Love / ARE POLISH GIRLS GOLD-DIGGERS? [359]

Are Polish women the biggest moneygrabbers in Europe?

you need to date women from all the countries in Europe, then you need to compare their behaviour re money grubbing, then you need to report back to us;).

I would like to know too:D. Looking forward to reading your report.

USA, Canada / Moved back from Canada to Poland:). Here are the reasons why. [868]

new one from Malenczuk

ooo. long time no see. I have a report from my vacation. Just need to polish it, yes, that's right:). Will post it next week.

It is soon going to be almost 2 years since I arrived

shopping in Poland

You can either shop in the supermarket or go to a veggie stall right around the corner from my place. I usually choose the latter, because, first of all I like small shops and being recognized by the clerk, secondly, the shopping has a personal touch and it is fun.

I get my buns from the bakery around the corner, I get my shoes fixed at the shoe cobbler, I get my meet at the butchers 5 minutes away from my place and the fresh flowers from older retired ladies, who are making some extra cash selling flowers and veggies in front of the grocery store. I used to get my honey supply from a guy who usually sells his stuff there too, but I have not seen hi this year. Everything within 5 minute walk. I love it.

In my father's town I get main supply from the small supermarket, veggies from the local town market, baked goods from the bakery, potatoes from my father's neighbour, onions, tomatoes, garlic, cucumbers and lately rassberries from my father's garden. Mushrooms from the forest and so on. So, as you can see, shopping is a serious business in Poland and one often is criticized when the lady next door finds out that I've served my father ready made pierogies from the supermarket:).

Why waste time brewing when you can be supping the ale?

good point, I was just trying to provoke an answer from you and it worked;D

The Ruler?

overcompensating a bit on his part.

More importantly, it's only two years to the World Cup in Brazil. Where better place to watch the footie.

But... i have sold my farm , my documents have been approved by the Russian migration office , and i am still in Love with the Moscow lady...

excellent. All the best and keep us posted:D

Life / Let`s compare prices of services and products in Poland [359]

happens on regular basis. There are many old people who don't have a proper care when they are old and this is their way to deal with it. I personally know 2 people who gave the apartments/house to somebody who was looking after them when they were old.

Off-Topic / PF - The Omnibus Edition [1502]

no men's land.

This is what Omnibus has been for some time since Sharly decided to open up another brewery, so he can sample the beer for free. The economic hardship has reached the UK too, or maybe he just cannot be bothered to go to the pub, since nobody can win the game of darts with him anymore - what is the fun in this anyways. The must be a British thing, because I watched the Tudors last night and Henry always liked to win in card games - at least that is what his new wife heard about him, according the the scrip. I personally watch the Tudors, because I like the costumes. I am sure that the costume designer has Polish roots since there is no one better among other nations to create such a beauty as Polish set and costume designers. You can see it for yourself when you happen to get those free tickets for Euro 2012 at your work place, since all the other workers have already planned their vacation in other less attractive parts of the world, and you can only wonder why they don't know what is best for them.

Not to mention the Polish Euro songs. You cannot wait to see and hear this one:

Polish creativity has no bounds:

What is new on PF?

I have no idea, since I don't come here very often. The balcony needs tending, the growing grass needs to be watched and I am very busy and important, especially when I go clothes shopping. I am in Poland after all and I have finally adjusted.

The usual offenders are still suspended and there is a need for another moderator on PF. Is it because with all the suspensions, also the mods got a red card and are not coming to play anymore. I really don't know.

It is possible that Wildrover is in Russia and he is shaking hands with Putin as we speak.

It is possible that Harry has opened a good steak restaurant in Warsaw and it too busy waiting tables, or too busy preparing for the foreign Euro crow.

Sharly wants to have 50 pages on this thread and I am just helping him to get there as soon as possible and I have to fill it in with something.

Later.........

USA, Canada / Living in Poland - prospects for Alabama guy ... need some advice! [146]

Jasonczyk, it has to be said that the dynamic will change beyond all recognition, probably, when you live in PL.

the dynamic will change for sure, but calling Jason a loser because he doesn't want to teach English is a bit too far in my opinion. He seems to have a source of income, so he doesn't really have to work - how does that make him a loser?

Jason, the only problem with your wife seems to be the fact that she is homesick and she doesn't get along with your mother. Is there anyways that their relationship can be improve? She is in Poland now, then she is coming back. I am sure she wants to be in Poland because she is homesick, but she is also your wife and she knew that she would be leaving Poland behind.

I think you should both work on your partnership and it is an ongoing process. I hope your wife is not some kind of Polish spoiled princes, but a responsible woman. Maybe you both some growing up to do in a sense of thinking of what you both want vs what you can have. There is also a child. Is there a chance that she is having a postpartum depression?

Off-Topic / I am Polish and I am offended. [52]

I usually initiate some sort of causal analysis, to give myself an answer why is person X thinking, feeling, behaving like that.

isn't it easier just to ask? I didn't ask to be analyzed.

I don't understand why some people who are not even connected to Poland get so easily offended at any mention of Poland, which is not congruent with the way the see Poland, which is often unrealistic to say the least. Can you answer this question Natasa? I cannot answer it, therefore the thread.

you are also probably holding more or less coherent views on different subjects, including political.

lately my cognitions deviates towards chasing the pigeons off my balcony since I am getting ready for the season:)

I don't really want to hold your attention any longer on my person, since this was not my intention when I was creating the topic. Thanks for your interest in my personal characteristics.

but then still your values don't have to be those of people you don't know, who didnt live abroad....

that is irrelevant, my living abroad has nothing to do with my post. There are enough Polish people who think the same, it is not about finding a circle, I just made an observation for christ sake and you are making some outrages assumptions about me. I don't make assumptions about you because you live in Germany - get a grip Sasha.

I want to discuss the topic, if I wanted to discuss my life, I would word it differently;)

political attitudes.

and political attitude do I have according to you. Please spell it out. Just wondering why you assume that you know me so well. Please carry on. I see that you didn't understand the premise of my post.

any problem with that?

I do. The number of offended people in Poland is large enough to be a problem, so I don't see a reason why it should be in OFF topic.

those on the open market probably...

any place is good, but I have enough friends who think the same as me, I am sure they shop at markets but that is not the issue at hand here.

Looks like you're in a minority,

no, they people I am talking about are in minority in Poland and on PF, but you would not know since you live abroad.

This will probably end up in the off-topic as it's not about Poland, just PF members

fine with me, that is not the main issue where it will end up:), however that stance is also present in Poland therefore I put it in the .....oh, it is in OFF topic already, although I disagree that it should be here. This stance is common enough in Poland based on my observation.

Im offended by your obviously rabid anti Polish stance, call yourself Polish?

well, I was not speaking about myself being offended, but putting words in the mouth of the usual "offenders":).

The problem with your big discovery is that non of them lives in Poland.

I would not use such words, it is not a big discovery, but an observation.

Because of that, what you wrote here is simply not true:

sorry, but there are many people in Poland who have similar views. Unless I don't live in Poland.

You were subject of different socialization (or aculturalization)in Canada compared to typical Pole, being an immigrant in your heimat again.

er, not the case. The majority of Poles who never left Poland feel the same - I live here and I talk to people.

Plus you are germanophile and Polish.

wrong again Natasa.

That preference usually blurs or distorts one's perception. And it is kind of contradictio in adjecto when person is a Pole.

the rest of the post I don't understand. I can see that you are trying to look for reason for my posting, but perhaps you have something to add besides the personal remarks Natasa. Not cool.

I am fairly new to this forum but I do not see what is wrong with defending Poland's reputation against those who wish to denegrate it.

yes, it seems to me that you are fairly new and you are not really aware of the type of people I am talking about.

A certain type of people only want to see, hear and say the very best, the reprezentacjny, rather than reality

exactly my point Jonni.

Off-Topic / I am Polish and I am offended. [52]

on PF, as well as in Poland there is a small, but fairly laud group of people who get offended at any mention of Poland, which is not congruent with the way they see Poland. Oftentimes their views are fairly limited. One of the representative voices on PF of that particular group is: Monia, Media Watch (although mild), the ever famous Puzzler who sniffed Polonophobia at every corner, lately Des (the rest of his not so Polish nick I am not able to spell), Polonius3 and some other characters, whose posts are often very predicable, therefore I usually put them on ignore, because I know what they going to say.

Oh, I forgot Irons, who is a a rabid, right wing, verbally abusive and short tempered fellow.

Anybody else?

This will probably end up in the off-topic as it's not about Poland, just PF members

News / Presidential elections and debates 2015 Poland [472]

there is nothing more to investigate. That particular landing, on that particular airport should have never happened and most people know that. Most likely both of Kaczynskis are responsible for the crush and Jaroslaw is trying to look for somebody else to blame - the Tusk government comes in handy. JK is an immature bully, who is trying to cash in on his brother's death. Shameful really.

it is not too big and not too small, but it is on the smallish side. As far as I know not much is going on there, but it is close enough to Poznan and Berlin.

Food / Could you recommend me a fresh Polish juice from fruit? [18]

I buy freshly squeezed juice from the veggie stand and it is good for 24 hours only, half a litre costs about 3 pln and it is goood. It comes in carrot, apple carrot and apple and red beets. I don't know if you have that in your area, but this is the only one I would recommend to be honest. Any other juices are not fresh.

News / FEMI-FASCISTS MARCH AGAIN IN POLAND [126]

Since when democracy and freedom of expression turned into a display of different stages of madness and degradation?

have you ever been in a bar? You should get out more.

In Warsaw they took advantage of a little boy and girl to symbolically cut the 'umbilligcal cord' allegedly linking the Sejm and Church.

you sound hysterical. As always:). I am not going to explain to you anything, because you wouldn't understand.

Chicks have -and continue to be- stepped on, for millennia. If all some do is shout about it, we men should count ourselves lucky.

voice of a reason.

Fanatical feminists took to the streets of Warsaw and other cities, shouting their typical anti-male and libertine, pro-abortion, anti-religious and pro-homosexual slogans.

USA, Canada / Would like to move back to Poland from New York after living in USA for 20 years. [155]

you make typical Polish mistakes still and if you in fact did go to a major city, with no ESL experience to boot, you may struggle to find a job because there are Poles out there with absolutely stellar English skills that won't make the mistakes I'm seeing in your writing.

yep, the best advice so far. Why not move to another country in Europe - it will be easier for you to travel around within the EU and land a better paying job, so you can visit Poland while living there. I would suggest Germany, Berlin in particular since its a fairly multicultural city. Sounds like you need a change of scene, but you need to have a plan A, B and C. I have moved across the pond and it is not an easy as it may seem. Give up the idea that Poland is a romantic place where people have a relaxed life style- that is not the case anymore, not that it has ever been.

Good luck and make sure that you land a job before departing. That always helps. Living in a new country takes some adjusting and adjusting to a Western European country will be way easier for you then adjusting to a Polish reality.
