That sentence sounds ok in colloquial language but is grammatically uncorrect. You will see many mistakes made by Poles which are a result of wide spread for years errors which found their place in colloquial language and are well rooted there.

But it's still weird that she told you that "napiję się kieliszek" is correct - it really jars on the ears...

I've just lost all respect for you! IT'S OBVIOUS FROM MY POST THAT I HAVEN'T READ THE REST OF IT. I was on previous page and posted the post. I'm sure that everyone sees it.

Harry I thought that you might be really intelligent guy (everyone tells me that). You made shut up all those antisemitic maniacs (whish I really appreciate) but I see that those maniacs are sometimes right when calling you a manipulative guy. And you've just prove it. A real drama queen!

Now show other people that at heart you like Poles (that's why you're here) by saying 10 good things about Poles. If not be so brave and tell us what Poles have done to you that you hate them so much! Ignoring it would mean I had right about everything I was supposing.

As it goes for the offtopic in Poland we don't understand nationality in category of citizenship. It's not Australia. You don't become a Pole because you accquired a Polish citizenship. Poland was a country for years under partitions. According to your way of thinking our great granparents should think of themselves as: German, Russian or Austrohungarian(???)... no Poles here! Also the multuculturalism of pre-war Poland led to this kind of perceiving of nation. We had many nations within borders of Poland, which hate each other. Could you even though of some Ukrainian born in Volynia in 1930s to call himself Polish?! That's why I consider your way of thinking as truly stupid. Sorry. Citizenship doesn't count.

Really? Got any proof of any of that? Judging from the coat of arms which her family used, they were originally from Silesia. And if she was so Polish, why did she take a foreign husband? No true Pole would voluntarily become a member of another nation!

It's not funny but pathetic. I see we have a war for the art of a war here. Harry doesn't like Torq and Sokrates (actually no one like Sokrates) and that's why he keep on with this pointless discussion. What does he want to prove? That Poles are talentless, stupid nation who did never contributed anything to world's science and culture? In Poland we spell Sheakespear as Szekspir. So what? Is that bother you? Look that the Rok Chopinowski" has French spelling.

His father even though he was a Frenchman, was very attached to Polish society during the times of partition:

Today in radio audition I heard an interview with a (neuro?) psychologist who stated that researches say that the most effective way of learning of foreign language is when we have an opportunity to look on someone's face from a distance of 1 meter. Then we can read from lip movements. Allegedly that's the reason why people learn faster when they are abroad and have a contact with native speakers than when they study from books/casettes.

I am trying to find a similar in meaning word from Russian. I guess there's "rygat'/otrygivat'", which means "to barf".

rzygać in Polish means to puke
rzygi in Polish mean the things you had puked
obrzygany in Polish means that someone puked on you so you are obrzygany
zarzygany means that you puked on yourself or someone puked on you

I don't feel any symphaty to most teachers as most teachers I met in my life were completely burn out and did not give a damn about anything (especially students). Give them more money but in the same time hire better teachers.

But isn't it a world-wide problem? I heard about American teachers who complain about their salaries either.

keep them encourage to gain knowledge on their own. Tell them that the thigs they learn at school are just a little % they should know. When I was in gimnazjum I thought that if I learn before klasówka and gain a good mark I've done a good work and that's all I should do. I forgot the simple fact that people should learn for their own inner developement and marks are not important in fact. If I were in gimnazjum again I would learn more (and for myself) to have better start in high school.

Autor: Tony Johansen if we consider painting. Wykonawca means performer or manufacturer while we should say author if we are talking about art or literature.

miłować. And yes it's a biblical expression not to find in any modern situations.

Jezus nakazał miłować bliźnich jak siebie samego.

but verb umilić/umilać (to make something nicer) is used in modern expression: Muzyka umilała mi czas.

miłość (noun) = love
umiłowany (adj) = beloved (biblical exp.)
miłować (verb) = to love, to cherish (biblical exp.)
miły (adj) = nice
umilać (verb) = to make nicer

I see in Polish, this is scarcely the case, even in slang.

Maybe I put it in other way. It's always safer to say uwielbiam jeść czekoladę and it's more common but kochać coś is also in use and it express a greater emotions than uwielbiam (it suggest an emotional link to something, a really great passion!)

kocham malarstwo Hoppera
etc.
