Well, you are so close. Praying is a part of what they are doing.
I kept coming across ' cerkiew' instead of 'kościół '.
Before WW2 the Orthodox religion was widespread in the area. After the war, it was decided that Poland would become a homogenous country and most Orthodox inhabitants either left on their own or were resettled to finish their aid to partisan Ukrainian nationalists.

So I was quite close when I said a few dozen after you said thousands. :):)
But I still meant sth else. Your 167 pages show all towers, even those traditional ones, while I meant "tower" as a high rise building with residents/businesses. Sorry, I probably was too succinct.
