History / Polish relation about Russians, Ukrainians? [281]

1. Enough.
2. Two. Once Berlin was initially nuked and followed up with a devastating bombing of a selected industrial area (the Ruhr, for instance) - Hitler would either surrender or get killed.

3. That strategy wouldn't work because Hitler wouldn't have expected the first couple of bombs - any attempt to introduce such a strategy would be met with a third and fourth bomb (for instance, Breslau and Dresden) - which would guarantee that the German people would demand the end - now.

News / Kudos to RCC for turning Poland into a laughingstock... again. [38]

I think once Benedict goes and he's replaced with someone politically acceptable to Poles, it might finally happen. Certainly the Polish RCC would be far better without all this getting involved in politics.

Mind you, the defenders of the cross are positively sane compared to some of the maniacs in Poland - I was reading about some of them that explictly reject the 2nd Vatican Council and who consider JPII to be somewhat of a heretic.

Life / How popular is Radio Maryja in Poland? [163]

I didn't know it was at that level.

It is absolutely out of control. The problem is that Rydzyk is essentially being protected by several bishops in Poland - they cannot come to an agreement as to what to do about him, and he also queerly derives his authority from Rome - so the guy is free to do as he pleases. No prosecutor would dare risk his career going after Rydzyk due to the support he enjoys from people like Jaroslaw Kaczynski - so he essentially operates quite freely.

I've also heard one credible theory that if Rydzyk was 'dealt with' internally, then the Church would almost certainly split in Poland - and Benedict is totally against such splits.

News / Pokłosie - should the film have received funding from Polish state coffers? [37]

However, I feel this film went too far in portraying the Polish people involved in this nefarious massacre of 40 Jews

Could you explain why you made such an intentional error? Could it be like your other posts, you have a distinct anti-Jewish agenda?

So, you're in favour of funding for this over, say, more money for the cancer hospitals that are saying to new patients - "Please come back next year, as the government's so incompetent that we've run out of money"

I think it's obvious that you want such events hushed up as much as possible.

Law / Real wages drop in Poland [28]

Ive heard that groupon is killing the language market here in Gdansk. A friend of mine worked for a school in Gdansk where there were 19 students in the class, all group on so they crammed as many in as possible. FOr that, he was getting 35 zl an hour. Luckily I work in an industry where groupon cant go

Me too, but in reality, people who book language classes through Groupon won't last. Language schools will get roughly 50% of what students pay Groupon - it's totally unsustainable.

after( full )zus and tax, how much is left from your 50 zl? 35, 30?

It's pretty unlikely that language schools will be paying ZUS.

Life / How popular is Radio Maryja in Poland? [163]

The same happened with our donation to that gril on PM. Do I go about accusing people? Yet I have donated money.

Ironside, hasn't that thing been sorted out? I wasn't following it...

Anybody who wanted those money back could get them back, stop slandering people!

Could they? As I recall, the money was lost. Lux Veritas didn't have the money to give back, or at least so they claimed. The fact that they don't have to open their books for inspection means that the money could easily have been lost in the purchase of a new car, or helicopter, or or..

I think that you concern yourself too much with other people money, it is unhealthy habit.

When it involves poor and vulnerable people, I think we've got a duty to look after them.

Life / How popular is Radio Maryja in Poland? [163]

In case of RM there it is clearly say that such monies are freely a donation.

Except it wasn't. The money that we're talking about was supposed to be used to "save the shipyards" - the shipyards never saw a grosz of it.

The privatisation voucher has been explained 100 times over but obviously people like you know better if you have any evidence come forward otherwise you should be charged for spreading malicious lies and slander!

Explained? How can you honestly defend an institution that tricked poor, badly educated people out of their share to enrich the few?

Not for long it seems, you must be overjoyed.

The only reason for TV Trwam to stop broadcasting is because they haven't got the cash. Or can you explain who intends to stop them broadcasting?

And you are lying pest!

What did those people get for their privatisation vouchers? Nothing.

Law / Real wages drop in Poland [28]

Throw in some private lessons and things are just fine here in Gdansk. >5000zl a month. And my monthly expenses are way less than Bieganski's 2500-2800 zl a month.

But you see, you're actually living here and being professional - which is why it's no problem for you to get that kind of money.

Always thought the biggest problem for natives was just that - being professional. Which reminds me, I need to write/post a job advert :/

Strange that you're avoiding the issue of the exploitation of the elderly and vulnerable by Rydzyk, isn't it Bob?

Law / Real wages drop in Poland [28]

It sounds like Warsaw must be totally different than the rest of Poland (talking wages, of course)

Depends. You can still clear 5000zl+ a month in Poznan if you put the effort in, but you'll never get that from working for only one or two schools. Or you can work for an international school...

Life / How popular is Radio Maryja in Poland? [163]

Maybe he doesn't like to see the vulnerable being cheated out of money they can simply not afford to lose? I can't and that is one of the reasons that I have such distaste for RM and Father Director.

Pretty much. It's one thing when some fools get cheated by Amber Gold, but Rydzyk is preying on the poorest, least educated in society. The scandal of the privatisation vouchers should have put him in prison for a long time.

ARE YOU for freedom of speech and diversity in mass media or not?

Sure. That's why TV Trwam still broadcasts freely in Poland.

News / Kaczorowski should be reburied at Wawel [15]

the London government was the real government of Poland for Polish people

Hardly. It split into two factions at one point, and had very little credibility apart from in a symbolic sense. In terms of what they were doing, they were behaving as if Poland was still theirs - which was nonsense. They also didn't help themselves by having the government in London rather than in Washington.

Therefore President Kaczorowski was a very important figure and should be buried in Wawel. Actually the room where President Kaczynski
is buried should be converted to 'Smolensk room' and all victims of Smolensk murder should be buried there. It will happen.

It certainly will not happen, not least because any concept of turning it into a Smolensk room would result in total revolt and split the Church.

As for Koczorowski - no. He was even more minor than Kaczynski. The right place for him is where he is now.

Law / Real wages drop in Poland [28]

Has anyone on PF personally discerned the wage drop or is it still too small to be felt by family budgets?

Not me, mine went up by 8% roughly and with the prospect of even more, but I took a 4 day week instead as I've gone back to study more and would like a day off sometime.

Very doubtful. Let's look at some independent facts:

Let's consider that you have no idea what I actually do :) Here's a hint - it's not "TEFL".

Then again, what would a career Anglo-centric basement dweller know?

History / Polish relation about Russians, Ukrainians? [281]

The Russians offered parliamentary stability? Yeah if you call having their guys in parliament 'parliamentary stability.'

Sure, they offered it. It's about the only thing that can be seen as a positive (if you bear in mind the chaos and unstability that Europe suffered in the 1920's and 1930's with parliamentary stability).

The methods used to achieve it were not quite so positive, however.

It would be an intersting scenario, of course, but in this case why didn`t they drop a few bombs on Moscow?

Because it suited the interests of the USA to have the Soviet Union share the burden of guaranteeing peace.

History / Polish relation about Russians, Ukrainians? [281]

Nothing, because America would drop a couple of bombs on Berlin and all would be over.

No-one in their right mind can credit the Soviet Union with anything towards Poland in WW2, except perhaps ensuring parliamentary stability after the war.

History / Polish relation about Russians, Ukrainians? [281]

Polish – Czech (9.32)
Polish – Slovak (11.99)
Polish – Sorbian (15.60)

Yet - funnily enough - to my ears, Slovak and Sorbian are easily understood, but Czech is much harder. Even in reading - Sorbian is much easier than Czech.

USA, Canada / Getting a VISA to USA by a Polish person nowadays [339]

Poland's unemployment rate as of September 2012 was 12.4%, or roughly 5 million people. Are you saying that if another 3 million unemployed people left Poland to live elsewhere, Poland would gladly pack their bags because it will lower the unemployment rate?

Yes. Especially in economically deprived areas - places like Walbrzych would benefit incredibly from the reduction of the burden on social services.

Surely Montenegrin and Bosnian are higher on the list, too?

Life / Catholic "Telewizja Trwam" from Poland - your thoughts? [98]

But they would have greater access with the digital multiplex slot

Irrelevant. All the whining and complaining about the Government restricting them is rubbish - the status quo has not changed. They are still available, as ever, on cable and satellite.

Slots have been accorded to unknown, unprepared, fly-by-night outfits, and, when they couldn't afford the fee the Broadcast Authority bent oiver backwards and even agreed to break it down into instalments.

So why doesn't Rydzyk reveal the reasons why they refused Trwam, then? What's in the letter from the broadcasting authorities that he doesn't want people to know?

The bottom line is that the ruling clique is using every legal ruse they can find to defend the monopollstic status of the mainstream leftist-liberal media.

No no. The real bottom line is that Rydzyk has manipulated his followers - again. Why aren't they asking Rydzyk to reveal the reasons for refusal? Why does he refuse to tell? What's he hiding?

Is this not a rehash of the old Stalinist tactic

How can we know if Rydzyk refuses to reveal the reason for refusal?

Why won't Rydzyk reveal the letter from the authorities that state the reasons for refusal? Why?

Whats interesting is that these idiots don't even realise that nothing has changed for Trwam, they can still broadcast freely on cable and satellite, just like now.

Life / How popular is Radio Maryja in Poland? [163]

or to other forms of thought-control

Anyone with half a brain can see that Radio Maryja has actually been guilty of practicing this to a massive degree. In fact, the brainwashing of the listeners to the point where they physically attack their "adversaries" is quite, quite frightening.

Apart from its religious programming, RADIO MARYJA defends the rights of the unborn, defends the presence of the Cross in public places, defends Christian morality, defends the dignity of the family, defends the sacredness of children and youth, defends the Gdansk shipyard, and defends various institutions against licentiousness and destruction.

Could you explain why a religious radio station is "defending the Gdansk Shipyard"?

Oh yes. The same radio station also collected money for the shipyard, money that mysteriously went missing...

The truth about Radio Maryja is that it's made Father Rydzyk a very rich man.

News / More punch-UPS ON 11th NOV in Poland? [56]

Most modern politicians, Komorowski being the prime example, are just suckups who made it big in their party

How many times have you been imprisoned for your political beliefs? Komorowski was. And you?

and Komorowski siting on the chair already, and people still in the state of shock

People were not in a state of shock by the time the election came around.

OH BOY WHAT TALENT AND HARD WORK THAT WAS TO REACH THIS POSITION NOW I'M JUST GOING TO SIT HERE NOT EVEN PROPERLY LISTENING TO WHAT THE OTHERS SAY BECAUSE MY PRESENCE IS ENOUGH TO GET ME PAID.

Given that Komorowski has been very proactive in proposing (and rejecting) legislation, your ALL CAPS point is moot. Incidentally, there's not much he can do as a ceremonial head of state. Read the constitutional recently, have we?

You know what? Kaczynski, while I may disagre with him in many points, was in the whole thing because he wanted to do politics, not just get paid for doing nothing.

Kaczynski was in it because his brother told him to.

USA, Canada / Getting a VISA to USA by a Polish person nowadays [339]

The Euro zone wants cheap labor for themselves. So they tell the US no visa's for East Block.

Except that Lithuania, Latvia, Slovakia, Estonia, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovenia all have access to the visa waiver scheme.

Could you at least perhaps try to be a little bit more informed about Europe in the future?

News / Lech Walesa is not a democrat and this statement proves it. [24]

Still waiting for you to post proof of that.

You'll be waiting a long time, especially as the IPN has declared that he is innocent. Then again, our traitorous friend knows best - he was busy taking part in plans to destroy Poland while Walesa was saving Poland.

Travel / Is there a healthy expats scene in Poland? (drinks, food, golf, etc.) [143]

people want to live in a safe environment and gated communities provide this

Except they aren't safe - there was a very interesting example in Poznan where a security guard was setting cars on fire. Given the muppets that tend to "guard" such areas - they really aren't much use at all.

lots of these gated communities are on the outskirts of the main city ..... in the suburbs and not in centre of the city.

Which is even more ridiculous. These places are totally soulless and impersonal - but then again, one could argue that it's what they're used to.

Personally I can't see much wrong with gated communities

They simply aren't organic - they're artificial and dreadful places to live. Then there's the issue of false security - I'm pretty certain 2000zl in a brown envelope would get you as much access as you want to your average osiedle.

News / Polish bishop caught with 2,5 promille [45]

Most of these people you claim to know are not real.

Tell you what, come to Poznan. We can meet all the people I've mentioned, and we can place 100zl on each person existing or not existing.

Then again, what would you know, Canuck?

You and harry are the ones who sneer at poland/poles/polonia.

Yes yes. How many times have you posted offensive stuff about Poles being this and Poles being that? Countless times.

Get off the forum, move outside of your anglo circle of friends and just ask some middle aged+ Poles, they'll tell you.

Ironside's been out of Poland for countless years, so it would seem that he has real first hand knowledge - unlike you. I mean, the rantings of a deranged peasant Babcia are not to be relied on.
