I'll drink to that..Good music.. Love Live Music! Chicago monapolis of Poles in US, we're only (last count) 3-4k strong. The best we have our party's at the Polish Home. May have to make a trip to Chicago. Better yet, soon I'm going to Poland, but I want to see More Polski in US. (That's are biggest importer) for ZWIEC and etc. We're small, but STRONG!

I went: it was a blast!

My wife and I brought a friend and his kids from here in Indiana. They're not familiar with Polish food, so we shared a ton of kiełbasa, gołąbki, and several kinds of pierogi. They raved about it into the next day. (Our friend raved about the cute Polish girls even longer.)

They've already expressed an interest in returning next year, so we're going to treat them to some kiełbasa and Alexandra's pierogi from our freezer the next time we visit.

It was good food, I bought the dinner for $10 and I couldnt finish all of it.

That Stawski beer was very tasty I never heard of it before and didnt see any Okocim?

It was very tasty. I'm not sure exactly what it was, unfortunately. It's not listed on the Stawski web site, and when I asked the guy at the booth what kind of beer they had, he just said, "Polish or Lithuanian." (From the web site, I assume that the Lithuanian one is Kalnapilis.)

Okocim is no longer listed on the site, either. I'm wondering whether Stawski is no longer the importer. The last time I paid any attention though, the label on the Okocim in my basement still listed them as the importer. I'll have to double-check.

Yes, I tried one of them also but liked the Strawski better:)

Ill look around in the store for it, maybe its a new beer they were trying to promote?

The last couple years Okocim was the big sponsor.

Yeah..this year was not as good as the last, but the food and piwo were still great!

They had a Pink Floyd band on Monday,, so it was good for me:)

Oh don't I wish. What a pity, I couldn't resurrect his body from his gravesite, when I visited Paris, France. It would have been nice to hear Jim play a few tunes.

Not really, it was pretty cleaned up when I went there. I was expecting to see crazy scenes of the Morrison Hotel, like in the movie, "The Doors."

I wanted to steal some pepples from Jim's grave, as souvenirs. But... both my sis and the cemetery's guard wouldn't let me, lol.

When I was at Père Lachaise there weren't any hippies there. And it was after his tombstone got destroyed - the torso sculpture was missing, but there were no guards around..

Please let us know if you find anything out.

The polish beer that you had was either Stawski Premium Lager or Perla Monce. Okocim was bought out by Carlsberg Company and the Okocim beer that you have with Stawski as the importer is almost 2 yeas old ( so don't drink it ).

Since the server did advise me that it was a stronger than average beer, I assume that what I had was the Perła Mocna. Maybe I'll just pick up some of both the next time I'm in town. (And yes, I'm going to drink my "vintage" Okocim anyway. It still tastes just fine to me!)

There'll be fresh Okocim in Indiana in around two weeks. We are expecting a shipment in a week. It will hit the stores shortly thereafter. It'll be in Lake County, Indiana only.

That sounds strange, they have to sell alot of Okocim here in Chicago?

You can purchase Stawski Premium Lager at any Binny's Locations in the Chicagoland area

Binny`s is like the Walmart of booze they have everything:)
I havent seen it at the store by my house yet?

(And yes, I'm going to drink my "vintage" Okocim anyway. It still tastes just fine to me!)

Why only Indy,
Because of the distributor territory?

As I understand it, Okocim from Stawski was sold to one distributor in Chicagoland. However, Stawski was a direct importer, as well as a wholesaler. As a direct importer, Stawski sold to several wholesalers, in addition to operating as a wholesaler in Chicagoland. Other wholesalers ordered direct shipment from Poland through Carlsberg USA (now Beverage Alliance). The one wholesaler in Chicago was stuck with thousands upon thousands of cases, kegs etc.

We will only sell in Indiana because that's the law in every state. Wholesalers can't sell beer across state lines. A direct importer, such as Stawski, could sell to other wholesalers in any state.

Im sure they keep a close eye on them also,

I found the Strawski Piwo at Wallys market as soon as I walked into the liquor dept.
They had cases stacked on the floor and in the cooler along side the Okocim

So I picked myself up a 12er and I am now re- testing out the flavor:)

Its tastes similar to Okocim but doesnt have that bitter taste to it:)

Na zdrowie!!!!
