Love / THE POLISH DISEASE, wanna marry a Polish girl ? read on... [197]

In my personal experiences, most of the girls HERE are exactly what you have desribed, not those of other nationalities.

I'd agree with this.

LOL, actually, yes, it is -- but that's just a coincidence!

LMAO!... :D

Love / Filipina married a Polish man, need more advice [90]

she's naive

she didnt want kids

Apparently she doesn't know how to avoid getting knocked up, either.

I'm guessing OP is pretty young. Too young to handle all this with the necessary maturity of an adult...

News / Smoking ban in Polish bars and restaurants (AT LAST!) [400]

A downside of the ban is that in the UK, it has more or less destroyed traditional pub culture, with bars closing down at a shocking rate.

other downsides include cigarette butts littering the streets and an increase of drunken noisy people outside the pubs instead of inside where they belong

These are the unforeseen consequences of nannying regulations.
The free market should be permitted to decide this.

i love it! i quit smoking a few weeks ago and it's soooo much easier while not being around smokers in a bar...
so yay!

So it's ok to restrict others' freedoms just because of your own personal interests? Seems kinda selfish. And did you smoke in bars when you were still smoking? If so, this would make you a hypocrite...

News / Smoking ban in Polish bars and restaurants (AT LAST!) [400]

Comrade, we must now fight for an alcohol ban so that workers may live even happier and healthier lives!

That's about right, comrade. They just can't leave others alone.

I have noticed that if there are two bars next to each other - one smoking allowed one not, the smoking bar is always busier.

That's the free market at work, as it should be. But nannying Leftists don't want the free market to decide when they can decide for everyone...

News / Human Trafficking in and from Poland [80]

the alleged praise of socialism in my post

Well, generally after a Leftie whines about the cost of student loans for higher education this is followed by calls to chnage this and have the government pay for higher education, as it does in some Lib socialist places.

Besides, to call the wide availability of student loans which have permitted many to attend college who otherwise may not have been able to "human trafficking" is just silly. But some people are never satisfied...

Watch this film

Good movie about a horrible topic.
And real life often doesn't have happy endings:

a grim statistic: if a victim is not rescued within 96 hours, chances are she will never be found.

Love / Polish Girl Doesn't Want To Touch. [240]

I learn it too, don't do so much for someone who doesn't even care about you, bad idea!

The truth is, if someone just doesn't care about another there is nothing that will change this, no matter what the other does.

News / Human Trafficking in and from Poland [80]

Reduced demand (with even prison as a punishment ) proved to be really bad for the street prostitution

Basic economics tells us that in order to reduce the profitability -and therefore the appeal- we need to reduce either the supply or the demand.

minority is in that because they really like their jobs ....

Their life stories are really sad.

This is true too. Some poor girls see no other place to turn. And we haven't even gotten into where families sell their daughters into this terrible trade...

News / Human Trafficking in and from Poland [80]

It is more difficult to generate sympathy for girls who knowingly and willingly go into prostitution.
The real offense is these front companies that run 'placement services' promising young Eastern girls jobs and a new life in a new land only to end up taking them prisoner and forcing them into brutal sexual slavery.

I saw a movie about this a few years ago -a kind of mocumentary retelling of a true story- and it truly moved me to tears. And it takes a lot to get to me.

I always tell girls looking at such services in hope of a better life to be very, very careful.

The uncivilized scum who run these businesses need to be killed when caught.
This is one place (only?) that the Muslim nations have it all over us. Crime in those places is virtually non-existent because of their societal intolerance for it and the severe punishments they dole out are the deterrent. We need to be more like them when it comes to this stuff especially.

There are thousands of such heartbreaking tales. The problem is the demand, the Johns who create the demand and pay the money for what is essentially rape. When caught and arrested the punishment needs to be severe and permanent. This surely would deter these perverts and go a long way to curbing this atrocity of a business.

USA, Canada / EMPIRE STATE BUILDING IN NYC DISRESPECTS POLISH AMERICANS! [88]

Off topic comment removed

It is important here to note the distinction between public and private commemoration.
Many groups and individuals have been officially recognised by our government at all levels, from Federal down to local. America has been very good at honoring foreigners who aided us in our time of need and showing appreciation for their efforts to help secure our independence -as all the monuments and naming of places and things in their honor attests.

Whereas the Empire State Building is a privately owned entity and as such they are free to honor or not whoever they so choose... as well they are free to exercise their apparent biases in doing so.

Poles and Germans fighting together, side by side, to free and build the US...what a story!

Indeed!

Pulaski is one of only seven peopleto be awarded honorary United States citizenship.

Cool.

His first military engagement against the British was on September 11, 1777, at the Battle of Brandywine.

Down the road about 10 miles from where I am right now. They say you could hear the cannon fire from here.

In Washington, DC, there is a park dedicated to Pulaski located on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, between 13th and 14th streets. In addition to a statue of Pulaski, the park also houses Freedom Plaza.

Been there. Most recently, just last year.

Germans fighting together, side by side, to free and build the US

About 20 miles from here is a park called Valley Forge National Historical Park. Every school kid here knows of it as where Washington encamped the Continental Army through a brutal winter that nearly wiped them out. Pulaski was there too. It's also where Von Steuben worked his military magic on them.

Anyway, nearby is a township (I think I mentioned this to you before) called King of Prussia. Today one of our biggest shopping malls is there. The township gets its name from an old tavern and inn that served as a military meeting place during that time (lots of old stories about American officers and enemy spies getting them drunk to loosen their lips).

No one is really sure just how the place got its seemingly odd and misplaced name. I wonder if it had something to do with Von Steuben hanging around that area? I think it must have, although the Wiki doesn't mention any such connection nor have I ever heard this theory asserted.

King of Prussia is a ... place in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States. ... The community took its name in the 18th century from a local tavern named "The King of Prussia Inn", which was named after Frederick II, King of Prussia. ... The largest shopping mall in the United States in terms of leasable retail space, the King of Prussia Mall, is located here.

here's a large fort named after him.. with alligators too even.. fitting for the tough bastard Pulaski was..

I was just reading something about this the other day.

Von Steuben

Baron von Steuben was a brilliant military man. He probably helped America become a free nation as much as any historical figure of the period. At a time when our Patriot soldiers were beaten down, demoralized and deserting, and the war was nearly lost, Von Steuben came along and with Prussian military techniques whipped our boys into a renewed and efficient fighting force. Upon seeing this, the Continental Congress was made more willing to reinvest in funding the war effort. But the Frenchman, Lafayette, gets all the good press. He was cool too, but he was no Fred von Steuben. Without Fred's assistance we'd all prolly still be speaking English today...
