English cuisine week in Lidl shops in Poland

Scampi is legendary! Some good fish on offer in LIDL. I wish they had Colmans at a reasonable price. I can get it here but at 10PLN for a small jar.

I wouldn't shop at Lidl either. They were nasty to their employees.

I generally don't like the place in the UK but, in Poland, even Tesco has the twats so I'm indifferent to where I shop here. I'm not gonna let that worry me when I stock up on British items.

Back and shoulder supports. Gimmicky but there are those that like that kind of thing. Kinky boots :) ;)

this is a piece of clothing to make your shoulders warm - I think it's for people who have rheumatism in their shoulders (what is the proper English word for 'rheumatism'? ;)


these are sort of house boots - warm enough for older people who have cold feet - anyway they wouldn't be very practical outdoor shoes (guess they will soak pretty easy because of the way they are made) - anyway they sure can be quite comfortable

Rheumatism is probably neither English nor Polish. A bit like kiosk. We both know what kiosk means but it's of Persian origin.

It sounds like a modified version of couscous, sth which is from Morocco I think but which Poles know.

but I really feel for you here - it is as if I could get hold of proper 'kiszone/kwaszone ogórki' after a year in England - btw I got a superb recipe that uses 'kiszone ogórki' - well I created it myself - it is a Polish-Mexican blend ;) sort of

seanus would you mind to explain me what is different between ordinary fry fish and chips which you can buy in any shop and magic British fish and chips which you desire from Lidl?

There isn't one, because there isn't such a thing as "rheumatism", medically-speaking. When people use the term, they usually mean arthritis ;)

British food week at Lidl (from 18 October)

Lidl is featuring some British foods at their stores in PL starting Monday.

Some of their products are quite good--I can recommend the marmalade. Better than that they sell at M&S and half the price! The frozen roast beef and chicken dinners weren't bad, either.

Do they accept debit cards in LIDL?

How is everyones "English" cuisine?
I went and got some pickle which is quite nice.... i have not oppend my cheddar yet but atleast it is from England!

I bought the pathetic attempt at fish and chips in a bag, they were truly disgusting, no where near the quality you get at the chip shop on padstow harbour.

will try the waffles although they aren't really english, The microwave roasts look quite good though.

The sweet pickle is really good, as is the cheddar. I bought the picallili, it's alright. I was never a huge fan of it. I haven't eaten the fish n chips but it's basically all your daily calories right there in a oner. I'll try the scampi soon, I bought 8 bags at 13PLN a throw. The S&V sticks are superb!

Overall, I'm really impressed.

Im no brand snob, but when it comes to malt vinegar, there is only one! Sarsons..

I dont see anything remotely British about it (okay, Ill give them mint sauce)...we dont call crisps "chips".. Steak pie could be from anywhere - I'd say "steak & Ale" is British..Cod in batter, well, the Spanish deep fry fish..

By the way "Hatherwoods" isnt a company..It just makes the products sound nice and English!
