Where did the books of British Council go to

Here in Warsaw in the past the British Council used to have a decent lending library with books and DVD's. That does not exists anymore now. Are there public libraries in Warsaw taking over that function?

It seems all "everyday" questions go without a response here.

Why don't you call BC and ask them? I would conclude that PF members have no such knowledge that you require of them. I do not.

Well PF.com is more of an online british expat club than a Polish forum. There are better places to ask that question, but this site isn't a terrible start.

Of course. A real Polish forum would be full of arguments, aggression and not be of much use whatsoever.

I suspect they distributed books to their favourite schools, or just moved them elsewhere.

Funny, a friend of mine works in BC in London. Recently a friend of mine here in Poland wanted to know about teacher swaps with UK. I emailed my mate in London and he suggested she contact education section in Warsaw... turned out it closed about 2 years previously...

Story of the British Council, and of British institutions in general - closing doors to the public and generally existing as a "jobs for the boys" club rather than anything of actual use or merit.

Compare this to other organisations, such as Alliance française - and it's utterly shameful.

Yep. Typical British mentality in such institutions: do bugger all, let the 'opposition' gain ground and then lament about it and wail that everyone should want it 'because it's British'!

I went there today first time, and I was very impressed. The only thing I missed are books in Dutch :)
