UK, Ireland / We live in the UK; my husband is not legal in England [47]

I live in uk,i have husband, who is not ligal in england. We get marry on monday(5th september 2011) he dont have work permision, nothing,we was waiting for decision about his legacy case.He was going every friday to police station,to singh, this friday homme office catch him, they arrest him,now they move him to some place,I dont know what i can do,im afraid that they can move him back to his country.please can someone help me?

He will be able to apply EU family permit when he gets back to his home country (him being an illegal here and being deported will not affect this), you should have done this in the first place - marrying an illegal immigrant does not make them legal, Im sure the same applies in your home country, so I dont know why you thought it would be different here?

My advice would be for you to go back to Poland and apply for it there, exercise your treat rights in your home country for 6 months with him as your spouse and then if you still want to come back to the UK then do so, but legal this time.

CAB office do not have legally trained staff - they wont really be able to help.

An immigration solicitor will take £1,000s off you and will only advise you to go down the same route I have.

It will be a long process (could take months) but if you are a genuine couple then you will see it as being worth the trouble.

USA, Canada / Moving from United Kingdom to USA. Is it worth it? [136]

Pete, my friend had a 4 bed detached house in the UK with a large garden, she has a house twice the size in Canada for the same money :D She also said Canada is cheaper than the UK...so the US must be cheap if you think Canada is expensive.

Oh we can get a large pizza in the UK with the works for about what you paid, but thats because there's a junk food place on every corner now with 2 4 1 offers..

Pete London is just another capital city, expensive, crime ridden, but great night life and loads to do...unless you are uber rich forget it, a friend of mine is paying £2,000 per month on a 2 bed apartment, thats circa. $3,500, that doesnt include council tax or utility bills, just rent...

Oh about the health cover, one never knows whats round the corner, if I ended up like one of our board members did, I'd be fully taken care of for how ever long it took, the rest of my life if that was the case, not for as long as my insurance covered it.

UK, Ireland / Poles in the UK not a problem as far as i can tell [79]

Very, they see no problem in becoming immigrants themselves but they have an issue with immigrants - pretty amazing!:D

Brits have to score points to gain entry to Aus - they cant just go and get a job, there is strict criteria, therefore those that go are highly skilled or have a large amount of cash in order to set up a business - so its not that amazing really, also its an ex colonly which we built :)

Face the truth, most voters cannot find the way to their own ass without a guide, do you believe they would vote differently eh?
They would be bought in by a propaganda and politicians, some warning voices on the fringes of public life would be laughed at and forgotten.

I believe that the open door policy would not have come about had we been given a vote, that I can say for sure.

Did you enjoy an economical boom and so called growth since 1989? Eh?

I havent enjoyed the way wages have been driven down and public services have become burdened - I personally havent gained, but Im sure a lot of business have due to cheap labour.

It was partly on Poland's expense as well - now let that sink in Missy!

Have a LOT of Poles enjoyed purchasing properties back home with the ££'s they earned?

Oh, my God. How such an intelligent guy can say such unintelligent things, I wonder?

Best not too.

UK, Ireland / Poles in the UK not a problem as far as i can tell [79]

5.5 million British citizens living as expats around the world today, and a large number of them do so in order to avoid having to encounter the kind of uneducated drivel that you are spouting, the same uneducated drivel that got close to a hundred young people murdered in Norway.
(Those 5.5 million Brits live happily abroad in civilised nations that don't blame them for wanting to be there, too)

Actually people leave for all different reasons, main reason being problems with immigration - ironic isnt it :) Also most if not all Brits that emmigrate do so with a large wedge in their pocket to purchase property and take their skills with them...How many cleaners and bar maids emmigrated to Aus last year and sent for their sick elderly relatives whilst sending home half their money?

By the way define "Brit" there are plenty who have "acquired" passports who have only had to spend 6 years in on this Island!

Actually yes, we did. There was a vote to join the common market, and as it progressed to being the EU, every political party made their opinions clear in their election manifesto.

When was that Jonny? Did we get a vote on the enlargement? Did we really have any kind of a choice? The EU was a very different matter when we joined, it was about trade not mass immigration.

Love / Polish women USED TO BE much more attractive: [162]

Perhaps all those children all looked "healthy" to you because you compared them to yourself.

Do a zumba class, a circuit training class and go running a couple of times a week...also have a balanced diet...nowt wrong me matie, Ive also never had to move across the globe so I can pull a "normal" sized attractive bloke! No offence take by your comment, it would seem you dont have a clue about me :) There's also a picture of my body post in the show you face thread..Im toned and holding my own!

I still think you are exaggerating about the size of Polish women - whilst their may be a rise in numbers of fatties, doesnt mean Poland is going to turn into some fat nation..

Love / Polish women USED TO BE much more attractive: [162]

Isnt all this a slight exaggeration - its been a while since I was in Poland (5 years) but saw no evidence of an abudance of fat kids or even chubby, they all looked healthy and normal.

I had to leave my homeland because of too many fat broads.

Im sure there were plenty of slim ones too, maybe you just dont reach the mark to get a nice girl in your homeland though, not trying to be nasty here, just surmising (bit like fat bald middle aged Brits who go to Thailand for a bride :) )

USA, Canada / Moving from United Kingdom to USA. Is it worth it? [136]

London is a nice place for a hard working horse but it's not the best place under the sun to grow up (I mean my children...).

London is not the only place in the UK to live, plenty of nice villages to raise children that are accessible to cities, again not just London...

Have a look at the points calculator for Aus and see if you qualify, but please be aware major cities in Aus house prices are expensive and cost of living is not cheap either...

How about Canada instead of the US? A friend of mine emigrated there (she already had citizenship having lived there most of her childhood) with her family (she has two little boys) and she loves it and will never come back to the UK.

USA, Canada / Why are Polish restaurants not successful in the USA? [698]

The first time I went to a Chinese "All you can eat" place I thought it's the sickest place on earth. It's like a hang out club for the obese folks.

I never get those places - one can only eat so much!

France's obesity crisis: All those croissants really do add up, after all well that's the pasteries, sweets. But dinner wise the roasted or cooked meats with rice and veggies topped with a glass of wine is healthy.
The French secret of fat

They're still a million miles away from the US and the UK though...But they do have a McD's on every corner now (that's what I noticed in Nice a few years ago I imagine Paris is even worse).

I'm not fat Guesswho u saw my pics lol. I'm 230 lbs. at 6'6 the BMI says i should be 220 but at my height it's hardly noticeable, plus i exercise.

Its about balancing what goes in and how much you exercise take...something most lazy people dont get...

USA, Canada / Why are Polish restaurants not successful in the USA? [698]

That's a bad example. Sushi is glorious. Sure, there are types of sushi that are gross but in general everyone loves sushi if they give it a chance.

Yo Sushi is my fav eatery :)

Besides the English breakfast and fish and chips?

Neither of the above are that great compared to other English dishes (you forgot the Great British Sunday roast or steake & ale suet pudding). English food is homely and therefore probably not something people will go out and purchase, rather they cook it at home, I imagine its the same for Polish food - simple Mediterranean food is another matter, its tasty and therefore a popular choice.

Even with all the Poles in the UK there arent that many Polish restaurants, there is a tiny one a few miles from me but Ive never seen anyone in there when Ive gone past.

Life / What on earth is the fascination of Indians, Pakistanis and Nepalese with Poland? [112]

Very few brits want to study medicine and engineering

Okay, I've worked on and off in Engineering for 11 years - I can tell you that EXCELLENT young British grads are coming through every year - I really have no idea where you get your ideas from, you really really are talking complete sh*te!!!!

Brits are very good management chaps like Americans.

We are also excellent in other fields.

areas like investment banking.

Plenty of Germans working in the City of London so it would appear you lot like these positions too.

Well it may be in your family but dont generalise it.

All their friends are from the same profession - they're all British, so Im hardly generalising!

After that they fought with Germans till the end.

I as I always say, Indians are not to be trusted!

indian population is aryan , our lost brothers. They fought with us in WW2. They stood with us in our difficult times.

Are you telling me that Indians stood with Germans in WWII? As far as I was aware India was still a British colony and they were on our side...

Thanks for the sympathy, but we're not ready to throw in the towel just yet :) We've come through much worse, we just need to get back to basics as and Island we have gone through many transitions over the decades, things are changing here some for the better.

They find it hard to digest the fact that some indians are richer than her majesty, the people they ruled for 200 years

I have no issue with this, my issue is that we still give foreign aid to this country which effectively comes out of my pocket, let them look after their own and we in turn will do the same for our own.

Yet you still have laws that Hitler introduced...

Love / How to survive a relationship in Poland? [42]

hmmm, how should I break it down for you... would you even let me?

Even in the most compromising positions Ive never had someones bollox on my abs whilst having sex - is is possible? Not unless you've been with some strange dude with rather long balls that flop round..

OR TAKE IT LIKE A MAN!

Abuse and being treated like a doormat? Yeah..right!

Love / How to survive a relationship in Poland? [42]

1.) mother-in-law---daughter/son-in-law conflicts - why is there a female bias?

Women confind more in their mothers - therefore mother gets more info, sons keep their mouths shut and get on with it, mother non the wiser :)

2.) why female's family is always better (IQly, spiritually, whateverly)?

Not sure about that - every family is different.

3.) why preservation of marriages often turn out to be a fight between being oneself and doormat, not a dialogue of 2 people, achieving a compromise?

Because some women are unable to sort out private matters without involving mummy dearest..A big mistake IMO - whilst my mum will "offer" advice, she would never "tell" me what I should do - this is in general, where matters of the heart are concerned - she wouldnt get involved - example - was with someone for 6 years, she only told me after I dumped him that she never liked him :D

That's so rare and precious. My respect and best wishes :)

Hmmm.not sure its its so rare, but yes it precious and thank you x

Kids used to fall out like apples in the Middle Ages, now we need 6 people to pull out a single treasure.

And ploughing fields was so easy back then too and now we use all of this machinery, where's the fun in that? :) I know where you are coming from, but its call progress and just same as anathetic is used these days when taking out teeth or cutting of limbs :) Also you may like to look at the mortality rates back then when these little treasures came along.

, I would like to ask you, ladies: is it predominantly hormonal, psychological, environmental?

Im chilled as hell and happy as larry with my fella - no demands no stress nice equal partnership - the same with my other friends in their relationships :) (we're all English though so it may be different) I also wasnt aware that child-bearing was a blackmail issue to be honest.

Thank you for inventing the epidural :)

News / Famous Pickup Artist in Poland now [75]

Send some English women over there to teach their high art of put-downs to Polish women, might help achieve a balance.

People like him are just ignored like a bad smell and not worth wasting breath on. As stated he sounds like a complete tit and totally cringeworthy...

Either that or women enjoy sex too.

No denying that. but its a matter of taste really.

Go on then, that could be good. Do you inflate them before or after you pick them up from the store?

One prick and they disapear... :)

If men could have babies, there would be zero percent population growth. Just ask Zimmy...

Men like shag*in* too much for there to be zero, the population would be much higher, but they'd find stronger drugs to kill the pain of child birth :)

Nathan, you mention "doormat" far too much sweetie, try and be more assertive and avoid women who are over-controlling - find a nice chilled out lady who has a similar outlook who has a mind of her own and doesnt look to her family for advice for everything she does....

Food / Pancakes with cottage cheese? [40]

You are not Polish , so you don`t know what the difference is .If you think that in Poland, we eat what this troll says, you're wrong.

Oh right...So Pancakes are a Polish thing that no other nationality understands then...doh!

he French make their own kind , the British

Make them the same - but we call ours pancakes they call theirs crepes.

The same batter without sugar makes very passable Yorkshire puddings.

which is also lovely with honey and cream - try it..its sex on a plate!

I dont put sugar in my pancakes either.

Life / Will Polish people be accepting that im only half polish? [63]

In all seriousness, how is someone going to know if you're "half Polish" or "full Polish"?

He could get a t-shirt printed with "Hey Im Half Polish" emblazoned across the front, there would be no doubt left in peoples mind as he walks by as to what at least one half is, he could then have "Hey Im Half Canadian" emblazoned on the back just so they know what the other half is :) Just an idea...

Not true. I worked in that field. 3rd world doctors are not over-represented in GMC complaints.

Really? I'll have to tell my friend she is a liar then as stated, she actually works for the GMC.

Not true. I worked in that field. 3rd world doctors are not over-represented in GMC complaints. The work permit is more regarding nursing

So are you telling me Indan doctors do not need a visa for post grad positions?

A work permit only needs a Medical Director to rubber stamp a letter. The real issue is on linguistic ability.

Tell that to the 1,000s of doctors that studied in the UK...who had to go home :D

Polish doctors move to countries where pay is much higher than the UK where Consultant level medicine may get you £80k for a three day week, a pittance compared to the US. Poland's education for medicine is well reputed as are Jag Uni graduates.

Sounds like English doctors!

UK, you have 31,000 indian doctors in NHS and not even 500 polaks ,why? 6000doctors in UK are German, do you know that?

Indian doctors are not that brilliant and you may want to do a bit of research - we have been trying to stem the employment of them - they now need work permits :)

I personally have known 1 Polish GP - never come across a German.

I also have a friend who works for the GMC (General Medical Council) and most of the complaints are about asian doctors - not Poles!

You guys have problems with Chinese, Japs , Koreans too.
Better late than never. Otherwise you be poor and beg from us.

Ive told you several times...Im English, not Polish - we have a problem with pakis and africans and the rest of the tash from 3rd world countries and we're certainly not poor, the EU tries to screw us at every turn for more and more!
