Life / Bugs in Polish houses and apartments [78]

What about fat fleas in British houses?
Hidden deeply in old and stinking mattresses?
Who jumps sometimes form one dirty pillow to second?
No photos?
What a pity.

News / Palikot - too liberal/modern for Poland? [197]

He is very intelligent but not too consequent. He should have a good plan for his meaning in politics.
I didn't know he was a philosopher.
Sometimes his performances on TV look like "art for art" unfortunately.
It can be a problem for him if he is planning to be somebody who has aspirations of being important and respectful.

Language / WHAT CASE DOES BŁOGOSŁAWIĆ TAKE? [6]

błogosławię (co?) ten dom
błogosławię (czemu?) temu domowi

This is a faint nuance. Your question is difficult actually.
Both are correct however the second one is rarely used today and having its derivation in oldfashioned Polish language.

Language / The differences between rozumiem and pojmuje? [12]

Specific explanation?
"rozumieć": - to understand
"pojmować" - connected with a concept/idea/notion: so: I know how to solve it..., I catch it, I see, I now what you mean..., etc

"Rozumiem o czym mówisz": I understand what you're talking about.
"Pojmuję to ćwiczenie" used rarely today: "I understand an idea of how this exercise is made and what to do with it.

Life / An ill doctor works in ambulance (Lublin). [6]

This man has epilepsy and takes medicines. It causes a contact with him is often almost imposible.
He sometimes doesn't know where he is going to and which hospitals they are heading for. A director of the hospital turns a blind eye to a doctor who still works but fired a taxidriver who informed media.

The situation will be in question by NFZ soon.
Isn't it a bit shocking? If so, for who? The doctor, patients, director of the hospital? For these ones who didn't say a word about it and hid the truth about this guy health's condition?

How is it possible that a man who is under pills that causes he is dazed can perform his duties and takes responsibility for peoples's life and health?

It is difficult to understand for me and a bit frustrating.
Do you have any ponderings?

History / Battle of Wizna, WWII invasion. [13]

Ironside
Maybe nobody is interested.

Hrrr....Maybe. But I see that at least few are interested. Besides, maybe should you start a thread about Jews and wait how people will be buzzing about it?

Pawian
What is the sense in developing threads which one day will land in archives and will be closed for ever?

Waiting for this how threads will be archived looks a bit helpless.

History / Battle of Wizna, WWII invasion. [13]

It's a pity, that nobody continues this topic.

Battle of Wizna was finished when germans won a last bunker there. Hurricane attacks of artylery, bombardments, charges of two german divisions preceded the end of the battle. After it cpt Raginis killed himself. He hasn't abandoned his position.

News / Polish leader urges EU to keep generous aid funds [32]

David_18
Should EU continue to keep generous aid funds to Poland?

I notice that you are too brave and not humble enough with "politically failed" questions.

Crow
mistake

Agreed.

News / Global politics and consequences for Poland; Would you like to know more? [24]

It's not exactly the aspect of global politics.
Maybe, from some point of view.
It will sound a bit strange, because it's not connected with business, but if I were a Polish politic, I would observe foreign politics's body language during official meetings.

They are convinced and sure of decisions they make.
Even if they might be wrong, gesture of their hands and all body say: "it's fine", "we are right" or: "we will discuss" or "somebody else will take responsibility for a decision we make or will make or a decision that may/might/will be made.

This is actually often forgotten aspect of politics: The way how people, who are responsible for others discuss, make important or crucial decisions and how they look being in the eye of camera

Po polsku / Genetycznie zakodowana swarliwość wśród Polaków? [19]

Dlaczego tak jest? Ponieważ Polacy nie umieją dyskutować ani prowadzić dyskursów. Z dyskusji wynikają konflikty racji a my mamy dość kolejnych klótni.
Swarliwość czy kłótliwość to cechy dzięki którym można wygrywać utarczki słowne lub niezbyt ważne konflikty, ale są one niewystarczające a wręcz niewskazane przy rozwiązywaniu poważnych spraw.

najcięższy arsenał obelg i inwektyw

News / 30 years of Solidarity in Poland? Fat chance! [23]

Why?
Maybe beacuse people who were fighting for "Solidarity" are disappointed that Polish society today "looks" mostly or just for material advantages of the movement.

Maybe because the anniversary is still celebrating in many places.
Maybe because memory about it is first of all in people's hearts and minds.
Maybe because many feel ashamed that values like work and bread... aren't the most important these days.
Maybe because many don't treasure things that were lacked by them in the past.

Love / How to make a guy (Polish or other) happy? [62]

Trener zolwia
Surprise is good.

I think the great sentence would the best to finish this a bit silly thread.

Almost 5 years passed. I am five years older.
And I am still not sure how to make a guy happy or almost happy.
The thing is, that, the older I am, the more difficult it seems to be.
I decided to refresh my thread, also because I saw similar in the main page ("How to make a Polish woman happy").
Any new thought from PF members?
I am waiting impatiently.

Language / "Co nie zabije to wzmocni?" - correct me if I'm wrong [13]

you have always al least 2 options:
1). to be desperated and fail in some departments or:
2). to fight and try to deal with sth what is difficult for you
so: if you get up not beaten by problems, you can say then you became stronger

Love / How to make a guy (Polish or other) happy? [62]

I don't agree. Love can be a psychological experiment. Some people take part in it.
Being in a company of loved ones they have had the waves of their brains transcripted. Machines was showing how their brain had been working when they were feeling pleasure and extasy.

I saw this experiment a long time ago in a British programme called "Chemistry of love" of something like that.
They also had blood tests and got plenty money for it I guess.
