If I go to Poland, will I be able to come back to US?

Hello, I'm a Polish citizen that has been living in US for past 7 years. I'm not US citizen yet, but I'm here legally. My question is if I go to Poland, will I be able to come back to US just fine? I have a green card and I'm a legal resident. I still have a valid Polish passport. What documents will I have to bring to Poland with me in order to come back to US? Thanks.

If you are not a U.S. citizen, you may need permission to return to the U.S. after traveling abroad. This permission is granted through a travel document. Travel documents are also given to foreign nationals who want to travel, but cannot get a passport from their country of nationality.

Re-entry Permit is a travel document issued to lawful permanent residents and conditional residents to re-enter the U.S. after traveling abroad.

---------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------

Who needs Reentry Permit?

Lawful permanent residents and conditional residents require Reentry Permits to re-enter the U.S. after travel of one year or more.

---------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------

How do I file for Re-entry Permit?

You must file Form I-131, Application for a Travel Document, complete with supporting documentation, photos and applicable fees with the USCIS.

You are a legal resident, so you'll have no problem going back to US. Only if you overstayed your visa would you have problems. But that's not your case. Go home, have fun.

What is this question? How is it possible that you dont`t know that? If you are legal resident in US of A, you can always come back!

BUT NOTE: If you have a green card, you must not be abroad for more than 1 year (otherwise you lose your green card).

But make sure that your passport will be valid for at least 6 months past the time of your intended arrival back to the good old USof A. It is a new requirement.
