UK, Ireland / Culture shock (my neighbours in the UK are Polish and Slovak) [88]

They party LOUDLY in their houses and NOT GO TO PUBS. They do not care for their neighbours' peace and quietude.

That is normal. Those immigrants, after moving to the UK, feel free at last because in their home countries they also had to behave. You can`t party loudly at night next to your neighbours in Poland because you will pay a fine. But they think that in the West anything is allowed. Please, be more patient, after a few years they will learn that there are some rules in their new country after all, too.

Life / Political correctness in Poland [210]

When pushed, he couldn't explain how his assistant managed to do all those things without his knowledge.

It is quite possible. Some politicians, especially those busy or less brilliant ones, hire smart guys to handle Facebook or Twitter. Suski, the one who posted that parody, isn`t the brightest guy in PiS ranks, he scored a few amusing fails revealing he is a moron, so he might have a ghost writer, indeed.

Life / Political correctness in Poland [210]

Political correctness made one PiS politician delete his Twitter post which showed a rival politician wearing a heavy make up and saying that he was planning to discuss politics with an LGBT party leader. The PiS politician explained it wasn`t him, his assistant did it. But he didn`t say sorry.

Life / Slogans and designs on Polish T-shirts also represent culture of Poland [25]

Hey, guys, why don`t you get yourselves a Polish T-shirt with a politically incorrect slogan and design? Or a patriotic one for a change? Or just a funny one? I see my students wear them to school and some are very intriguing.

Which one do you prefer?

Genealogy / Slavs are descendants of Sarmatians? [600]

When you use big words that don't have specific meanings, it makes things sound more complicated, instead of more simple.

Complicated is good for you because it forces you to think harder than usual (normally people use about 15% of their brain powers) which in turn contributes to the development on new neuron connections in your brain. This will help you avoid or delay Alzheimer`s disease one day.

I don't chew my cabbage twice!

That`s bad. The fiber content in cabbage help to prevent constipation and maintain a healthy digestive tract only on condition it is chewed thoroughly!

Life / What income/assets and worth, will give you a "rich" status in Poland? [22]

How many are/hectare do you own now

Only one.

What size would you need to be happy?

To make my property a little secluded place, about 20.

How much $ would you need to get the 500 meters of solitude in any direction?

One hectar of land in the area costs about 40.000. Of course, only when there is a seller. What if farmers don`t want to sell? I would have to overpay - let`s say 50.000 - 60.000. 20 hectares would cost 1 million.

However, I was more interested in a concrete number.

Here you are. When starting a forest, forresters advise to plant even 10.000 saplings per hectare. 20x10.000 gives 200.000. If I buy wholesale, a small sapling will cost about 1 PLN. Bigger ones 2 - 3 PLN.

On the whole, I would need 1.2 million PLN, about 300.000 $. That`s a lot of money, I would have to sell all our properties to collect that sum.

Genealogy / Slavs are descendants of Sarmatians? [600]

When you stay longer here, you will know that Lyzko, as usual, is trying to accomplish an adequate convergence between the linguistic purity and semantic interference of compatible anomaly effects. Those anomalies correspond to more tolerant dialectal variations but on the whole are semantically heavier and more idiosyncratic than any linguistic truths ever concocted by experts.

Simply speaking, he is offering a broader view to teach people sth new. I hope you understand it and accept it as Lyzko`s natural style.

Life / What income/assets and worth, will give you a "rich" status in Poland? [22]

or would you stay in Poland? What would you buy with your wealth? And so on, and so forth.

Of course I would stay in Poland. I would buy more land around my farm so that nobody bothers me within the distance of at least 500 metres. I would also plant a lot of trees and watch the mixed forest grow. Then I would be able to play with the trees, caress and hug them, because it is really beneficial to your health. Naturally, don`t leave anything to a haphazard chance! you should first learn which particular trees influence humans positively. There are plenty of guide books about it.

Have you ever played tree hugging? I often do it after heated debates in the PF, and that is why I always come back so relaxed.

themindunleashed.com/2013/07/tree-hugging-now-scientifically.html

Just look at me and learn. Only the bare body is able to fully absorbing the positive energy flowing from the tree.

Full point for the brick and socrealism.
The question about music was a bonus without a point. Just a little curiosity. I didn`t mean underground jazz of the stalinist times, but much later times. Hint - music in the pretty female version.

In the meantime:

Well, I just presumed you would know that they would be in Poland - sorry!

Well, even for a while I didn`t think it was improper to post pics about Poland from Vienna. As long as they pertain to Poland, it is OK, I suppose.

Point for Emperor Nero who was my counter reply to your nasty Emperors. :)

I will have to move on to the next difficulty level with my riddles :)

Elementary, Watson!

Can you give the title of the painting, its style and explain how it contributed to Polish music?

Travel / Poland in photo riddles [3134]

The two emperors and 1 empress are rulers who carried out the partitions of Poland. In the background I can see this characteristic old style German writing. So it should be a museum located in one of the partition countries - Germany or Austria, preferably in the capital city. After checking the artist who painted the Catherine Great portrait, I learnt it is on display in Kunsthistorische Museum in Vienna.

Who is sitting and watching what?

How do Polish people see homosexuality?

Some people think it is wrong. E..g, PiS` Interior Minister and the police under his leadership don`t like certain activist who wore a T-shirt with a rainbow Polish Air Force marking

Polish artist is Gustaw Gwozdecki.

Yes, he is known but does not belong to mainstream art. And I think you don`t mean flag but flask.

Hint - he used to live and work in southern Poland, in a famous mountainous resort. I visited his museum/study/home in 1980s.

History / Poland and Israel getting back on the right foot...maybe [132]

Poland and Israel getting back on the right foot...maybe

Not really. An Israeli delegation was turned down by Polish Foreign Office after they introduced some changes which hadn`t been consulted with Poles. Israeli nationalist government is pressing on Holocaust property reparations issue but Polish government refuses to talk about it. Are Israelis mad? When Polish government officially refuses to acknowledge Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and invites a Palestinian delegation to Warsaw for talks, Netanjahu will beg Poles with tears in his eyes to forgive him his foolishness.

The problem is that PiS government won`t do it becaue they rely on the USA and Trump who support Israel unconditionally.

Sorry, no. Hint - nearly 100 years earlier.

I have no idea! It's a bizarre picture.

Yes, his style was unusual, marked with war memories like Wróblewski`s. Another hint - he created collages mostly.

Life / Politics / lifestyle / culture on billboards in Poland - examples [28]

Let`s return to conflict for a while

To vaccinate or not to vaccinate - etc.

Most billboards are sponsored by anti vaccination movements.

  • Medical companies profit from children`s suffering. Watch out - your kid can be next

  • More vaccinations - more diseases
