Hi there. I’ve recently been offered a job in Krakow and the salary is 2400 pln take home, after tax and contributions etc. My question being is this enough to live reasonably ok in Poland? Taking into account the cost of an apartment being around 1000 pln a month, Im wondering can I live on 1400 after that? I’m aware that people here exaggerate their salaries and the cost of living so I would appreciate only genuine replies please. Thanks in advance, I really appreciate any help as Im very keen on living in Poland, love the culture etc

You could live on this, but it would be an average live, nothing fancy. 1400pln/30 days = 47pln a day - it would be enough for 3 outside meals and a movie ticket every day. But what about bigger things to buy, like clothese (very expensive in Poland, especially brand clothes), not to mention other utility bills like phone, TV, pharmacy. So you wouldn't go hungry but you'd have to watch every 2 zlotys. I don't think you could save much from that every month.

Im not big into brand names to be honest, and I enjoy cooking so I would maybe just eat out one night a week. I dont intend saving money there, but I was hoping that 2400 would be enough to get by on a modest lifestyle. Thank you for your answer 'hello' I appreciate it

If you cook yourself and you don't plan to save money then you should enjoy your stay in Krakow without much (or any) financial worries.

Yeah, I used to get by on less than that every month and I was living quite a party lifestyle. It is very do-able :)

I used to have about the same a few years back. Good ways to have a good lifestyle on an average wage: cook (which you're doing anyway), walk wherever you can, do as many private lessons as you can charging at least 50pln for 45mins (after all, you are native). Do three things and you should be having a great time and maybe even saving a bit.

If that is for a teaching position, as a native speaker that is much too low imo. You are better off coming here and finding a job.

It's definitely doable if it's after tax. 1400PLN is more than some people get paid netto - so you shouldn't have any problems. Add in a few private lessons if you feel so motivated and you can be left with 2000PLN a month - and if you can't live on that, something is seriously wrong!
