Life / Our Mothers, Our Fathers on Polish TV? [19]

Who needs to watch TV Trwam/Radio Maryja when there are comprehensive sources available that detail exactly what and when was said?

Life / Our Mothers, Our Fathers on Polish TV? [19]

I'd be willing to bet that 99% of people claiming there to be lies haven't watched the programme.

Nice to see TVP showing a bit more balance these days.

News / PO-PiS again neck and neck [248]

Now there's a question I'd like to see answered; perhaps we should go halves on the $15 needed?

Surely he's willing to explain the story to us without payment!

Fine paid by Anna Sobecka, illegally.

Amazing what people will do when blinded by propaganda.

News / PO-PiS again neck and neck [248]

Blaming a dead woman for a convicted criminal not being able to explain what he's done with money that was collected for shipyards, good to see you're staying classy.

Perhaps Polonius would like to explain the story here to those of us unfamiliar with why he's blaming a dead woman.

News / PO-PiS again neck and neck [248]

I wonder how long we'll wait for an answer to that question. I guess we'll be waiting as long as we have been for an answer from Polonius about where Father Maybach put the cash he was supposedly collecting for the shipyards.

I wonder why Radio Maryja doesn't tell the truth about that cash. I mean, if they really tell the truth as claimed, they would tell the truth about everything, right?

On the plus side, at least Father Maybach's empire is firmly behind PiS: that support gets the other parties far more votes than it gets PiS and pretty much ensures that PiS will never again be part of any Polish government.

Indeed. All one has to do is remind others what happened last time.

So they say.

Are the books publicly available so that their claim can be verified?

News / PO-PiS again neck and neck [248]

Great, so perhaps it can tell us why TV Trwam's application for a space on the digital multiplex was rejected (official reason) and where the funding for TV Trwam comes from.

They tell the truth, don't they?

They could publish the letter from the KRRiT tomorrow.

Life / Etiquette in a Store and Market Queues in Poland [146]

To me Poland seems MUCH more in order than my country(Albania) and my wife points that out everytime we go there

I was in Albania, the general chaos was very amusing! Shkodra was a nice place though - very, very, very friendly people.

What part for sending kind to aggravate older women you don't understands. kid had no place in there.

Ironside, the kid wasn't a kid, he was about 12-13 and more than able to make his mind up about politics. I was deeply into politics at that age, as were some of my peers.

As for him being vulgar.

He wasn't vulgar. He was actually very polite.

I read reports from there and I have no reason to not believe them.

In other words, reports from some people are more important in your eyes than the video of them screaming abuse at priests and so on?

I saw it with my own eyes Ironside. There were some people possessed with hatred, and others who had absolutely no idea why they were there. I saw the saddest thing there - an old man, clearly clueless about what was going on, with a rosary praying. He didn't know why he was there or what he was "defending".

I don't know what you are talking about?

Take Poland. The actions of a vocal minority that shout about TV Trwam and so on are not supported by other Catholics. I know many Catholics that consider Rydzyk to be the Antichrist for his behaviour - and consider his actions to be nothing short of immoral. Others regard him as being a source of truth and justice.

There were no need to aggravate those people which was done by so called President and mass media. With help of some leftist thugs.

See Ironside, unlike you, I was there. I saw thugs 'defending' the cross with violence, I saw one woman physically attack a child because he eloquently told her that he didn't agree with her hatred and so on. Trying to claim that "leftist thugs" were involved with the abuse towards people and the Church on that occasion is nothing short of lying.

Do not about attacks on the Church - criticizing some priest or other is not attack on the Church as much as you would like it to be.

It wasn't criticism, it was an attack on the those priests involved. Do you need to be reminded how they were screamed at and told that they were Jewish and so on?

Traditions are often considered as unquestionable truth.

And yet they can be changed. The Second Vatican Council showed that in modern times.

However neutral state can be achieved with the laws based on Christan morality.

The problem is that Christians themselves don't agree on what is "moral".

How many times have we seen attacks on the Church by people who proclaimed themselves to be Catholics? I seem to remember some absolutely hideous abuse handed out to those that tried to remove the cross in Warsaw. Don't you remember?

News / Anti-atheisation institute in Poland emerging [110]

There are plenty of effective anti-Catholic entities that need not call themselves institutes: Wyborcza, TVN, Palikot, SLD, arrogant academics, writers, entertainers, advertisers, etc. who think it's 'cool' to ride rough-shod over people's relgious sensibilties.

Not one of those groups can be called anti-Catholic. As for religious sensitivities - let me remind you that much of the hatred towards those groups is not about religion, but rather that they aren't favoured by the Dear Leader.

And, yes, people from Poland B (as some like to call it) that have moved to the city and been brainwashed into believing they must turn their back on God and His Church to advance their careers, gain acceptance and be popular.

No-one is asking anyone to turn their back. But in a modern society, placing the Church on a pedestal and above question doesn't work.

Perhaps you should listen to Pope Francis more often.

Does Jaroslaw Kaczynski really not realise the harm he does to PiS by turning up at these things?

Anti-Atheisaiton Institue

Wouldn't it be better to work on the reasons why people are falling away from the Church rather than trying to fight them?

Jarosław Kaczyński, who adressed the gathering, said the Church was now under greater attack than any time since the communist regime collapsed.

For once, he speaks the truth. And it's all their own fault.

Law / trying to leave Poland with a traffic ticket [8]

I wouldn't dare - I know that they used to pull people (pre-Schengen) for things like this on the land border, so it stands to reason that they would do it on the air border.

I doubt he'll have any problems if he just goes to the police station and asks to sort it out - a bigger fine, but no problems as such.

So why don't other Poles complain about such behavior? I have rarely heard anyone chastise such inconsiderate behavior

Communism. People kept themselves to themselves.

Driving must shorten Polish citizens life expectancy every time they turn the ignition key. The kur*a monster is born.

I dunno, I like it. But this is probably more to do with not having to worry about speed cameras and so on.

History / What do Poles owe to Russians? [193]

Muslims, Jews, and gays are NOT WELCOME!!! Please don't bother and stay where you are!

Another one who probably has a Jewish grandmother and thinks too much about gay sex, I see.

Travel / Car insurance (drive) between UK and Warsaw? [3]

Insurance in one EU country is automatically valid in all the other EU countries. However, you may only have the minimum cover required by law depending on your insurance policy.

Law / trying to leave Poland with a traffic ticket [8]

Yes. There's a high chance that you've been taken to court in absentia for not paying the ticket and there might very well be a warrant out for your arrest.

Go to the police station and sort it out.

Off-Topic / Modern parenting = bad parenting? [20]

It's easy enough to suggest those with young children should be treated as pariahs if you don't have children yourself.

Standards for good behaviour are universal.

Study / Vistula University in Poland. Any experience? Any student? [57]

all of them are not bad schools

They certainly are bad when it comes to employment with any large company.

I know at least three large companies in Poznan with explicit "no private university" rules.

yeah, like if they had a league then it could actually produce revenue.

I'm surprised no-one has started some sort of hooligan MMA league - like those Toughman contests in the USA!

News / Footie hooligan punch-up thwarted in Poland [47]

1. I hardly ever hear in the news about tragedies happened during such fights,

Do you really think that your average hooligan is going to admit having received a beating?

2. Most of them are adults and despite common view most of them have job so they are forced by state to pay for health insurance, i don't know why would they have to buy additional private insurance.

Their contributions to health insurance will be minimal compared to the costs of treating them.
