I lived in Poland for much of this summer, without a visa (I'm a US citizen). I spent that time studying the language, learning the culture, and otherwise just falling in love with Warsaw and Poland in general.
I was in Poland from April to August, and have just returned home to the states last week. I bought a return ticket to Poland for a couple weeks from now. My plan was to stay another three months, returning before Christmas. I only now realized that this is in violation of Schengen law.
The law says 90 days out of every 180, you can be in Schengen zone. That means I would have to wait until November (2 months later than my actual flight) to be able to come back and live another three months in Poland.
Is there some sort of other visa I could apply for within the next couple weeks that would allow me to re-enter Schengen before then? I have been studying Polish, and would like to continue. Maybe I could get a student visa? Would I have to go to school at a university or is it possible to get a student visa from a language school?
Any advice would be appreciated. I've tried contacting the embassy in the U.S. but so far I've had no luck reaching anybody. Any place in Poland I could call for advice on this situation?
