Work / My friend is looking for a job in Poland with a physics degree [32]

besides research and teaching, what other jobs can physicists get?

Quite a lot of people who work in high level banking have physics degrees or at least they do in the UK, could be different in Poland, then there is also engineering...so fs, there are lots of jobs open to those with physics degrees / masters and PHDs

Love / Polish girls want to be dominated. Fact? [63]

Question for any women on this board: after all this why does she continue to send me photos of kittens, etc., with messages saying "Ooo.. so adorable! Should I get one?" Is this normal for a Polska? It frankly kinda freaks me out.

Send her a photo of your nob and ask if she'd prefer that instead? :D

Study / Shocking! Test standards in Polish schools. [165]

Actually French is only compulsory from 11 to 14 (years 7 to 9) after that most drop languages as they are not deemed useful.

As for the paragraphs the OP posted, they were not grammatically correct, but understandable at the same time, seems like grammar isnt top of the list for teachers in Polish schools.

Life / Does Polish society accept new people especially those not from Poland [41]

[quote=tomjustyna] I have found those from the bigger cities are less welcoming seems very slow to accept.[/quote

Different person different view....

Where exactly are you from where they accept foreigners with open arms....

In villages in the UK they wouldnt accept someone who didnt even have a local accent.

In towns in the UK someone can get the living daylights beat out of them because they dont have a local accent...

No where is perfect...Most on here say that big cities are better for foreigners and now you think because you happen to visit your wifes village all villagers are lovely....

Why do people ask such narrow minded stupid questions!

UK, Ireland / Polish is an official language in the UK? [68]

And allegedly signs in Haworth in Japanese, pointing to the Bronte Parsonage.

I can tell you now, all the signs in Howarth are in English :) Was there the other week.

The official language in the Britain is English, unless you are in North Wales....

and accept every African asylum seeker on a whim as we do.

They dont need to seek asylum, they all have French passports! Have you seen the suburbs of Paris these days???

Love / Falling for a Polish guy and confused.. [23]

I don't have any European or Polish friends so I'm trying to get a feedback from this forum.

We're no different in Europe than what you are in America..Relatonships and people work exactly the same.

LDR's can work, but more often than not they don't, especially if you haven't had time to establish some kind of bond in the first instance.

UK, Ireland / Tale of a Polish Family on Isle of Man [43]

those of us who know a thing or two know how Britain begged for money from others in the past, too.

And paid the debt back, Britian has never had a free ride (excluding what they pillaged from ex colonies of course).

My bro who has a cleaning company has not employed an English person for 2O years, he said all they did was complain, skimp on the job or not show up.

What you mean is he's been going for cheap labour for the last 20 years, probably paying cash in hand and under the going rate.

Incidentally I am sitting in a well known pub/diner chain in London, the 'foreign' staff are utterly charming, the one English person is a rude cow with an attitude problem, who has NO IDEA how to talk to customers.

Another jibe at the English...Oh dear!

In the UK we should have the same 10 year rule for economic migrants,if you come here and cant make it,tough,go home, but, there should always be room for exceptions. Guess what, "we" could easily afford those exceptions if "we" were not so profligate with benefits.

Totally agree.

Life / Multiracial Poles [154]

We'll see Shelley lol,

I meant out the ones shown on here...personally I think the cutest and best looking are mixed south east asian, my friend is Chinese from Hong Kong originally and his wife is English, their kids are out of this world..Met quite a few mixed Chinese / English when I used to go clubbing in Liverpool too..Its nothing new here and not looked upon as something different.

UK, Ireland / Slough & Elsewhere UK [23]

The UK wouldn't have 570 thousand millionaires if they were lazy lol (4th highest in world). The Poles who come to the UK are eager to work and make money, Are all Poles back home workaholics?

Well said, I wanted to make a point, without bigging up Brits and putting down Poles...neither one is better than the other...My uncle worked in the middle east for years as an engineer so I know what its like for family to travel for work to make a better life for the family (and he paid his mortage off a lot sooner than my parents did!)..

Comments are from the last vid.

The English are a lazy race? What all of us? even those that have built companies who are employing Polish people?are..This cee u next tuesday came here illegal! Comments like that make me laugh and he was not representative of Polish people who are integrated, total ignorance.

Regarding Romananians:

Lazy and a bad attitude, not much more to add to that.

Im just finishing a project and have been working on a site (yes a building site) for the past 4 months and whilst Ive worked there Ive heard the Poles who are on site speak perfect English and the ones Ive spoken to have been here for around 7 to 10 years, they're not scratching round for work (all well skilled), neither do they consider the British inferior, they work with them and respect them, they have lunch with them and they're not insular, i.e. not just mixing with Poles at break time...

Posting YouTube videos really doesnt help...it just gives a one sided view rather that what is happening in the world itself.

Polish people do not eat pies

Really? No pastry whatsoever? Hmmmmmmmmmm...I had apple pie in Poland...Szarlotka....yum yum yum...

but of course you knew that because you are clever

Oh yes I am..Evidently, you are not ;0)

Can you all suggest which are the best obesity & slimming products used by most of them in Poland pls?

For fear of sounding rude, eat veg and meat, and normal portions and exercise..slimming products are only a quick fix...you'll put the weight on when you go back to old habits, its about life style changes and choices..only you can do it, not a drink in a can..

Language / Naming / Nicknames for Aleksandra or Alexandra? [24]

what if the kid won't live in Canada?
people have some weird names and are asked to spell them all the time... not only foreigners... how many spellings can there be of one name? many.
don't exaggerate.

If you get your name spelt wrong on a daily basis (I do) its frustrating....Alexandra is the Western spelling..so why not make the kids life easy and spell it that way if they are going to live in a none slavic country...As for how many ways:

My name is Shelley, here are a few that people have come up with over the years!

Shelley (perfect 10/10)
Shelly (annoying!)
Sheley (wtf)
Shelee (wtf?)
Sheila (yeah, I think some people are deaf!)
Chelley (this was the most recent)

Language / Naming / Nicknames for Aleksandra or Alexandra? [24]

Amathyst, for as many times as I've read your response, I can't make sense of it.

Sorry, I misread your post, I thought you said "wait till he grows up" not where they grow up, apologies..But I think if she intends to live in Canada, she should go with the x ....

By the way Aleksandra or Alexandra would be female :D ...Either way a lovely name, my nephew is an Alexander, good strong male name! :)

Why wait till she grows up, it's not going to change anything, blimey, my name is an old English name yet people always spell it wrong!

I'd go with x spelling and save the poor child a life of frustration...take it from someone who knows :)

History / Why have Poles contributed so little to Academics? (Particularly Science) [180]

This thread still going ?Do not tell me that some troll keep you going for weeks?

But it's always nice to prove people wrong, which he has been, several times - some poeple dont seem to think there is life outside of their own back yard and if they haven't heard much about a country then there cant be anything worth while about that country...Ignorance is bliss :)

UK, Ireland / Poles in Ireland by Peadar de Burca. They "turned their backs on a country that gave them" [195]

But its always our fault! and no doubt Sheep would have come along and made up a good excuse, Ive been working with Scots for about 2 months and the lack of accountability is staggering...One even blamed the trashing of Manchester city centre on Manchester city council..it had nothing to do with drunken rangers fans!!!!!

Maybe the child they murdered in the name of Ireland was oppressing them somehow.

They killed two, Tim Parry and Jonathan Ball.

RIP, gone but not forgotten...Tim Parry's father actually helped the peace process.

why the British divided the island.

Because they're idiots...dont think for one moment that any sane Brit is proud of what the government of that time did.

I think the IRA could have gone about things in a different way - they should have been more strategic in their attacks, not one person was killed in Manchester and very few were hurt, but they devistated the city and caused millions of £'s worth of damage - this was a real win for them Id have said.

at least the muslims have the good grace to vapourise their sick little arses at the same time as they murder, your heroes RN all hid like little girls...

You cant even put the IRA in the same bracket as terrorists and they are somewhat justified in their attacks on the mainland, 100s of years of occupation and persecution by the English being 2 of them. Im not a sympathiser, but I understand their reasons, if someone invaded my country and did what the English did over there, I think I'd fight back.

He's on the the United Kingdom list....But is proud of his Polish heritage.

Love / Do young Polish ladies 17-23 speak any English? [59]

I've never played the race card at all.

You automatically did that when you mentioned racism..

I ... KNOW I will be accepted, 100%

Then why ask?

I Also did history as well so I know about the whole involvement of Poland during WW1/WW2 and USA and so on.......

What about France or Holland? Their involvement was integral to our winning...Maybe start with a visit there if you're that interested in WWII...Arnhem or visit these places if you're that interested in WWII:

britishwargraves.co.uk

It's ACTUALLY legal for me to work behind a bar, so long as I'm being supervised WHILST pouring drinks, I can serve them without supervision. You need to update yourself knowledge sir.

you wouldnt be allowed to serve alcohol.......supervised or not! Please read carefully what you are googling!

How strange that black people and mixed raced people bang on about acceptance, yet they're happy to play the race card to their own advantage...

I'd love to know what the OP finds so wonderful about Poland..Why not Hungary or the Czech Republic or Slovakia or Russia..All so rich in history...with beautful cities...(well maybe not Slovakia!)
