American Polish families talk about their families in Poland all the time.. talk about
traditions, culture, respect .. what they learned of it

some I am sure do not however..some family from poland who stayed there.

a great example was one cousin who said
we Left them behind.. but it was their choice to not come.

do others feel the same? especially since the war?

I noticed that too (I myself like to talk about my family members or friends in Poland). But also about Polish politics, sports, economy, etc. When you grew up in Poland it stays with you and you'll always relate yourself to Poland.

well, I guess what I am lookin for is why some resent those who came to America
long time ago.. maybe I should have made that my title. oh well to late

but I have heard from some others ( families here) that say same thing.. and I know
Polish are very close group of people, so in a sense I can understand this to be
upsetting ..

You mean why some "new" Polish immigrants resent other Polish immigrants who immigrated a long time ago?

Many immigrants from Poland in my area. Just talked to a teacher who went to Jagielonian University in Krakow, she said when she was there in 1980's during the martial law, the people didn't have much, lines everywhere, food was rationed, yet when she visited family they gave her the best meats they could find. They didn't have enough for themselves, but that's how Poles are, very hospitable.

They say: "Gość w domu, Bóg w domu" - a guest in the house is God in the house

no not necessarily <~ spelling?

like the above post,, when I said one cousin wrote and asked why they were left
behind.. this was after the war.. I am sure that had something to do with it..
probably because of the hardships faced at that time.. I dont think anyone realized
how much focus was on the war and how much some of these American Polish
families did ... it wasnt like they came to America and forgot.. but I think thats the
Impression and why maybe some feel that way about the American Polish now.

course that my thoughts.. I can be way off.

just delete this thread admin, the title and thread all of it.. please..
