Anna, the best place for you in the UK is citizensadvice.org.uk in your local area. If your marriage is real they will help you, if its a sham you are both in a lot of trouble.

you do not even know the guy.....or anything about him

We know that he is here illegally and has no right to stay.

If the marriage is strong why doesn't the girl go with him to his own country. That is the obvious answer.

How does someone who is not legal in this country manage to get married in this country? Crazy stuff...........call me old fashioned, but,if I didnt have a pot to p!ss in or even the means or legal right to buy a pot I think the last thing on my mind would be getting married...must have been a kicking reception party...........brutal truth, you are well shot of him love.

Dont get me wrong, on a human level I feel sorry for this lad. Ive stood on a hill in bedfodshire and looked down on YarlsWood ,well, lets face it,concentration camp.

The Border agency bastards slung a 15 year old Kurdish lass in there on her own a couple of years back, she'd lived here for over 10 years, did really well in high school....nah, fek her they thought, easy target, make up the numbers, heartless cnuts, them and bailifs, proof of the banality of evil.

Andzia, sorry to hear about the detention of your husband. First things first, get yourself an Immigration lawyer and as Warszawski noted, CAB is the best place to get advice on which legal help is available to you.

As far as i know, failed asylum seekers not in detention are required to sign on, if this is the case with your husband, then UKBA have probably decided to have him deported and if you haven't heard from him by now, then there's a chance that he's already back in his home country as we speak.

Knowing UK immigration law, you and your husband couldn't have married legally because of his immigration status. That probably prompted UKBA to have your husband detained cos it's now a criminal offence to get married without a legal immigration status. If it's a marriage that involved paying money of any sort to any authorities i.e priests or local marriage office then i would be very worried cos you could end up in Prison - hopefully this is not the case.

What i can say is, if your husband has broken immigration law i.e 'Sham Marriage', then there's no chance that he'll stay in the UK. However, i also know that European family law has jurisdication in such cases, it all depends on how good your lawyer is and unforfunately that means money, loads of money! I genuinely hope this works out for you.

I do feel sorry for the chap and the poster. However, you seemed to know that he was illegal before marriage. Was it not a bit irresponsible to come to the UK where, at the moment, we are cracking down on illegal immigrants. The fact is that what he has done was illegal and, well, there's little that can be done. As was mentioned before, talk to citizen's advice and see if they can get you a decent immigration lawyer. That is if he didn't realise what he was doing was illegal (going on a long shot). If a lawyer can prove he knew what he was doing then there is no option but deportation.
