EMPIRE STATE BUILDING IN NYC DISRESPECTS POLISH AMERICANS! [88]
Poles and Germans fighting together, side by side, to free and build the US...what a story!
Indeed!
Pulaski is one of only seven peopleto be awarded honorary United States citizenship.
Cool.
His first military engagement against the British was on September 11, 1777, at the Battle of Brandywine.
Down the road about 10 miles from where I am right now. They say you could hear the cannon fire from here.
In Washington, DC, there is a park dedicated to Pulaski located on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, between 13th and 14th streets. In addition to a statue of Pulaski, the park also houses Freedom Plaza.
Been there. Most recently, just last year.

About 20 miles from here is a park called Valley Forge National Historical Park. Every school kid here knows of it as where Washington encamped the Continental Army through a brutal winter that nearly wiped them out. Pulaski was there too. It's also where Von Steuben worked his military magic on them.
Anyway, nearby is a township (I think I mentioned this to you before) called
King of Prussia. Today one of our biggest shopping malls is there. The township gets its name from an old tavern and inn that served as a military meeting place during that time (lots of old stories about American officers and enemy spies getting them drunk to loosen their lips).
No one is really sure just how the place got its seemingly odd and misplaced name. I wonder if it had something to do with Von Steuben hanging around that area? I think it must have, although the Wiki doesn't mention any such connection nor have I ever heard this theory asserted.
