I know in the USA the Polish American community's more connected and has done a fairly good job of fighting anti-Polish sentiment.

Anyways, those i'diot Germans should not be producing or encouraging comedy like this. Honestly, I think the Polish media should monitor this and create their own negative, animal like stereotypes of Germans. Anybody up for Fritz, the cross dressing, sister molesting German neighbor? I'd watch that for a laugh :) It might be more like a documentary.

Still doesn't make it ok. If you pay a starving actor enough, they'll do anything- including selling their dignity. The point is this is being produced for German TV (hopefully on a hard to find cable station) and it shouldn't be. Would the krauts use Jewish stereotypes on their TV shows??

I will not travel to Germany ever to spend my tourist dollars there if they continue to produce garbage like this. I found this at thenews.pl/international/artykul152132_german-tv-in-polish-stereotype-row.html. Perhaps the Nazi krauts need a bit of sensitivity training. I wonder what would happen if in America something similar was produced about blacks?

Polonia / Poland and France cultures are similar [112]

Poles can be quite sophisticated, especially if you're a North American observer (I have been to Warsaw). Being too sophisticated on the other hand makes you look like an horses a'ss. I hear the Frenchies make their children "learn" about food even in the beginning stages if pre-school. They take food waaaay more seriously than Poles and even Germans and Russians I think. Poles have a different history, more oppressive. This could be a big reason our culture was not exported. As a result we are not that arrogant but of course we have our own thinkers, intelectuals etc. It's not Polands fault due to politics that we are overlooked sometimes.

Plac Stanislas in Nancy, France. Naming a square after a Polish guy is a pretty nice friggin gesture in my opinion. The result of a friendly country maybe?

My childhood was full of magical, well-known tales about characters like Tevye the Milkman, as well as tales of love and joy and everyday life in the shtetls of Poland, told with warmth and wit by my grandparents.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is to present a document signed in the 1960s by Poland and the United States which shows that Washington effectively gave up its right to represent its citizens in such restitution cases.

Talking to Polish Radio on Thursday morning, Radoslaw Sikorski said that "the United States gave up the right to represent its citizens in such cases and took the burden upon itself to pay out restitution money worth millions which Poland had already paid to the United States."

"However, American pressure on Poland to pay out restitution claims has not pleased Radoslaw Sikorski, who told Polish Radio Thursday morning that "if the United States would have wanted to help Polish Jews, a good moment for that would have been 1943-44, when the majority of them were still alive, and Poland was pleading for help through the voice of Jan Karski."

"Such an intervention is now too late," Sikorski concluded.

During his mission in 1942, Karski provided evidence of German extermination policy against the Jews to the London based Polish government-in-exile, as well as to top British and US politicians and the press."

Ronald Lauder dismissed claims that by the Polish government it had to postpone plans to introduce compensation legislation owing to austerity measures Arguing that the Polish economy was one of the strongest in Europe, Mr Lauder said "it is unacceptable that Poland cannot find some way to meet its responsibilities to former landowners."

Well your wife is correct, us poles are our own special breed. We're different than yanks and american women like us. I think polish guys are better husbands when paired up with non-polish women. Polish women are too difficult.

You'll be landing in Warsaw so check it out first. The Royal Route and Old Town are beautiful. Check out the Royal Castle. Warsaw is the perfect mix. Has the best night life.

I have to defend Warsaw again. Most tourists arrive in Warsaw and the city is a great one indeed. You just have to leave the train station. Warsaw has nice attractions like: The Old and New Towns, a beautiful 4km Royal Route (Krakowskie Przedmiescie) filled with great architecture/shopping, Castle Square which is quite romantic, beautiful Lazienki Park. Check out the National Museum and also the Royal Castle which is also a museum. Also the new architecture is quite impressive and if you like that stuff then it's worth a look. Warsaw also has some great interactive museums dedicated to the Warsaw Uprising and Chopin. Praga district across the river has a growing art scene and can be quite bohemian. Warsaw is cosmopolitan and is a mixture of old and new.
