Love / Polish Girl Doesn't Want To Touch. [240]

I agree, pgtx. Some guys are far too direct but interpreting the signals of women can be hard. Not that I ever tried. This is just on hearsay. The best things come to those who wait :)

How about being aloof to her? That really rubs them up the wrong way :) :) Just shrug or turn your eyebrows up. If they can play the buffoon, then so can you.

UK, Ireland / Polish families' arson drama in London [10]

There's always an 'arse on' the go ;) Seriously though, I hope people realise that innocent victims should not be made to suffer. The feeling of being an innocent victim must be horrific and one that cannot be endured. Help will be on the way I'm sure!

Travel / Wroclaw nightclubs [20]

A pick up and a put down :)

People from Wrocław tend to be happier than here. There is more of a buzz but I guess it's just the big city atmosphere.

Classifieds / English cuisine week in Lidl shops in Poland [203]

Lidl need another cuisine week :) Thai would be nice. They heaped it all into one week by calling it Asian Week. Buggers! How about Jewish Week?

Love / THE POLISH DISEASE, wanna marry a Polish girl ? read on... [197]

It just depends what we have in mind. The Polish staff I work with are not that way as they are educated and fair. But the people who say the worst things about many Poles? Poles themselves.

The hardest thing is the Princess Syndrome. That's sth that's can't be overcome.

Morrissey summed some women up with his comment 'They take what they need and just leave'. I think it was Hand in Glove. He had a few interesting comments :) Or was it 'A Rush and a Push and the Land is Ours'?

stantheman, there is no sense in posting truths as defensive types will either brand you as a troll or as one that exaggerates. Know it for yourself and make mental notes. I personally agree with a lot of what you said as I know such types. In fact, you are incredibly spot on with much of your insight :)

However, it makes the challenge of finding those nice ones all the better. Us, as men, encourage their behaviour by plying them with cash. Know that their humor is short-lived before moving onto the next short-term gratification. The next humph and grumph is just around the corner.

Be yourself and rise above it!!

UK, Ireland / Ed Miliband, new Labour leader, talking about Polish immigrants yesterday [62]

My point was that they were making a mockery of the judicial process by disrespecting it. We all know that politicians have skeletons in the closet and I really don't know if he is innocent or not and, more to the point, I don't pretend to know beyond reasonable doubt.

There was a crackdown on it. The Poles that appeared in the Dominic Lees film testified to its accuracy. It told the tale of a Polish dude that runs a building site and employes Poles on the cheap. I think it's called Highlander. It shows how they cheat one another and also British employers. Trade unions exacerbated it, yes. Truly sad!

Genealogy / The surname "Turek" [11]

I know a Turek here, he's my student. It does mean Turk, yes. It is also a manufacturer of tasty camembert :)

Mud raking is not for choice. People are not squeaky clean in politics, nothing new there. Some Poles just can't leave it alone. Wałęsa has cleared his name on several occasions yet the allegations still fly. It's perpetrated by folk like JK. Is the Poles obsession with the past sth to do with their lack of anything in the present?

Language / usage of taki/taka/takis [11]

Zeti told you how it worked, chaza. Please take heed of that and do your own work from there.

On nie jest taki - he's not like that

Sprawa jest taka - the matter is like this

Poles would like say Ty jesz jak świnia. Tanczysz w ten sposób. You need to look for common uses.

UK, Ireland / Polish eligibility to claim benefits in the UK [30]

She will not get JSA as she needs to be actively looking for employment and furnish evidence of that. She is a coaster, one of the escaper brigade. Leave her to her own devices and cut your losses.

USA, Canada / Moved back from Canada to Poland:). Here are the reasons why. [868]

The worst thing is the stifling aspect. You are in your home country yet feel thwarted by the employment game. You cannot put who you are in check by some git telling you what you can or can't do in the workplace. By a certain age, you should've amassed enough exp to know what you are capable of and where you can take it from there. In GB, they try and squash that. Most seemed jealous when I told them that I had lived in Japan. Like yourself, WB, I made it work in another country and those parochial/provincial dic*s just can't get out of their rut. OK, Poles don't always stick to their uni education but at least they shake it up and are prepared to get their hands dirty. Brits are stuck in their routines. Shallow feckers that never change. Poland will step in that Porsche and drive right on by. Stagnant British losers!!

USA, Canada / Moved back from Canada to Poland:). Here are the reasons why. [868]

It's always tricky at the beginning but settling comes about in different ways. The key is just to accept and roll with it. When I went back to Scotland, I wasn't happy for much the same reasons that WB wasn't happy about life in England. You impose an idealistic vision that doesn't square with reality, rather than just getting on with it as who you are. I'm sure you don't expect a bed of roses so should be fine. Good luck!!

Love / Polish Girl Doesn't Want To Touch. [240]

Popcorn, don't fall into the trap of clinging to false hope because she is extremely pretty. Unfortunately, life deals out bummer situations. Personally, I'd far rather have a pretty girl that was normal. Choose your country. Almost everywhere you go, the top ones are either narcissists or have major complexes in one form or another.

Nah, Pete, I just never needed to resort to that like some ;) ;)

I've had GFs most of the time so don't need to go to bars and play the fool.

Love / Polish Girl Doesn't Want To Touch. [240]

Popcorn, the tipsy idea was to see if she'd make a move, not you. I would never ply a girl with drink in order to get closer to her. She should take some initiative if she wants to.

Love / Unmarried couples in Poland = pathology [310]

Davie, I see his point. Although it's more complicated than that, many divorces are betrayals. It shouldn't be a pick&mix thing, though people always have their choices. The standard is hard to meet but people are weak to that extent that they cannot make it work. Marriage shouldn't fall apart to the extent that it does. Fallibility shines through.
