Pole at work will not do anything unless he is told to, I have emplyed many of them i should know. There is no initiative there. I know supermarket managers who would rather leave shelves empty than fill them cos its not their responsibility. This is where the phrase mucking in can be applied

History / Poland, Lacking External Enemies, Turns on Itself [106]

Yes take with a grain of salt what the Leftist-Jewish New York Times Newspaper says about Poland. It is no friend of Poland and that's putting it mildly. It will take grains of truth and then twist it to make Poland look as bad as possible.

This is a typical response from a Pole, instead of trying to change the situation you argue about who is to blame for calling you names. People in this country need to grow up.

Just looked at ur profile, u are an Amrican who speaks a lil Polish, another plastic pole i guess

Life / How popular is Radio Maryja in Poland? [163]

I have no reason to believe they omit anything.

You must have some VERY good friends who will sit roung with you and interpret radio maryja programmes, I had to learn Polish cos my friends and family were getting pissed off with translating.

Life / How popular is Radio Maryja in Poland? [163]

What I term as nasty is racism, homophobia, anti-Semitism, prejudice, xenophobia, to name a few.

Wait a mo brit in Poland, sth here doesnt add up. Your profile says you dont speak Polish so how in God's name do you understand what the hell radio maryja is talking about??

Love / Polish women world's second most flirtatious [75]

SeanBM

I am on a one man mission to reduce the number of seperlatives used by Polish people, or at least the appropriate use of superlatives anyway.

Love / Polish women world's second most flirtatious [75]

Since when has 'second' been a superlative?

'Second most flitratious' is a superlative, pls consult with any English language teacher (I mean the qualified ones) on this forum.

Cant you see that Poles love to talk in superlatives????

News / Giant Jesus Rising in Świebodzin ( Tallest in world ) [323]
Torq:It is a statue of Jesus Christ. Now, please, tell us all about the countless crimes against humanity that Jesus commited.
The acts were commited in the name of this man so the statue therefore becomes a symbol of the acts.

When a Muslim blows himself and other ppl up in the name of Allah, it is natural to thinlk of this Allah as being a bad man although he did not do anything bad himself.

Im sure u would have a lot to say if a Muslim exploded all over a Polish city centre. You'd be on that bandwagon straight away

But where is the nearest airport to this place? Or the nearest big city???? I imagine as a Brit, I would fly to see this Jesus statue, then wht do I do after? Head to the local sklep spozywczy and get drunk with the local farmers I suppose.

News / Giant Jesus Rising in Świebodzin ( Tallest in world ) [323]

How in the hell is this gonna increase foreign tourism? I am assuming that this statue is gonna be in the middle of nowhere so why would a Brit or an American fly all the way to Poland just to travel for hours in a car from the airport to see this statue and nothing else?

Why oh why did the op have to slip another superlative into the title again? Wasnt the title 'Giant Jesus rising' enough? Typical Polish.

This is alnoist as rediculous as this Radio Maria group who want to oficially make Jesus the King of Poland.

when will this country free itself from the clutches of the RCC?

UK, Ireland / WHAT IS SO SPECIAL LIVING IN U.K [90]

The people are more educated. Food is better. They can speak their own language properly. They dress better. The women are more elegant. Public transport is better.

Do you actually live here? There are endless threads on here about the low standards of the Education sys in Poland and when you can understand Polish then you have a right to say they speak their own language well, cos they really dont, just like every native speaker of every language. Do u speak english perfectly bravo?????

As for public transport, most of the busses cant, or struggle to get up the hills in Gdansk. The trains are old and **** and if you live in sopot, to get from Gdansk transport choices are limited.

So shut up until uve lived it ok????

UK, Ireland / Interest in Polish language grows in Britain [19]

It is true because our grammar systems are completely different. Trying to grasp the fact that there are 3 words for go in Polish can be a nightmare for a Brit since we have only 1. Also the lack of gender in English poses a problem when learning other foreign languages.

A pole can learn eg. spanish or French more easily beacuse although not the same, the grammar is similar.
