Minimal, their invasion was predominantly confined to southern Poland and their army was relatively small. Poland at the time was formed from disjointed regions who initially did not present a united front.

Poland was a sideshow to the main invasion of Hungary, which was just as well from Poland's point of view. The towns that were destroyed at the time were quite small and so relatively easy to rebuild, including Krakow.

It would be very hard to tell, but given that the Polish interaction with the tartars continued long after the invasion, as many of them served in the Polish army, there is an undoubted connection. I suppose it would be quite a bit smaller than the present interaction of Brits with Brits of Afro-Caribbean descent or Brits descendant from the subcontinent.

Galicia was always predominantly Ukrainian-a people who until very recently did not identify themselves with a nation state, the word Ukraina is a Polish word meaning borderland, or on the edge. The Poles in the Ukraine mainly consisted of the landed gentry and town folk. The Ukrainians predominately consisted of serfs and peasants.

Poland is a smaller country now because of internal politics, ravenous upstart countries like Prussia and Russia, all the different wars, and a recent urge for independence by countries like the Ukraine and Belarus. And a general combination of these things over a long period of time.

Polish Cossacks are essentially Ukrainian cossacks who fought for Poland, they were very fickle, they essentially sold their services to the highest bidder regardless of nationality.

Interesting, although that is not a lot of info. According to that the highest number of registered working foreigners in Poland are from the Ukraine, 3500. Does not sound terribly accurate in terms overall population though.
