News / Die Welt-Poland and Germany are the economic driving force of Europe [239]

Obviously, but those consumers mustn't borrow money in order to consume the product. To do so is the sign of a failed (failing?) economy.

Yes, it can cause financial ruin, but when done within reason, it can help an economy expand.
Debt might be necessary in some instances. It might be vital for people to go into temporary credit card debt to support economic growth. If everybody decides to not go into any credit card debt at all, ever, it could be devastating for an ecomony.

The key is to make sure the employment situation is secure and the person getting the card will make enough money to pay the card off.

True. Most businesses rely on consumers buying their product. It's a catch 22. It is very difficult to maintain that balance. Manufacturers and retailers benefit from the debt people create in order to consume products. They sell more, can hire more people, expand, etc.

agricultural sector.

This is China's trouble spot with unemployment, low wages and rampant poverty. This is where Chinese government should step up to the plate, sponsoring programs to help these poor people out so families can stay together and people can afford to have more kids.

The topic: Think you're Polish (and live in the USA)?

Are you listening to yourself PP? Who are they to critisize America? 99% of the countries on this planet are worse off, fix your own **** then talk about others

if that's true that's even more reason why they should spend their tax dollars on their own citizens. That way they improve their standard of living.

In order for a country to improve, govt has got to play a role and help out or else it devolves. Govt is to help people, not hurt people. When govt doesn't help it's bad govt.

America is about self expression and using words to critique our government, Pennboy,so why wouldn't we encourage that from people of other nations? It's an inherent part of the American philosophy and a noble one as well :)

It's always been that way.

which of these possibilities describes you PP?

Poland is fascinating. A lot of people don't know much about it which is why it's so interesting discussing it.

American with Polish roots, Pennboy, as I've stated before...

And I don't "bash" my country. I exercise my right to freedom of expression by critiquing what I see are dangerous practices by our govt.

this is what I repeated at least 20 times on this forum to show that having problems is not just an American phenomenon. The problem is that you guys only concentrate on us like there's nobody else out there who struggles too.

...because we are Americans and if we don't look out for ourselves, no one else will ;)

why are they a risk to your security?

They took our jobs, they bought our bonds and they treat their citizens like utter crap, the Chinese govt does. Not the best example to follow but our politicians act like they have been thoroughly bought by this red dragon at times.

This crisis in America is due partly to shrinkage in the manufacturing sector due to loss of jobs to Asia. That, my friend, is a threat to our national security since it's wrecking havoc on our economy and this is known to cause civil unrest and instability. See how sly the red dragon is?

Okay...enough about China.

Every country has problems, gw. China is not perfect but well on it's way to becoming a viable threat. Perhaps it is already there. We need to be realistic about it instead of praising them to the skies, which is what you hear in the media. Remember when they were declared "most favored nation?" Since when is it American to put another country above all others and declare it is most favored? That is just ridiculous!

But, it's proof of what I am talking about. China is too influential and too cold.
China should start taking care of Chinese and stop trying to dominate through acquisition of bonds at the expense of their own citizens.

@wb...our constitution was written to protect America and her future generations ;)

here about your beloved China

Marek isn't pro China. We have to be realistic about China, though. They are actually the biggest risk to our security, worse than Al Qaeda but far stronger so you don't hear about it as much.

That's what I mean and that is what our govt should do! Our government won't because politicians like their trips to China and covet the obedience of the Chinese citizens. They wish they could go home and have the same situation here. That way we are easier to exploit. We are weak.

This is why the govt refuses to protect our interests.
Well, guess what? In the constitution, it says the govt is supposed to protect us first and foremost, above all else.

China is buying the bonds from Europe and U.S to keep the game going but it is preparing for showdown over Asia dominance and even world dominance.

Which is why US must act against them very soon instead of striving to become like them. I heard a phone interview with Newt Gingrich the other day. He was bragging about how smart his friend is because he knows fluent Mandarin! Gingrich, the sellout, equates intelligence not with invention and creativity, but with speaking "fluent Mandarin." It's clear what direction our politicians are taking us. They would absolutely love it if this place were more like China. That way they get to keep all the tax dollars to do what they please while quality of life for the people gets lower and lower. Just like, surprise, China.

if we didn't buy their goods.

I am not talking about us buying their goods. I meant them buying our treasury bonds. Instead of doing that, spend the money on the people of China.

China, which just a few decades ago could hardly feed her citizens, is now the leading creditor to the US.

Why does China do that? China has so many poor people why doesn't the government take care of them before financing American debt. It's sad when you see the standard of living and the baby taxes while the government spends excess money financing us.

You should consider what is really going on here at the moment. A country like China who treats its citizens like crap is spending tax dollars buying up American debt instead of taking care of all the ailing poor chinese or letting them have a couple more kids per family without having to pay that huge tax for the birth certificates.

You can vote for the Presidential candidates but you can never become President if you were not born in the US.

You wouldn't be Polish ethnicity. You would British-Polish.

News / Hydraulic Fracturing in Poland. [14]

Plastic Pole- My family and friends have experienced first hand the damage fracking can do (in my hometown in the US). I hope we can avoid the same but who will speak up against the "frackers"?

A guy named Josh Fox is taking them on and has stopped controversial fracking practices around the sensitive New York City watershed area and on and around his parent's home in the Catskills of Pennsylvania. Get in touch with Josh Fox.

We have methane in our ground water also but it's attributed to shallow gas deposits. And as for drinking water contamination, try home filters. Everyone should have regardless.

Does your water catch on fire? If it doesn't you don't have as much methane as these people in Josh Fox's documentary. The energy corporation Encana has already compensated people for their trouble. You cannot filter out the dioxins. Poles have the right to be informed before the fracking boom starts of all the chemicals they will be exposed to. They have a right to demand the fumes from the condensate tanks be captured and the spent water disposed of expediently, not left in the ground to evaporate and seep in.

News / Hydraulic Fracturing in Poland. [14]

If Poland is indeed the Saudi Arabia of natural gas in Europe, be extra wary. We have such places here. One is in Pennsylvania another in New York, in the catskills where well water is so tainted with methane the water coming out of the faucets catch on fire. Water wells exploded. There's a place in Wyoming that has undergone extensive fracking. People living near these places have lost their sense of smell and have peripheral neuropathy. Some even have lesions in their brains from the fumes venting from the top of condensate tanks. Fracking boom can mean health problems for anyone living nearby...

Tlum, I already posted about hydraulic fracturing in Poland. It could very well pollute the watersheds with fracking chemicals used to break up the shale deep in the ground...

News / Polish cleaner blows the lid on 'dirty' Germans [124]

"Dirty" for once?

Probably just typical slobs who slosh around and make big messes. Their maid probably has a weak back and hates bending over to pick stuff up. They probably don't mop up their spills, clean their toilets or pick up their dirty clothes. They could be obnoxious and arrogant as well. Being a maid must surely suck.

News / Polish cleaner blows the lid on 'dirty' Germans [124]

Under German Beds by the 32-year-old Polish cleaner – who writes under the pen name Justyna Polanska – has only just been released, but the account, which is drawn from her 12 years' experience of cleaning for well-to-do German households, already seems destined to be a bestseller.

That sounds like an interesting read but really, people are like that all over. It's not just Germans, but Germans are certainly capable. Stereotypes are merely myths.

Life / What is the reason for POLISH jokes ? [486]

There are so many polish people in western world not admitting their descent.

Not so in the US! You see a Polish surname and you know there's Polish ancestors somewhere unless the person was adopted or got the last name by marriage.

Just saying that you can't always blame the men who get involved,

Doesn't matter if they are male or female, they are to blame for what they do. Violence in self defense is a response to someone else's violence. It goes to show that violence has evil outcomes.
