Law / Difference between an expat and a immigrant (or permanet resident) in Poland [41]

What does that make me?

It makes you an immigrant, just like this dumb canadian broad. An expat is someone coming to a foraign country for a limited period of time with no intention to seek permanent residency. You are both immigrants, not any different than a Pakistani or an African living in Poland, wheter you like it or not.

USA, Canada / American...Polish Resident...Returning to the land of milk and honey [103]

Hey Grubas you unemployed, where do you live that the economy is so bad?

Millsboro DE,and it's ******* bad here dude,I kidd you not. Some time ago they opened a casino nearby and were hiring 100 or so workers, guess what dude, over 2000 showed up for interviews. Will you belive that? And they pay like $8.50/h,this is roughly 60% of what I used to make not to mention take home work truck, gas card, phone and freedom because nobody was watching me on the job.Heh, 2 weeks ago they were hiring in a food processing plant,so I went there thinking "Ok, if they pay $10/h I will do it".First thing I did I asked the guy conducting interviews what do they pay.He told me $7.25/h.I told him "Sir,you can't be serious".He said he is serious.Dude,I can't afford to work for this kind of money! I got to get the hell out of here because winter is coming and it sure won't get any better.I don't know where to go yet,so I will probably go to Poland for a couple of months just to chill and to decide what to do.

Work / Salary expectations in Poland [373]

As you can read, I do not know so much about the polish labormarket, so I’m only trying to get a feeling with it.

It's all good.If it's gonna make you feel better I can tell you that you wouldn't get the kind of money you expect to in the USA neither.I lately applied for this kind of job (these makalakas didn't even respond!) here and it was paying $12 or $13/h what roughly translates into $28000 a year with no benefits.Welcome to the global economy World!

I had been earning $5K/mo. 12 years ago when I lived in US.

Yeah, I know but it was 12 years ago.I am telling him about now.6 years ago I had an entry level job paying $11/h with no experience whatsover after 1 phone call and 7 minutes interview and now I don't have any after responding to dozens of adds online.I do refuse to work for minimum wage $7.25/h as long as I get unemployment.

Work / Salary expectations in Poland [373]

is the start wage in Denmark, and I was aware to get paid a lot less!

Yeah,I understand that but Poland is not Denmark.I don't know what's the cost of living in Denmark but I would guess that it's way higher then in Poland and one have to take it into account.

But the way.. I’m sorry to read the hard tone from you :)

Don't take it personally,I only judge it from someone's living in the US which is supposedly a rich country, point of view. That's all,a little insight into global economy, you know?

Anyway it seems to be better for you if stay in Denmark and enjoy it because I can bet an arm that nobody in Poland will give you what you expect to get.Peace.

Work / Salary expectations in Poland [373]

It's amazing that someone who's only skill is speaking native language would expect to get paid 4137 USD a month! You must be out of your mind dude.Couple of days ago "Work&Travel" students working at Hershey chocolate plant in Pennsylvania staged a protest demanding to be paid more (thay are paid $8.35/h).Now,check the comments under this news on yahoo. There is plenty of Americans claiming they would be glad to work there for $8.35/h because the job market is so bad.And you have a punk (no offence) who wants to make $50000/year only because he speaks some stupid Danish.Hey,you don't need to pack your luggage,I can tell you that.

I think I know what the job is, and if so - the job is going to pay no more than 2500/net.

Agree. My bro speaks 4 languages and in Poznan he was offered 2700 PLN/month BEFORE TAXES.He asked for 3500 PLN and they never called him back, that means that they found someone to do it for offered 2700PLN.

I also see his point about the difference between 1l and 2l being odd.

Really? What do you people talk about?Ever heard of free market? And there is orange juice and orange juice. In my local Food Lion there is orange juice for $1.49 a litre (you don't want that one) and next to it there is orange juice for $2.99 both the same size. And it's normal that prices for the same thing differ depending on a store.Powerade drink is $1.50 at gas station and the same Powerade is $0.79 in Food Lion. What's new here?Did you come from a country where there is only one brand of mentioned orange juice and there is no choice or what?

Life / Your Polish friends - why do you regard them as such? [41]

Great post (Se)anus!NOT.What else can you tell us, genius? That some Poles smoke pot and some don't,or maybe that some wear red socks but most don't?How long did it take you to figure that out?

I think he was Americanised.

You think?Well, think again genius because guess what, most Americans don't do coke either. And for your information, snorting coke has nothing to do with being "Americanized".You are funny, dude.

UK, Ireland / Is moving to UK now a good idea? - antipolish prejudice of the Brits [231]

Im english and come into contact with around 100 Polish ppl a day. Iv had nothing but hostility and/or ignorance from around 80 percent.

I am not surprised, considering level of hostility toward Poles in the UK ,I can easily understand them.I mean I myself often get fired up just from reading this crap about Poles and I am not even in the UK.

Real Estate / How bad was it? '' a 'luxury' apartment with electricity and heating" [21]

That being said, when I bought an old apartment in the city center, I had to heat it with the fireplace because there was no heat.

I am surprised you had kominek there but you didn't have piec kaflowy???Very, very strange.

The author is not a Polish, that's for sure. The introduction to this textbook is avaliable online,I looked it up and the language used there does not sound natural to me e.g Spotkali się i przywitali się,you don't use się twice in a sentence like this Spotkali się i przywitali is enough.

UK, Ireland / Poles in England / English in Poland crime [25]

It's just I know someone who has done a runner back to Poland for an offense, that's in my eyes minor, but he is scared that the police is coming for him.

If the Brits ask for him, Polish cops will look around and send him to UK if they find him. They do it to Americans wanted by FBI.
