Food / Organic fruit and vegetable - delivery (Warsaw) [33]

Prices are pretty steep. I do my veg shopping at the Saturday market in Konstancin, or in £omianki.
In Konstancin there is a guy selling bacon - the real stuff - which you cannot find in any supermarket in Warsaw. Also have a decent egg man there.

Life / Bishops defend Polish family [105]

a loyal Catholic has no choice but to opt for morality.

And of course we see examples of that morality in the Polish church everyday - Mr. Maybach for example?
Mr. Paetz? That fool who immolated himself on a cemetery after molesting children... Take your pick.
Not to mention your beloved PIS leader who is gay as a maple (which is for me is not an issue an sich) but pretends to be the best catholic in the country :)

News / demonstration; What is Nowa Prawica? [30]

So I missed a chance to see him live on stage :) To be honest for this kind of demonstration there were very few police around...I guess they also thought it was a waste of their time :)

I think went through all this ranting before some time ago, no ?
Polish bishops should be the last ones to teach people about moralities, not with Paetz in their midst and a sizeable portion supporting Mr. Maybach....

News / demonstration; What is Nowa Prawica? [30]

Walked today through Starówka here in Warsaw and at Plac Zamkowy there was a demonstration going on from some outfit "Nowa Prawica". Anyboard heard of them?

Just found out it is Korwin-Mikke.

Life / A rant about "patriotism" in today's Poland [60]

This is my biggest gripe.

Because people believe it is completely bollocks and more important, they do not like the music at all? The market, stupid?
If you are so involved with the Polish nation...move over here. get to do something in a charity.
Pay Polish VAT and taxes. And you can also buy one of their idiotic CD's in your local Empik.

News / Is Jarosław Kaczyński the new Lech Wałęsa? [74]

Power is not the goal, it is only an instrument.

That's why during his term of office, opposition parties and media were spied on around the clock. The IPN used to discredit on PIS enemies... (did they ever release a file on the original duck by the way?). Monika Olejnik was threatened by the the first duck that he would get her.

And then that creep Ziobro (the closest I know to a regular SD office

Good that during the last elections the commercial radio stations played a crucial role...motivating the voters to go to vote...they ran announcement marathons well until the closing hours.

But then I would not you to expect you to understand this. You live in the PolAm world. We were with some friends following it on a minute basis. My wife phoning all her media contacts, calling in old debts...just to keep the airwaves open.

Life / Polish Etiquette [11]

Wearing sandals with socks (OK the weather will not permit it any more) is completely not-done.
Ironside has a point as well though.
What is completely cretin is to remain seated when you give someone a hand who is standing.

News / More punch-UPS ON 11th NOV in Poland? [56]

WE menaing thsoe on PF who are on to you. No, I will not be marching. I may watch from the sidelines. It'll be interesting to see if the past PM Kaczyński and the future one, Gliński, will be marching side by side.

So...could you provide some links to your journalistic "work" ?
Gliński could of course also run for the next pope - same chance :)
And why will you not be marching between your nazi brethren (I suppose you love the ONR) ?

Life / Is the 1st of November a work-free holiday in Poland? [12]

I would prefer if they would crash their cars on a concrete barrier by themselves. This would relieve the country of a load of pathological egoists who the country would not miss. But unfortunately it always involves a lot of innocents :(

Life / Fake goods in Poland [42]

To be honest, her father as a "fachowiec" was acting very naive. I mean, me as a complete amateur would not buy anything on a parking.

Life / Is the 1st of November a work-free holiday in Poland? [12]

1st November is a very emotional day here in Poland. It is a public holiday. But as Delph was writing - there is the usual carnage on the road...A lot of nutcases want to be included in the the next 01-11....

We are not not always in Warsaw that day (going to the in-laws) but the years we are, we are always lying down flowers and lighting a candle on the monument for Maczek's boys at Plac Inwalidów. For me always an emotional moment.

Delph, I see nothing wrong in a long weekend...Good that we have them.

Travel / Restaurant reviews in Poland. [86]

Also, they should really update their texts. Some of them are way behind the reality. Regarding the reviews - I really it has to do with freebies. I mean a certain outfit has been in favour since the beginning, and then suddenly is dropped....

But Warsaw Insider is even worse.

Travel / Restaurant reviews in Poland. [86]

What I see that IYP often drops well-known names from it lists. For example Lolek is nowhere to be seen in the printed version. I suppose this is because the writers do not get freebies anymore there. The local critics have often other opinions as the IYP expats.

Classifieds / D&D Group for Expats in Warsaw needs one more player... [69]

Maybe I am a bit simple and for sure very old-fashioned...but this is sooo artificial. We meet up with our friends for a beer, for dinner, for a walk in £azienki.

No role playing. For that one I have a good book and a cold beer in the Old Town.
But again, maybe I am totally oldfashioned :(

History / Welcome to Lemmingrad! [59]

As with the president, perhaps the ruling party should also be limtied to two consecutive terms in office. That way, Poland wouldn't be saddled with w third-term Tusk clique. It would also save money and frazzled citizens' nerves to have all elections -- presidential, parliamentary and local -- held simutaneously -- ever 4 or 5 years.

And then the 70% would still mock the smolenkists. Or do you mean that after two terms only the 30% will be allowed to vote?

History / Welcome to Lemmingrad! [59]

I remember here in Warsaw during the last parliamentary elections all commercial radio stations were into late of the evening were telling: "go voting, go" and repeating this until the very last moment. I remember me listening to RadioZet late into the night, one moment I was thinking the studio people were going to drive the voters to the election stations themselves :)

I think they saved the country in the end. The commercial media acted decisively. They could not be bullied by ziobro laptop. They mobilized and attacked. This kind of action gives a warm feeling - that the 70% knew what to do.

Life / Fake goods in Poland [42]

But I am at a loss how anybody can buy a chainsaw on a parking - when 20 mtrs further on you can buy the real article?

For example I bought on the Russian market years ago CD's. Which still work fine.
My brother on the other hand bought there MS Office - do not remember which edition - and it turned out to be Bulgarian :)
But we are talking here about some CD's.
But a chainsaw and a generator???

It reminds me of the Russian market in Warsaw. But there at least you knew that about everything was fake.

History / Welcome to Lemmingrad! [59]

Try to google this phonebook list. Very entertaining. 70% of the electorate think most likely the same.
I asked at work and my colleagues were scratching their head.

News / A new AWS (Poland Solidarity Movement)? [54]

If JK is homosexual

Ask anybody in the media crowd in Poland. They will confirm it.

Nothing of that sort happened in Poland yet, but there have happened other instances of "multiply" killing in the West.

First of all, I respect your point of view. But I was last year on KP when they tried to move the cross. And the hatred, fanaticism, frenzy I saw...could easily lead to an "accident" ?

So the 30% is in my view ready for that.
I do not approve of everything PO stands for. I only vote for them because there is no alternative basically. I had big hopes for the "young SLD"...bur there as well :(
