Life / Drivers and Mobile Phones In Poland [14]

It seems that in almost every car I look, the driver is engaged in deep conversation on their phone

I told my boss recently that I'm not going to pick up the phone while driving anymore. Of course he wasn't happy. Result: calls drop (new tasks) 60 percent ;)

Life / Washing machine in the bathroom of Poles [78]

Just doesn't make sense to me to have electrical appliances in close proximity to water.

Some appliances (like water pumps) need to be immersed in water ;)

Did they want their washing machine in the bathroom then?:)

:)
They missed their beauty-appliances badly (hair dryer, hair straightener etc)

Life / Washing machine in the bathroom of Poles [78]

Exactly!. In UK we don't have ordinary electric sockets in bathrooms for obvious reasons.

So how do you charge your laptops or tablets? ;)
I remember, when I arrived in UK for the first time, friends immediately asked me could you help us to instal socket in our bathroom?

We would rather not be bbq'd whilst doing the washing!

In Poland residual-current circuit breakers are mandatory in new buldings and many people install RCDs in older houses even RCD and new cables are quite expensive.

We can only see a quite rich people (in majority) here in northern Poland
so prejudice is they must be criminals or military men on vacation ;)

But we don't think much about them.

Probably yes. Additionally the only job for these who decide to return to homeland will be English language teacher.
So hurry up ;)

Life / Do Polish people know a lot about the world ? [16]

She also knows all the Primark SKU numbers and product location by shelf.

How do they call her? Sale | discount queen, bargain hunter? :)

What is your business where she gets her money from?

They have such thing as fair play. I like it. Haven't you seen these ads in city buses?

Polish women (especially) when they move to a different country put themselves on a high shelf. I think it has a lot to do with the looks (yes, polish women are very attractive and when they leave they notice).

I always knew that western girls are more developed in many fields. I haven't seen any Polish welder girl yet :(

Life / Do Polish people know a lot about the world ? [16]

do polish people know about the world alot?

I think I do. I have shortcut to Google Earth and Panoramio in my AutoStart folder.
So beware of Google cars. Big Brother is watching you ;)

The Polish woman has with her, her baby about 4 years (i think). She also has a friend that comes to visit her many times. They have no jobs from what i can see. How can they live from the British Social Security money as foreign people?

Just ask them. In Polish it goes skąd bierzecie kasę?

Life / Electrical wiring in Poland - color codes [23]

If you aren't sure don't connect any wire to the green/yellow wire on your lamp. Just connect live (brown) and neutral (blue) wires.

Life / Living Costs and life in Poznan? [70]

Is it regarded as a nice city to live in?

definitely yes

Is the 2800 net zloty an ok salary to work for and have a good life there

unfortunately not

As for housing, I expect to pay something between 1100 to 1500 zloty furnished. Is this an ok estimate?

2800-1500=1300/30=44zl per day (20zł is minimum)

So if you really have no clue about the major differences, please stay away. The grammar is very precise here.

Become member and don't build funny constructions never used in colloquial language.

News / Poland's supreme administrative court rules against RHD cars [57]

Basically, can I now register my RHD car, which I've owned for over six years, in Poland?

We hope it will never happen. We want visit UK and buy a cheap, decent car like civilized human.
Not to chase through whole country and find nothing.

Travel / Ideas on what to do in the vicinity of Paslek, Poland this Christmas [8]

I'm not sure if there are closer ski areas, but if there are, then that would be a possible option.

We don't have a lot of hills here. This is land of lakes ;)

UK, Ireland / British - Stupidest nation in Europe [127]

It is due to British education system. Your law allows Brit youth leave school at 16.

Hmm. Do they want dispose them asap?

I don't really care if they are stupid or not. More they are stupid it's better for me.
As an electrician I can even offer a BRP - Bulb Replace Program (training included)
and 24h a day emergency service.

They have brand-new, shiny and modern submarine but I'm curious why they don't care about their houses?

Life / Cheapest car spares in Poland? [23]

but the Lemforder suspension arms are cheaper that the genuine ones

They say Lemforder is the best ;) So who is a OEM supplier now? Moog, Swag, Meyle, TRW? I doubt.

Do VW in Poland have a TPS?

I never heard of them. Autoland and Gordon captured whole market in Olsztyn.

Life / Cheapest car spares in Poland? [23]

Old, second hand cars, put Polish roads in a jam
but every car needs a driver

Older cars are less complicated, reliable and cheaper in servicing.
Majority of us still cannot afford to buy a brand new car and be on mercy of authorized service at least for one year.

Life / Cheapest car spares in Poland? [23]

I have heard that Fords are reasonably priced in their class but spare parts are horrendously pricey. Is that true?

We love Mercedes, Audi, VW, Skoda ;) and buy only well known brand aftermarket parts SKF, Valeo, TRW, ATE, Ruville, Sachs, Lemforder, Delphi etc
