Polish has even more borrowings from German cause it's our neighbouring language for centuries.
German on the other hand borrowed much less words from Polish, most common one is grenze - granica - boarder.
.It is clamed to be 10% similar to German due to borrowings.

Ukrainian is far more understandable and nicer, also because it contains little or none of that tartar/mongol vocabulary that russian language possesses. However, russian language is also okay, but more distant than ukrainian.

I've never seen a turist from Kaliningrad in Gdansk but I've seen plenty from Sweden, so maybe it would be better to try Swedish?
And another good question is that why didn't you go to Russia instead of Poland if you took an effort to learn Russian?
Since Gdansk is up here next to Kaliningrad would that make any difference?

it's amusing what you say little boy, I live in Birmingham and used to travel by double deckers a lot and on the top floor there were always black school kids smoking cannabis and guess what, only me and other Poles were telling them off to stop doing it on many occasions while the English sat there pretending they don't see what's happening.
conclusion: I could call large percentage of the English out as a cowards however I'm not as ignorant as you are and I'm not going to do so, Is that clear enough for you?
