I never appplied for an US visa, that's what I heard from a few friends who tried to go there. maybe things are changing for the better now, but several years ago it was really difficult to obtain a visa.

US administration is probably afraid of illegal work force, so they reject thousands of applicants without any reason (they do have their beaurocratic logics assuming everyone from Poland is a potential visa-overstayer or illegal immigrant, so the stronger economical and social ties with Poland she could prove - like university studies, husband and children here, some business in Poland etc. - the greater her chances are to receive a visa, because the consulate/embassy will assume she has a reason to comeback. If she's single with some average work and has a US boyfriend and US-based family, they assume she's going to come see the paridise and stay there, so they eliminate this "threat.)

Krzysztof is correct. They require "strong ties" to Poland. My gf was denied the first time, but she didn't have a student ID which helps a lot. She now has a 10 yr visa. I've sent her an invitation letter to bring, but they didn't even look at it. Good luck

i was applying for a visa twice and was lucky. for the first time it was taugh but i got it, i had to have that invitation letter and bills or whatever from the bank and work and uni, and i had no problems at all. but they just can't see you go there to see bf/gf etc as they are people who don't understand that there may be "love" between us citizen and any people from outside... then the second time i applied(and was successful again)was last year when the rules changed so much, i didn't even have ANY letters any papers at all, just my passport. and just because i was back to poland(last time and had a visa for 2 years)they gave me a 10-yr visa which i won't actually use any more ;-/ but anyway, i can tell it's easier to apply, but you can't tell everything that is true ;-) but it's true, the people who were refused once may have some problems. and they don't tell people why they refuse giving them out...

It's the classic story of life, the idiocy of a few spoils the pleasure for the many. Give Poles visa free travel, there will always be louts who flout the system but don't punish the majority cuz of them.
