Real Estate / Buying land near the Vistula/Wisla in Poland? [5]

Great thanks, yeah that kind of thing would be ideal, Tyniec is quite close, so that's good!

Not sure why, but I really am attached to water views, so being on a hill with the river view still would be great!

Real Estate / Buying land near the Vistula/Wisla in Poland? [5]

Does anyone know if its possible to buy land on the banks of the Vistula near (I know near is subjective, ideally within a 20 min drive, but I doubt that is realistic) Krakow, ideally West rather than East, but that's not the be all and end all. It would be purchased by a Polish national and would be used for residential (not commercial) purposes, i.e. to build a house with river views.

I've not seen any plots for sale at all, so I'm wondering if they are protected or simply just not available?

Any advice/assistance would be appreciated!

Real Estate / Bank for mortgage in Poland? - I have an excellent credit ratings [4]

Although still a long way off (probably approximately 1 year away), once married, my (soon to be) wife and I are considering moving to Krakow.

I'm self employed, but work remotely, so I won't need to change jobs and will have proof of income etc.

She is a Polish national and will probably look for part time work once (if) we move.

Now the question is, how easy will it be for us to get a mortgage and what % do we need to have saved up in terms of a deposit (I'd like to think we could realistically achieve 30-50% looking at Krakow prices currently)?

In terms of UK credit ratings, mine is excellent and hers is good, so here we wouldn't have a massive problem (other than the fact that some brokers don't like lending to people who are self employed), but I'm not sure how the system works there.

Real Estate / Flat in Krakow near Wavel - how much to rent a 100m2 apartment? [11]

I'm sort of a bit mistrusting of Gumtree, admittedly I've never really looked for property there, but virtually everything else just seems to be fake/scams, so I tend to stick to property websites!

I've found a few websites, there is plenty to rent in Krakow, which is good, may not be able to get the river view, but should still be able to get a good location, fairly central (hopefully). Also, not in a massive rush, just looking for now, probably won't need to actually start viewing for 6 months or so, so I just wanted to get a rough idea!

Real Estate / Flat in Krakow near Wavel - how much to rent a 100m2 apartment? [11]

Just as a rough guide, how much would it cost to rent a 100m2 apartment near the river with a view of either (or both) the Wisla and Wavel?

Also, again very roughly speaking, how much would a similar apartment cost to buy?

I've seen plenty of flats that size available in Krakow, but struggling to find any with river/castle views, I appreciate they are rare, but are they impossible to find, or do you just need to be quick when one becomes available?

Travel / Southern Lakes in the South of Poland for sailing / boating [22]

Oooh that is interesting!

From this and your other post about the river, I'm assuming you are a keen boater/sailor yourself. Where abouts do you go?

Also how do you find out about these projects, is there a website, or purely local knowledge?

Travel / Boating on the Wisla/Vistula near Krakow [5]

I've seen a little mini catamaran operate sort of near Wavel, I thought maybe you could hire that, but I was thinking of something a fraction bigger that you could spend a whole day on ideally!

I had no idea about the marina, that is very interesting!

I found this, which is interesting, but doesn't massively help:

kzgw.gov.pl/en/Srodladowe-drogi-wodne-w-Polsce.html

So the search goes on!

If anyone has any more tips that would be greatly appreciated!

Travel / Boating on the Wisla/Vistula near Krakow [5]

A multi part question, but...

Firstly can anyone recommend a company that hires out speedboats in or near Krakow (I have the RYA Intermediate Powerboat certificate, which I can convert to an ICC, so in effect I have a licence if this is required)?

Secondly, I believe you can get from the coast down to Krakow by boat, but how far towards the source can you go, some of the scenery looks amazing past Krakow, but is it navigable at all?

Lastly are there any speed limits and/or other restrictions I should be aware of?

Law / Paying tax on UK I.S.A. in Poland? [20]

Is there anything similar in Poland to a UK stocks and shares ISA (i.e. a tax free way of buying shares/bonds and potentially holding them for a long period of time)?

Or if nothing tax free is available, is it possible for foreigners to invest in the Polish stock/bond markets via a broker? If so, are there any that speak/deal in English that anyone can recommend?

Travel / Szczyrk- Snowboarding [6]

I have boarded before, however my fiancee hasn't ever been, so we're planning to get private lessons over there!

Travel / Szczyrk- Snowboarding [6]

We are thinking of going Szczyrk Snowboarding, over new years. The nearest Ski lift to our (preferred, we haven't booked yet) hotel is apparently the Skrzyczne Ski Lift.

However, we are both beginners and wondered if there are any English speaking snowboarding instructors and/or whether it is a good place for beginners to learn?

Life / Best / cheapest PAYG sim card for data and calls in Poland? [19]

Merged:iPhone 5 Sim Card with Data - what packages are available to use it in Poland? PAYG services?

I have an unlocked iPhone 5 so I should be able to use any carrier (that uses the new smaller SIM), however I have no idea what packages are available?

All I am really after is a pay as you go package, that includes data. I generally go over to Poland every 2 or 3 months.

Is there any carrier that offers this kind of thing?

Just in case anyone else had the same problem, I managed to find a 20zl (for 1GB data) pay as you go micro SIM on Orange. Although a Micro SIM is too big for the iphone 5, there are a few places that cut them to the right size for about 10zl (I found one right outside the T-Mobile shop in the Galeria Krakowska).

Love / Polish Wedding Venue near Krakow [22]

Have been working through that list, unfortunately the castle's are all out due to accomodation issues / they won't do non-catholic ceremonies / too far from Krakow.

Paszkowka Palace & Villa Decius we're speaking to, just waiting for responses to our questions.

The Salt Mines we're going to ask, was really hoping for a castle/palace, but will try anyway...

Will check out the other two!

Still struggling here! There are a few venues big enough, but they all seem to be booked up :-(

Love / Polish Wedding Venue near Krakow [22]

We have no religious beliefs and would feel a bit uncomfortable in a religious venue, so we would definitely prefer the non-religious option if possible.

Yep thats exactly it!

She was born in Krakow so she would definitely prefer it to be near Krakow.

Yes good point, we'll check out the salt mine.

Love / Polish Wedding Venue near Krakow [22]

We actually had a look at U Ziyada this weekend, its on the maybe list, however although the views are great I wasn't massively impressed with the inside. Also the hotel accomodation (although cheap and clean) isn't the most appealing (the main building itself only has very limited accomodation).

Hipis- The ceremony doesn't have to be in the same place as the reception, but obviously closer is preferable. However the accomodation has to be in the same place as the reception, otherwise people won't be so likely to stick around til the early hours...

Love / Polish Wedding Venue near Krakow [22]

When we asked about a civil ceremony at Wawel they told us they do not agree with that type of marriage and that was that (not saying of course that will be the response elsewhere)!

Willa Decjusza looks lovely, but they don't seem to have much accomodation, so will get in touch and see what they recommend...
