News / Poland Needs to Spend 30% of Total Budget on IMF Bailouts to EU as Result of Summit [9]

I haven't seen it to be confirmed anyway... 100 billion seems to be unrealistically huge amount... any money would be controversial, however few billion in a form of loans could be acceptable... If that's true either current leadrship is really made of traitors or we don't know many things and it's far worse than is officially admitted but then we should rather spend all that money on weapons...

News / Y Shaped high speed rail line Poland [78]

People fly to Gdańsk, Szczeciń, Wrocław from Warsaw or get stuck in traffic jams precisely because the rail link is such a mess.

Except Wrocław the Y line wouldn't really improve anything here.

He probably doe know better

Fascinating. Please prove it.

And? It's exactly this communist mentality that holds Poland back.

And spending tens of billions on a project 15% of population would have access to and 0.15% would use frequently is nonsense no matter how you slice it, the same old garbage about "communist mentality", Poland B etc. will not impress anyone here. Even Tri-city, Kraków and Silesian aglomeration (the largest one in Poland) wouldn't have access to it, so much for "Poland B". Taxpayers funding extremly expensive project they won't use is communist mentality, that's the "logic" of a famous expat :))

Nice way to avoid the point.

Which point, some slur about PGRs ?

Still, the fact remains that your opposition is based on the fact that you don't want people to travel. Easier to control them that way, isn't it?

:)) No words...

The "experts" will say whatever their political masters tell them to say.

Therefore an "expat" teacher knows better :))

It doesn't make sense because Poland hasn't got the money to pay for it. It's that simple - nothing to do with "sense" or "nonsense"

LOL ! Everything to do with sense or nonsense, the whole idea of alternative cost or cost-effectiveness analysis in a decision making process is clearly a foreign concept to you, not surprising really :))

The existing network needs the money - and you can't build a high speed line if your "lignes classiques" are in a hell of a mess.

Yes, that's what I've been talking about all the time.

Thankfully, this new minister seems to be far more capable than the last one

This new minister is saying what I've been saying since the whole Y nonsense idea emerged, he's saying your opinion on these matters is nonsense :))

I think you should start by looking at what the project would offer Poland.

Not much really, for a start vast majority of population wouldn't even have access to it.

But then again, your type doesn't want "high speed"

LOL ! The same old bullshits, you only forgot to say that I've been dreaming to become an English teacher all my life, to get those excellent money and status English teachers enjoy :)))

Poland is somewhat perfect for such high speed lines

You base that on what ? Opinions of two other English teachers ? Harry the expat ? The government (you had supported so much till recently) have been watching It closely and decided It doesn't make sense in Poland before 2030. Vast majority of experts do agree with that... so excuse me but where your "expertises" do come from ? Own research of an English teacher :))) ?

Nonsense? I suggest you start by looking at the French example

1. I suggest you start looking at the costs, particularly alternative cost.
2. TGV has been much more scientific and industrial project than transportation project.

In short words, some behave like little children in a toy shop, the grown ups see the bottom line.

Genealogy / Slavs are descendants of Sarmatians? [600]

There's definately some connection between Sarmatians and Slavs, probably some groups of Sarmatians merged with several other tribes and that's how Slavs emerged.

Work / Need details for working in POLAND, LODZ. [27]

or do you just prefer to ineffectively snipe at other posters?

Do you think people reading these forums are total idiots ? They can scroll up and see in #3 that you started this nonsense. Basically, I'm telling this guy about reality, you are feeding him with some unrealistic bullshi*s.

Anyway, judging by some of your posts in other threads

For example ?

you aren't exactly a genius in financial matters, are you?

Yeah, only about 100 light years ahead of you.

The facts are that 10 gross is a decent salary in Poland. Not fantastic, but decent.

Very true. It would be very good If he was single, without family to support. But If that money will have to be spent on several people they will have it probably worse than in India.

Job for non Polish speaking wife? Very unlikely, she would have to learn at least basic Polish.

His wife is a dentist, for non-EU people getting permission to work in a medical profession here is extremly difficult and would probably take years to complete... and sending non-Polish speaking kids to Polish public school would be a madness.

The OP sounds a decent guy.

I'm not saying he isn't but I don't think they will have a better life here than in India... or that Poland is desperately needing non-Polish speaking SAP consultants...

10.000 gross is ~7.000 net, that is ~1600 EUR.

In what ? Personally I don't see how this move to Poland would be beneficial either to you and your family or to Poland.

History / Was the holocaust by Germans in Poland the worse genocide in history? [210]

They claim 2 million Poles died instead of 3 million...

What's wrong with that ? Around 2 million Polish civilians killed by Germans is accurate number... add to that people killed by Soviets, Ukrainians, soldiers fallen in many, often strange parts of the world and you will get around 2.5 million, these are realistic WW2 loses for ethnic Poles. The whole "3 million" stuff was taken out of nowhere and can not be proven in any way, I don't understand why It still is treated as a kind of official figure...

News / Y Shaped high speed rail line Poland [78]

Railways need a massive modernization and, in order for its effects to be visible as soon as possible, Poland needs to focus on modernizing existing railways and not spend money on new projects, the transport minister said.

Very true. The whole "high-speed railways" nonsense was a way to suck huge amount of money out of Poland by several western companies. However I don't understand what they want to do in regard to the central airfield... just change the localization ? I will be badly needed in a few years.

History / Was the holocaust by Germans in Poland the worse genocide in history? [210]

During Mao's era in China... 50-80,000,000,000 were killed.

Chinese killing other Chinese, that's much different than Holocaust. Was Holocaust of Jews worse or not, It's a matter of personal perspective I think... It was definitely one of the worst genocides in the history. I don't like it when sometimes, especially in the USA, It's been treated like a main event in the history of mankind but It definitely does deserve attention.

News / Poland please don't give up your hard won democracy to the EU. Or give up the zloty! [24]

I will make it as simple as it is possible... hopefully you will finally get it.

Foreign entity investing in export oriented, technologically advanced business forming joint-venture with local entity -> GOOD

Foreign entity investing in domestic-market oriented and solely foreign owned business without any significiant transfer of technology/know-how (All the Tescos, Lidls, Unicredits, developers etc. fall under this category) -> NOT GOOD

News / Poland please don't give up your hard won democracy to the EU. Or give up the zloty! [24]

you have had 100' billions of Euro from the EU and FDI has made you what you are today.

FDIs are not a feckin charity, they invest money in Poland to suck back more than that, made on work of Polish people. In many cases they make more bad than good i.e. banking, retail or energy. Why do you think Chinese don't allowe "foreign investors" into these sectors ?

As for "EU funds" Poland will have to spent more to deal with EU's CO2 nonsense alone than It gets out of it. So much for "good west". Why the hell do you think Poland and all the other "Eastern european" countries were invited to join EU ? Why EU was spending money on "vote yes" campaings in these countries ? They were so desperate to make these people happy, right ?

Poland should have never joind EU but now it's really hard to say what should be done... They already raped our banking, retail and several other sectors, stole +2 million productive people... It can't be turned back easily even If we leave EU.

albiet slower than with EU

Why ? Take a look at Turkey. You think they would be doing better now If they joined EU say 10 years ago ?

News / Poland please don't give up your hard won democracy to the EU. Or give up the zloty! [24]

and now they seem desperate to give it away again to Brussels.

It's not "Polish", It's Tusk and his clowns, average Joe doesn't protest as is being brainwashed by the media how super dooper good membership in EU is for Poland, how much we pay into it, "foreign investors" stealing our money, lose on no tariffs or huge amount of money we will have to spend on reducing CO2 emission is not mentioned, these few who don't buy it anyway are being called anti-semitic/homophobic/anti-European nationalists... Generally a lot was invested in take over of Poland and the "elites" (politicians/media) sold their people a bit the way Negro tribe rulers used to sell their own to slave traders.

Good the whole damn thing is shaking, so no EUR in Poland in the next several years, they will also probably reduce the hand outs, so I believe people here will not buy into it so much anymore.

Real Estate / Banks in Poland selling fewer mortgages in 2011, down 49% [285]

But people are still buying.

Yes they do... Polish economy has been driven by consumption and public investments for the last years... but It can't go on forever... What we need is growing (and I don't mean 2% year to year...) export led by technologically advanced products, greater investemnts in the private sector and serious expansion of Polish owned business, not IKEA, Tesco etc. Unfortuantely I see little chance for a serious improvement in these areas in coming years.
