UK, Ireland / Britain... What the Poles did for us. [444]

It could just be the thread title. Many immigrants bring some kind of skill set with them. It is Polish forums after all.

Well, I have my reservations too but we have to live with it.

Anyway, back to the thread. The Poles did a lot for the job market in Britain. I'm just waiting for an insincere git to blame them for the recession :(

Yes but they are inextricably part of Britain's national fabric. Why yuck, BB? Germany is highly multicultural too. German, the official language of tourism.

Life / POLES FIND CZECH FUNNY! [42]

He's a bit behind me, LOL

Czech does sound a little silly. My fiancee and I were in Cieszyn and she had a laugh at some of the words used. What is it the Poles say about them, Pypitski?

Me too. Let's call it a night on this thread. No midnight feasts :)

There's nothing like a bit of experimentation with food. I like 'al dente' but łazanki squares tend to be a bit mushier, especially when heated up and served with mushroom sauce. Yummy!

It seems good enough to me. Remember, pepper (like salt and...) really brings life to it. Also, the pasta is very important. It should be of a specific type, not just ordinary stuff that you throw some sauce onto.

£azanki is such a great energy food.

It's quite simple to make, really. Plenty of carbs before a gym workout.

They look really good, PD. Try some łazanki, PD. It goes down a treat.

Work / What jobs pay 10,000 zlotych per month? and Where can i find one? :o) [101]

I get 4000PLN in hand, that's after tax (850PLN), financial services (183PLN), insurance (310PLN) and rent for my flat come out (750PLN with internet). I live comfortably off of that, especially that my fiancee has been employed for the last few months.

Comfortable life is a relative concept.

Off-Topic / PF - The Omnibus Edition [1502]

Szarly was the Moderator that unfortunately never was, the unheralded guy of wit and a great ambassador for England.

Hail Szarly, a guy even I'd shout for all night, that's being Scottish too.

Language lesson. In Polish, na can mean many things. For and at being two of them. I stand by my choice, shout for not shout at. I should really help out more in the language threads rather than waste my time going round in circles in terror threads.

Anyway, nice one Szarly :)

Work / Cost of Living, Average Salaries and Job sites in Poland [263]

Name me one person who earns 10,000PLN, icypole? Try 80,000PLN a month, according to my voodoo doctor (fiancee). Personally, I refuse to believe that many Poles earn more than 30,000PLN a month. Everyone is amazed when I tell them I earn 6,500PLN a month.

Classy, Osioł, classy. I've noticed that people are slipping in comments about the thread right at the end, just so that it doesn't get swept off to random chat.

Oh, Bison ;) (we were told to include bison in our posts).

I wonder what the Mods do if half the post is relevant and half isn't. Surely sth for Szarly to write about in his next update.

News / Poland Should Beef Up Military [286]

There has been talk of this for some time but, as of yet, nothing has materialised. I'm not so sure that the current setup needs to be changed.

Do you feel that sth is lacking/insufficient with national armies?

Don't you feel that the Brits would try to bully other armies into doing things their way? British Army folk have a lot of pride.

Poland has abandoned conscription now, right?

Energetic safety :) You are right.

What is your view on a European army, Prince? Tenable proposition or wild pipedream?

Russia isn't exactly inconspicuous but he'd likely guess, 'somewhere in the country called Europe'.

Gotta love those curtains ;)

News / Poland Should Beef Up Military [286]

You are one of those irritating Americans who believe that Russia were the aggressors. Get a grip, buster. America perpetrated it, like 9/11, based on a fallacious pretense. Saakashvili totally erred, his own people turned on him when they discovered the truth.

Stop whipping up a frenzy and creating trouble. We don't want this BS, get it? Listen to the Germans, they got it right. Yes, Russia overreacted but they had to show who was in charge. Not like America has never done that.

For starters, Poland beefing up its military only gives Russians more of a target. Also, it has a sizeable army as it stands. Of course, being in America (I'm guessing) you wouldn't know that.

Future aggression, for what? Signing the missile shield? I live in Poland and don't feel in the least bit threatened by Russia. I wonder why :)
