Life / Have you wonder how to recognise a Polish person on the street? [21]

That article is neither informative nor funny.

I second that.

Well, just read "How to tell if somebody is Polish".

If you value your time DON'T read it. I did and it was waste of my time.

He didn't seem to be mocking Poles imo.

That's not the point here. There is no value in this "article" and the author is wrong on few accounts, starting with his/her assumption that "kurwa" or "kurva" is used only in Polish. This word with same meaning is used in quite few other Slavic languages and even in Hungarian. Also, super silly sentence "Good people don't use word "kurwa".Well,it's like saying that good people never say "F u c k". I really don't know what the author is trying to say.Am I a "bad" person because I happen to say "Kurwa" occasionally when I am upset?Well,I don't aspire to be a "good" person (whatever it means!) but I am most certainly not a "bad" one either. Is the author 6 years old? That would explain his nomenclature because last time I heard someone talking this way it was my ex wife lecturing her 6 y/o son that only BAD boys use profanities but GOOD boys don't.(On a side note when she was ******* f u c k s" were flying in every direction).

Off-Topic / ING Bank and PROGRESSIVE Insurance [6]

I already received reply from Progressive. This is what they are saying:
" Dear XXX

Thank you for taking the time to write to us. We listen carefully to the feedback we receive and consider it as we make decisions about advertising.

We use technology to help control where our ads appear, but because the online space is so large and is always changing, occasionally our ads appear on Web sites that we don't want or need. That is what happened in this instance. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. Please know that we do not plan to advertise on this site in the future. It may take several days before the exclusion is updated on our advertising partners' servers.

Sincerely,"
Seriously guys, it took me like 4 minutes to write them an email and I believe if they received more emails like mine they would stop paying Schlussel. Now I am waiting for response from ING.

Genealogy / Who are the Poles? Balts, Germanics, or Sarmo-Sycthians? [19]

Hmm..she is over 18-why hasn't she tried to change her citizenship if her parents love Lithuania so much

Why?Many people have dual or even multiple citizenships.

I would feel like I was blasted back to stone age. I would have a lot of adjustment to live in EU. It is why the thought I MIGHT move there in 5-6 years has me prepping my psyche now.

Don't move, you wil be shocked and you may never recover.

2 bathrooms a must

This will be a problem.

And I love the luxury of fridge and freezer

You can ship your fridge and freezer from the US. Plenty of Americans do that when they moving to Eastern Europe.

Off-Topic / ING Bank and PROGRESSIVE Insurance [6]

If you are concerned with a good name of Poland and Polish nation please don't do any business with the following companies ING Bank and PROGRESSIVE Insurance as these companies are sponsors of the web site of well know hater of Poland and Polish people. I already emailed both mentioned companies about my concerns and even cancelled my car insurance policy with PROGRESSIVE.

Ps.Thanks mod/mods.

I am talking about web site of Debbie Schlussel. Can't believe I didn't mention it in the opening post. My apologies!

USA, Canada / Why do Americans (and Canadians) hate Polish people? [226]

This is a weird question and I've seen it before worded

It is badly worded question.I only received some hate from (TWO) American Jews.I think despise would be right word or look down.

Law / Bank accounts taxed by up to 10%. Can it happen in Poland? [150]

nobody knew a risky investment until it was to late, and obviously not even the risk takers (banks) themselves.

So you are saying that their (banks) management boards are comprised of retards playing with hundreds of billions but not knowing what they are doing?Like drunk children in the mist, yes?

Bollocks my friend.I still well remember a guy on TV in late 2007 talking about subprime mortgages bubble and predicting a crash. They all knew my friend but they were greedy, very greedy.

Polonia / Polish people working in Germany after studying in Poland, what salary do you get? [6]

Lyzko,Lyzko you and your stories. Here:from assembly worker to plant manager (highest position in company available to non family members) in 4 (!) years. He later quit because he wanted to become company chairman but this position was/is reserved for members of Auswarter family only.

USA, Canada / Why do Americans (and Canadians) hate Polish people? [226]

I suspect I am quite a bit older than you and I have never in my life heard a joke about a Polish tragedy, in America or anywhere else, ever.

Just check comments on Yahoo next time after some plane, bus, train crash in Poland or when some natural disaster happen in PL.

History / For what the Germans owe Poland one trillion U.S. dollars? [299]

It's silly to argue that a third party (Germany) should compensate the victim (Poland) of someones crime (Russia).

In 1945 Germany had as much to say as a Jew during German occupation of Poland. And be thankful to Soviets that they managed to finish you before Americans got THE BOMB.

News / Poland Unemployment: Nobody protests, because people are leaving [30]

Nobody protests, because people are leaving.

Finally you got something right.

But Poland remains one of the quietest countries in the region.

It's boiling under the surface and hopefully someday soon it will explode.

The unemployment rate in Spain for University grads is 70%,

Yet,we don't see Spaniards picking strawberries in Poland. The fact is that it's better to be unemployed in Spain than employed full time in PL.Sad but true.

Well we will see what's will happen on 03/23.I am really hoping to see a revolt Iranian style with people's tribunals giving justice to traitors. And if we win, foreigners with their markets and banks OUT!

Real Estate / The current property boom in Poland is a bubble [342]

You must not be aware of Poles refusing to lower their real estate prices, even though they're loosing money..

Which Poles exactly? It didn't cross your mind that maybe they would be losing money if they lowered prices? What you don't factor in your theory is that is not as easy in Poland to walk away from debt/declare bankruptcy as it is in the US.You made a broad statement about 38 Million of people and this as stupid as for example saying (what I often hear) "Poles are hard workers".I am not a "hard worker" yet I am Polish.

Language / jeśli OR jeżeli [13]

Ok,I just looked it up and here's what I found."In the United States, though, farther is more often used to refer to physical distances, and further more often refers to figurative and nonphysical distances. For example, we might say that one mountain is farther away than another, while we might say the price of a stock (a nonphysical thing) fell further today than yesterday. This is not a rule, however, and further is often used for physical distances"

I live in the US so excuse me but no difference to me!
