Love / Should a marriage proposal to a partner from Poland be done in private or public? [27]

I personally think this special moment in your life should be just between two of us and not in front of room full of strangers

Hmm, that is his style and be prepared for more. E.g., he will want to spend the first marital night with you on a lovely beach, with a professional orchestra playing relaxing music next to the bed, making the atmosphere even more romantic

News / Should 16-year-olds in Poland vote? [58]

What do you think? Are average 16-year-olds politically sophisticated enough?

Of course not. Voting is the last thing on the priority list of 16 year olds.

And when they introduce internet voting, youngsters will vote the craziest types, just for fun.

Work / Why Poland employers are afraid of hiring any foreign nationals? [171]

I am glad you don't like affirmative action.

Of course, I don`t. You taught me that. I am your most loyal disciple in managing discussions. :):)

Like Muslims when they want special places where they can pray and wash their feet.

We talk about jobs, positions and workplaces. In Poland they are not cult places so Muslims, just like Catholics or Protestants, can`t demand special rights. They can go to sites designated for religious worship like mosques, churches, etc.

How simple! :):)

Language / Sticklers for grammar? [17]

Lyżko, it isn`t nice to abuse people in this way. Watch out, you can get a warning and lose decent posters` respect. And it doesn`t suit a teacher to use such vocabulary.

Ha!

Travel / Poland in photo riddles [3134]

Yes, needlefish. Not bad, though a bit dry. Did you know it has a green spine and bones?

Those dogs shouldn't be in the park because pets are banned from there, or is it something more obscure?

You are a little close with "banned". A little. No, it is nothing obscure, we can clearly see sth really wrong is happening.

Hint: it is connected with the word "green." :):)

Which cuisine is this frozen dish from?

Work / Why Poland employers are afraid of hiring any foreign nationals? [171]

I didn't know you have a right to a job.

No, but you have a right not to be discriminated because of your race, ethnicity, nationality, religion etc etc. Should I teach you about Holy Amendments? :):)

if X can hire Y because he likes Y, X can fire Y because X no longer likes Y.

It depends on the kind of contract you have. Should I teach you that certain contracts require legal reasons for firing sb? Like or dislike isn`t one of them.

No, that was a decent one. I thought you asked: Where is Dworzec Gówny? Where is the Main Station?

Travel / What should I wear in winter in Poland? [29]

What should I wear?

10 - 20 years ago, when I was very slim, I had to put on really warm clothes to survive winters which could be quite severe.

Today, with some fat protective layer on me, and mild winters in Poland for a few years, I wear the same clothes in autumn and winter. I put my old snow boots in the corner of the wardrobe and don`t remember when I used them last time.

Travel / Poland in photo riddles [3134]

but I thought you would play fair.......I was wrong!!!!!!

I was fair! :):)

1. The car is owned by a Polish owner now.
2. FIAT has been the Polish partner in car manufacturing since 1930s.

My guess is that it is a Fiat 850 Coupe Series I.

Yes, like a glove!

Maybe the high school riddles are too difficult

It seems so. Plus males are lazy and prefer women do difficult tasks. I can see it in class every day during the school year. But they still dream about male superiority...... hahaha

Never mind.

something is going on with the building or someone in it?

Nope. Sth else IS HAPPENING which is wrong.

Hint: this is Planty Park near Wawel Castle.

In the meantime:
What is this fish?

Food / Need some Polish dessert recipes [47]

What is the difference between tort and biszkopt?

Tort is an elaborate cake with layers and nice topping. Biszkopt is just one layer.

There are two kinds of biszkopt - without fat and you call it sponge cake and there is such an entry in Eng wiki.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sponge_cake

Apart from that, there is sponge cake with fat, butter or margarine, 25% content, also called sand cake and only in Polish wiki.

pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ciasto_biszkoptowo-t%C5%82uszczowe

Thanks to fat content, this cake is more delicate and fluffier. One can choose either version to make a tort, it depends on you.

USA, Canada / Moving back from Canada to Poland, yes or no? [39]

What is the problem with having a cottage in Canada? I thought Canadians can afford such property more easily than Poles or other Europeans, considering how much free space they have and how much Europeans do.

History / Early begginings of `democracy` and Polish contribution to it [8]

Are you aware of great Polish contribution to beginnings of democracy and modern concept of civilization?

Yes, this good, although only for szchlata, not peasants,

Yes, that is why when talking about Polish contribution to democracy, we need to remember that 1st Commonwealth`s was gentry/nobility democracy and it applied only to 10% population which considered themselves elite. City residents and Jews were excluded, let alone peasants who were considered and treated as savages.

So, Poles can be proud of it but only a little.

Work / Why Poland employers are afraid of hiring any foreign nationals? [171]

Why in Poland, especially in Warsaw usually a polish employee is afraid of hiring any foreign national?

No more in 2019. Polish employees hire foreigners willingly coz economy is thriving, the unemployment is very low and 2 million Poles have left for abroad.

However, there are still cases when some premises issue scandalous ads, like this one in Gdynia where they were looking for a chef except "Ukrainian or another like that" They had to apologise after a huge negative response. And will probably face legal consequences, too.

Language / 'MOZNA' - When is this used? [27]

most of the names of the rivers in Poland are unitelligible to Poles

Now I am thinking about it and you are right. There are only a few exceptions:

Odra River - measles
Wieprz River - hog
Bóbr River - beaver
Kamienna - stone/rocky
Wełna - wool

History / Can Poland allow itself to refuse Slavija? [32]

hypothetical situation Slavic world send call to Poland to become member of /for example/ Slavic Confederation

Such a situation won`t happen cause the Slavic nations which are in the EU/ NATO won`t send such a signal to Poland - they feel good in the EU - Czechia, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Slovenia. Croatia

The rest of Slavic countries which aren`t members of the EU might try to send a signal but they are too weak to convince others - Ukraine, Belarus, Serbia.

The most powerful signal could be sent by the biggest Slavic country - Russia. But it will be ignored for obvious reasons - after Crimea and Donbas, hardly anybody wants to be in Slavic Confederation with Russia.

Life / Do you really have to pay for your dogs to live in Poland [15]

Would this be true that we have to pay to keep our own pets,

The fee is imposed by local councils. The minimum fee in 2019 is 130 zlotys per dog. Some places charge less, e..g, Szczecin - 50 zlotys. Funny but most big cities don`t charge anything - e..g, Warsaw.

More here - and see the cities where keeping the dog is free.

USA, Canada / Beautiful women in Polonia, WI [18]

When a girl has bigger biceps than me shes definetely fat asf.

From many posts in the PF, I presumed you prefer when males and females stick to centuries old traditions. So why are you suddenly going back on your opinions? Traditional symbol of fertility and sex was a fat asf with biceps larger than yours!

:):)
